Is it better? Probably but how much? Name our best O lineman and them tell me if we even have a "good" line. They all might end up being "good" with Peters being very good. They might. We still have a below average OL until they are not. Sounds stupid but it is true.

Parrish most likely will play solt receiver,
TDRupp replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep. Prototypical slot player. 168 lbs. find another one very good slot WR that is 168. You won't find one. This dude's size is a huge issue and my guess is he will have 1 or 3 yrs where he plays 13-16 games. Impact player, potentially, when healthy. He will compete for a #3 job and will start as a #4 barring injury. -
Yeah, unless Marv sign a or a few "bargin" FA's in 2007. That will cut the 3rd to a 7th or nothing very quickly. Interesting how a late FA signing (Bennie Anderson?) can cost you a possible third rounder or may a 5th rounder...
-
The guy is a very good QB. period. He needs WR's like all QB's and he has some good weapons in Miami. I suspect he will be a pro bowler whenever healthy, unfoortunately.

Hey, if the Bills are 3 or more games from the division lead at the trading deadline, offer Clements the most you will offer him in Feb and if he does not take it try to get a first or second for him. if there are no takers try to sign him in Feb otherwise sign wisely in 2007 Free Agency and take a 3rd rounder the next year.

No way! We have a great chance to be something other than #22! I'd say a 96.875% chance which of course is 31 out of 32. But they are "right" at this point in the season... ;0

Ricky Proehl. We depth and a 5th #3 receiver.

Bingo. Vick and Namath and maybe just Vick for both. While Joe Willie definitely was not a great player he really is not touted as one (albiet in the Hall). He is touted for the guarantee. He did help them go do it as well. Hey, the guy won the Super Bowl in a huge upset. Vick is touted as one of the most best players in the NFL. He is unique but he boils down to a "good" QB b/c he can't consistently deliver the ball for completions. Period. I have talked myself into changing to Vick. Current and All-time. Peace!

I could see a team with playoff potential picking up Holcomb for a 7th rounder or after we cut him, if we do. Teams like Chiefs, Panthers, Giants, even the Pats!

ESPN ranks Bills pass catchers, 30th among active
TDRupp replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Skinny is we have Evans as a #1 and he has not come close to producing as a #1 with Moulds (the old #1) out of the line up. Couple that with a bunch of street free agents and you basically have no proven #2 or even a guy that is highly likely to make himself one. Agreed. Right now until proven otherwise we have a top motch #2 and a bunch of #3 WR's, and few ST WR's... That can't be ANY better than 27 out of 32 which is basically poor and definitely not good. Who cares if we are ranked by ESPN at 31 or 22. It does not matter! Hope I am wrong come November. Go Bills! -
I like this roster...looking at depth chart
TDRupp replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with most of what you said. The key points you made, IMHO, are that we are "OK" at many spots. IMHO, that is not good. OK is just a few spots will quality to very good play elsewhere gets a team to the promise land. -

unfortunately the scheme's weakness is stopping the power running game. -

Agreed. To be a playoff or Super Bowl contending team you need very good and great players. Ours very good to great players are: P Moorman KR McGee CB Clements Borderline or Questionable: Schoebel McGahee EVERYONE else that you think is Very Good or better is a projection. Period. Those aren't the right positions, IMHO. Coupled that with the fact we are facing what could be a definitely improving Miami team and always tough Pats team and it spells no playoffs this year. I hate it but write it down. It is not happening. I believe the best we can hope for is a season like Miami's where we play very well at the end though I expect 8-8 would be our best hope. -
We have 3 good QB's = we have no good QB's We are loaded with WR depth = we have only 1 starting quality WR OL upgraded = the mantra for this position the last couple (at least) years I don't think I am being gloom and doom here, just the facts, IMHO. That said, Yes, surprising QB play would be a huge boost to the entire team including the D, OL, and WR's. But to make the playoffs we'd need very surprising play from our new DT's as well and I just don't see it. Hope I am wrong. Go Bills!

Bottom Line is the team. Pats much > Bills until I see differently. Go Bills.

Mike Williams has weight issues.....again
TDRupp replied to DanInSouthBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My sources from deep within... TD... say that Mike Williams is not a bust. He will be a Pro Bowler this year as the newly designated RBOT (run blocking OT) spot voted on by the NFL media members. Len P., John C., and Mort lead the charge. -
I would do it now and send them a 4th rounder. Miami would not do it though. No way. Ronnie Brown is very talented at running, block, and catching (see him against us in Buff) and heading into his second WITH a great attitude and head on his shoulders. barring injurie, he will be better then Mc Gahee THIS year and after, IMHO. No Ricky taking playing time and he comfortable as a pro. All I can say is I hope I am wrong.

Can JP Losman & Kelly Holcomb be on the same team?
TDRupp replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
simply stupid to make a decicion to let one of them go for several I am not arguing whether it is smart or stupid but if you read my whole post I said I would not cut Holcolmb, right? However, we now have 4 healthy QB's on our roster, 2 injured ones that were in NFLE, and a report that says will are close to bringing in Dinwiddle. That makes 5 healthy QBs and not much time before trainign camp. do you honestly think we wil keep 5 QB's to start camp if we sign Dinwiddle? And do you think Holcomb will want to stay in Buffalo as a #3, if Dick choose to let Losman and Nall compete for the #1 job? marv and Dick are not making decisions b/c we have not found a good QB for the last 10 years since Kelly - they are making decisions for this year's team and an eye looking toward the future without sacraficing this year's team. -

TDRupp replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You have a point but if you can keep a guy that has started and played well at times and have you #2 guy as a developmental guy Nall or Losman (they both really are developing), does Marv throw away Kelly H when there is a slim chance he may want to stay as #3? I don't Marv would just cut him unless he wanted a chance elsewhere to be #2. I wouldn;t w/o asking first. Holcomb if cut might like to try the Saints or SD. #2 jobs with Q's at starter position as well... Probably will eat my words and watch him start for the Bills on Opening Day... -

TDRupp replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
of course we could but will we? No, imho. And, why did we sign 2 QB's to seemily compete for the 3rd string job and/or be the 4th arm in camp? Possibily b/c Holcomb will be let go. I don't know of another good reason. When you look at Dick J's comments today you know he will whittle the competition down to 2 QB's prior to camp and designate 1 as 3rd stringer. IMHO, Marv and Dick ask Holcolmb to take 3rd QB job and help the young guys out as they compete or if you don't want to (like Bledsoe in 2005) we will cut you. I guess their is a slight chance they designate Nall or Losman as the 3rd QB but that seems slim, does'nt it? Peace. Go Bills! -
I bet you can add Ronnie Brown to the top 6 list soon. Very unfortunately, but I think with that kids hands and runnign skills he will be very good now that he is playing with a good QB in Culpepper. Hopefully, baloney for the Patroits tanks but he or one of the the other rookies could surprise big time this year... Of your 2nd tier guys I put Cadillac Williams Rudi Johnson Warrick Dunn Steven Jackson a cut above the others with McGahee at the bottom of my small 2nd tier list.
-
No reason to kick him off the team and no reason to give him a big contract extension either. Play him and see what happens. That said, IMHO, he is not a great fit on this team as I believe Marv envisions it and has not proved to be a consistenly good RB. Hopefully a better offensive line players and schemes will prove to be a difference for him and he will prove me wrong. Peace. Go Bills!
-
Nope. Opinion stands and it is not confined to missing voluntary camp. Good to very good player, no doubt. I like his power and toughness very much. He is not a bad guy. But "talent will not win without character". Maybe Marv and Dick will rub off on him as he matures and grows this year, but from what I know now, I don't hate him, I just don't see him as a fit on this team past the next year or two.

Combine very good accuracy and decision making with Losman already known skills of mobility, speed, and very strong arm, dude and you don't get Kosar, do you?
-
I am hopeful that what is really going on is that: ..he is working much harder at throwing accurately and improving his decision making... I he does not improve those, he will not be a very good IMHO. He culd very awesome if he ends up being very good in those two areas...
