I'm Betting Houston Is Moulds Landing Spot
TDRupp replied to Mark VI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
or shop it. -
that is what I was thinking and we are weak (bowens) and old (vincent) at Safety.
-
Kelso, Henry was a different situation. He was (is) younger and was only making, what, $1.5M and had been a very productive starter, granted for one year. Moulds is 33 and is making huge money. I personally would liek to keep Mould as well but they are different situations. If Moulds was making $2.5M a year I think he might fetch 2 rounds higher (3rd or 2nd) than we get now (if we trade him).
-
Don't tell us who you want, just who you think the Bills take. My prediction: Michael Huff, S Good fit for cover-2 safety and I just get the feeling Marv will go S based on Vincent's age and the relative weakness of the other players there, not to mention it is a fairly good value at 8, and the secondary is a safe bet for 1st rounders.

I don't know if they release this today or not but this is my take posted on the "Moulds = 4th rounder" thread. Thoughts UFA Siged: Kelly Holcomb (8 starts 4 yrs. $6.6 M, SB $2 M) and Bennie Anderson (14 starts 3 yrs. $5.1 M, SB $1.5 M) UFA Lost: Jonas Jennings (3 starts 7 yrs. $36M, $12M SB) and Pat Williams (16 starts 3 yrs $13M, $6M SB, Incentives $2M -Pro Bowl) Net loss is 0, and if they weigh starts in first year of new contract more than the size and/or performance of the players, then we will be lucky to get a 6th or 7th rounder. If they weigh contract size and perfomance (not sure they can do this unless they make a pro bowl b/c otherwise if would be very subjective in determining how good a player performed) the same or more then only #of starts then I'd say we have a shot at a 5th rounder. I'd be shocked if they gave us a 4th or higher although it would have been possible with 16 starts and a pro bowl by Jennnings.

Point 1: I agree that is how it has played out but I feel they should weigh contract #'s more heavily. What were our players lost? This is what I have: UFA Siged: Kelly Holcomb (8 starts 4 yrs. Levy banking Moulds will take a pay cut and stay
TDRupp replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe not but that does not preclude a trade. If the Bills can hold Moulds with his current contract until they start signing rookies, it would force anyone interested in him to look at and maybe even sign or draft other options. If they trade for a reasonable price (2nd-4th), they can assures themselves of getting E Moulds and not have to draft or sign other options assuming more than one team Really wants him. After trading for Moulds, they can renegotiate the contract. We shall see but I agree that it won;t help his options to sit with the Bills. -
continued. They are taking hits but will have leverage to get what they want - more money in terms of % of revenues and lower # of yrs for UFA status.
-
WRONG. The NFLPA and it members (the players) are paying for the lack or agreement today and over free agency this year due to the fact the contracts negoiated will have lower Bonuses since they can be spread out over 4 yrs. Then next year there is no Cap (good for players) with unrestricted free agency starting at 6 yrs of service (not good for players).

I saw VD's highlight film and he is incredible. Being a Terp fan did you see him slacking? From what I have seen he does not sound like one to take plays offor even not want to block. I agree the risk-reward is probably higher with VD as oppose to ngata and definitely higher than Huff. Huff will be very good but great? Maybe.

Where did you get that info? Some of us have heard rumors but where you read it besides a message? Not insulting you, just wondering... -
Vernon Davis vs. Haloti Ngata
TDRupp replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are correct. Just MHO. Actually, I would be happy with Huff b/c draft history shows that DB's in the first round are the safest bet and I think could be a great player for us. That said, something in me wants to believe that we can get good to very good play out of Milloy and Vincent for 2, maybe 3 yrs more IF we get better pressure by the DL. That is why I would like Ngata over Huff. Assuming we dont get a chance on Williams, DaBrick, Bush, Hawk, or Leinart the next guys I'd want are: V Davis, Ngata, and Huff in that order. -
Vernon Davis vs. Haloti Ngata
TDRupp replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If they are both there then I would like V Davis but would be happy with either. That said if it is V Davis versus M Huff or C Greenway, I believe you have to go with a guy that changes the game and has to be accounted for on every play - V Davis. That is not the case with the other guys. If his intangibles: character, team orientation over self, motivated in the finer points of football, wants to win, motivated by love of the game and wins over money then I believe this guy may be one of the top 5 players in the draft regardless of the positon. I know he is a TE, but if you have a GREAT TE not just a good one then you already have your "#1 WR" so-to-speak. Look at SD and KC's WR numbers. I know. We still need a great OL to be in that class of an O, but IF we address that in round 2-4 (even move up from our 2nd some spots) targeting key guys we might be okay. I also believe we MUST keep S Adams and grad another DT in round 2-4 or upgrade in Free Agency. Wish: Rnd 1 V Davis Rnd 2 OL Rnd 3A OL Rnd 3B DT Rnd 4-7 S, RB, & WR in some order based on what we get in FA. F/A: 1 decent WR to compete 1 decent OL or DL to compete and possibly a S to compete -
No paycut means Moulds wants to be cut

and we would not have a #1 WR. -

Not to mention the $1M savings may very well a greater loss in total offensive production, if that is possible from last year. Unforunately, I believe it is. -
a guy that could be like Tiki Barber...
TDRupp replied to TDRupp's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is heavier than Reggie Bush and more compact (shorter) as well. Nothing against Reggie but if you are over 200 lbs and are elusive and fast you can make it in the NFL as a starter. He is about the same weight as Tiki (shorter though) and 20 lbs heavier than Warrick Dunn. These guys produce and I think Drew can as well. -
I have to admit I have seen him play very little, but I think Maurice Drew might be worth one of third rounders depending on who else is available. The is tough, small 5' 6 3/4" and 205 pounds, but is very fast at 4.37 or so and has a huge heart. I remember watchng Tiki Barber one of the college all-star games (Senior Bowl probably) and I really wanted this guy. I thought he was better than Antowian Smith. In fact, I met Buddy Nix at the Bills-Vikes opener (the one with Todd Collins as starter) at a bar in RTP, NC that is now a seafood resturant and he scouted them both. I asked him if he liked Tiki and he said yeah but we really like Smith's size and speed. I am not claiming to be some hot shot - I just happened to right on that call. Sorry for the long story but I like short RB's that are tough and fast. 5' 7" is small but that is packing those 205 or so pounds in a smal, tough, fast package, as opposed to Roscoe Parish (short and skinny). That scares me! Get some OL, DL, and S help in round 1-3 and free agency and tehn this kid. I'd love it.

No paycut means Moulds wants to be cut
TDRupp replied to HelloNewman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. He is 32 which is not close to too old for a guy in great shape. Even if Moulds has another poor season at 81 catches and 810 yards, name another guy that we can sign that can put up those numbers and is as good. With the exception of T.O. who we will not sign, there are none even available (waiting for Jimmy Smith to possibly get cut makes no sense either -old and would would at least 3 million). Period. While past performance does not guarantee future results unless Moulds is injured if we try to get him the ball he can and will catch 80-95 balls. Try to restructure Moulds including trying to cut overall pay (not all lowered salary going to new bonus) and keep him this year and try to make it possible to keep him next year as well. -
Trust me. Unless Nate starts spouting off about not even wanting to play unless he makes Champ Bailey money this year or he'll sit, he will be in Buffalo this year. He should be. He had a bad year but the guy is a VERY GOOD cb. Plain and simple. He is worth the franchise $ and worth probably the same kind of money that Carolina gave Ken Lucas or Dallas gave Anthony Henry. I am guessing Nate is a top 5-7 CB and will improve with an overall better D, assuming we get better.

Haloti Ngata is off the board at #8
TDRupp replied to firstngoal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like him but I think Vernon Davis (if Levy likes his intangibles) would be a great fit. No, I don't think the Bills go QB round 1 unless Leinhart falls - he won't. I do think they need a QB in rnd 3-7, though... -
You are wrong. It is not "...I thought..." He clearly says a word that end in "ing" and since he has no reason to say "f#&$ing" it is pretty obvious that "...looking..." is it. Sorry, Hollywood. You are just plain wrong on this. That's cool though...

That's not an F bomb. Correct The quote is "Ben Roethlisberger, I thought, came very close to going across the line of scrimmage." Incorrect. the word that sounds like the F-ing Bomb word is really "looking". "Ben Rothlisberger, LOOKING very close...". Listen again.

SOPARNO, Good try with the DC, but it looks like Bates has too much money coming to work for the Bills. Johnny Lynn instead, now. How about a new DB coach? What do you hear? Is Brad Roll sticking? I wish we did not boot Rusty Jones. He was a very good one!
