  1. Yep. His head worries me as well and I can only hope he matures enough to know you don't necessarily say it if you feel especially like he does sometimes. Nevertheless, post game comments aside it is his game brain that still concerns me and I really hop to see him improve through the whole season. That is, feeling D pressure even when it is supposed to be picked up and getting rid of it, etc... Hopefully DJ and Fairchild will get on him in the mtgs to make sure he is more aware on the guys coming behind him.
  2. LOL Yes, but, minus the balls!
  3. The play was blown dead. Dead ball so no reason to pcik it up. This is an instance (rule) that is an exception to the guidelines where refs are to err on the side of caution and let play continue with regards to fumbles/interceptions/completions so it can be reviewed later. And it does make sense b/c the last thing you want is your QB's legs being held as Shawn Merriman, London Fletcher or Spikes, et. al. come in to finish him off.
  4. Pereiri was right. If JP gets the ball off and hits a receiver for positive yards it does not count b/c the whistle blew and he was sacked. Its the rule and was a good call by the refs.
  5. Yep. Got it. But the real point is not if we could get Whitner at 15 but would the Bills been content with what they projected to be there if he wasn't? I believe they just did not, actually Marv didn;t, think the risk of losing Whitner, even if small, was worth a 2nd or 3rd rounder. They wanted this guy probably not only as a football player on the field but b/c he would be a natural leader of the secondary in the next 5-6 years (hopefully longer).
  6. I would not expect them to come up hard before the snap in our Cover 2 scheme. Not like when we played Gray's D with Malloy pressuring the run so much. They may come up to help tackle but they won't fly up into the box pre-snap like in years past b/c that is not Cover 2.
  7. I'll take Powell a lesser talent with heart and who gives 100% to a first round bust. Donahoe would sign Haynes, not Marv unless he has just been peppered with bad luck and Dick J wants (I'd be shocked). Plus unless he does play hard and runs fast he is not a DE in our scheme from what I know. Stretch for him to be a DT, I think.
  8. my answer: 75% just my two cents that is also based on a belief that the NFL guys use them more than is being caught/reported.
  9. I say this based only on how huge and fast and mean the guy is and not based on anything else. I think the guy is a freak of nature!
  10. Agree almost fully with a slight difference. McGahee is moderately better than average. Playing devils advocate with myself is that what Larry Johnson is too now that his great OT's from last year are gone? I think OL is a huge determinant as to how an RB plays/looks.
  11. While I have not been a big Willis fan in the past few years -- okay starting last year --- and I am still not, I don't see why he should try any harder on 4th and 1. Maybe he reaches with the ball since a funble is worth risking but besides that he SHOULD still try just as hard on 3rd down.
  12. Wow. I am a genius and will now take the 3 and the win. Great call. Personally, if I was making the decision at the time I am not sure I would do anything different. That was the right run call. I might have considered running two Wr's out having them both do double moves out to inside for a 4 Yder. I really liked going for it in that situation.
  13. bingo. about 10-12 plays more than the reserves by my estimate. not much of a difference on the DL, even DE, though Schoel will get the most snaps.
  14. He doesn't fit the defense they're playing. Ding, ding, ding!! You are the winner!
  15. I completely disagree that it was a sham. If anybody has paid attention to my posts, I believe that JP will not pan out and will not be here next year. Jump my gut and I hope I am wrong but I don't like the way he makes decisions and thinks based on his interviews. back on point... J.P. clearly won the job and should play, barring injury (good chance of one for the way he plays) over Holcomb and Nall. Period. He beat the competion hands down. Not a sham. Also, his head and OC coach seem (in their comments) not to give him the much leeway and personally agree with that but it is clear to me they are not playing favorites in JP's favoe. IMHO, they wanted Nall to win the job. Not a sham. Lastly, Mr. Mort can not call it a sham b/c Marv did not get better competion for JP b/c while it is not hugely better it is better competion than when Mr. Donohoe was here last year. Nall vs. Matthews. Hands down Nall is better competition b/c we all knew Matthews was a proven commodity. A decent 3rd string QB. Period. Nall was an intruiging 3rd stringer from GB behind a HOFer and a 1 st rounder. He could be a good starter someday. He has that potential. No sham, Mort. It was a logical choice to not try and get a one of the top 3 QB's this year or another FA guy since we have a young QB that we have to find out about this year. Also, not a sham b/c Holcolmb was the incumbent and started #1. JP unseated him. Sham? No way, no how.
  16. That is a good reason not to make the move as would be not knowing how 2006 is going yet, as of today. That said, my initial reaction even today is, yes. I definitely make that trade in 4-6 weeks if I see anything but very good or great things from Willis almost every week. Bottom line. Yes. A top 8-14 RB with Willis' intangibles/character that will want to be paid like a top 5 Rb in a year for a top 10 pick in next yrs draft? It is a tough Yes now and an easy Yes after a month or 6 wks of what most predict will be the Bills and Will doing.
  17. Well, it is what it is. Our #2 WR will be somebody that is a street free agent that nobody else really wanted at even a reasonably price let alone the 4 yr $10 M contract he sign for OR a $9-10M guy that was being offered about half by Carolina and generally nobody wanted for a #3 with possibilities to be a #2 ...
  18. Internet creation? He was without a doubt a very good MAC WR and pretty much all the internet site for the NFL Draft had him pegged as a late rounder or a FA. That's what he was and is a FA that still may project and grow into a NFL roster talent level WR. If he can't make the Bills he is not ready and might not ever be. If you mean internet creation b/c a handfill of posters on TDB tout him as a great player, then point taken. Of course then in a matter of a couple of years your "MAC WR's-never-pan-theoty" could very well turn out to be just another "internet creation". Go Jennings! Go Schieffler ! Go Troy Brown! Go Justin MacCariens! Go Randy Moss! Hmmm go back 5-6 yrs ago and you could say the WR position was better then QB position in the NFL. What a couple of years and a couple of WR's would do. Of course not being anything other than a luke warm college footbacll fan compared to the NFL, I really dont care other than I love the underdogs. Just trying to point out that in 2-3 yrs a lot can change especially if Nance or Ridgway or those other WMU guys already doing pretty find a way to be effective NFS WR's. Point taken?
  19. Current: Spikes All-Time: Jim Kelly
  20. Hello, Crazy. Good to hear all is well and that your mistakes from the Cincy game are correctable. Please correct them before the NE and Mia games this Sept and maybe won't won't see #16 playing in October. Good luck. Signed, Not so crazy
  21. He COULD be our #2 this year. Easily. And yes, that dones make us a bad team. IMHO, we have two proven players I can classify as very good on O: Evans and McGahee and some would say they might be stretches or projections. That spells a long year IMHO... Go Bills!
  22. I agree with zow2's numbers more so. The only porblem with the called runs and roll out is that these plays will sometimes undoubtedly be turnovers, especially against smart defensive teams like the Pats where they will send a Safety or OLB into the roll out (both sides) and JP will still try to make a play instead of taking a sack or throwing it away. Lets face it. JP must learn focus on throwing the ball accurately even on a roll out where there is lots of green in front not only for his durablity(health) but b/c that way the defense has to respect his ability to do so consistenly. If they dont have to respect it, they can play a lot differently...
  23. It looked like Reed messed up by why would coach DJ and JP both say otherwise? It would be stupid for JP to say ' he did exactly what he was coached to do" if it was not true. Also, I assume that Reed saw somethg different than JP but even DJ say it Reed's. Even so Reed did not like committed or ready to receive a ball. ugly play. i actually am more worried about his fumbles and total unwillingness to throw a ball away....
  24. If anything JP was trying to dodge taking responsbility. I get the feeling he does not believe he was at fault the way he kept answering questions with a smirk and "miscommunication". He said that three times. He is basically he a pretty defensive guy and not very humble. Some compared him to Kelly the way he comes back from a mistake. Maybe. But, Kelly almost always took responsibility for his mistakes. You remember?? "I stuck" That was a bad pass and bad decision on my part. J.P. says his mistakes were correctable. poor decisions correctable or a good pocket presence is correctable. I think he can and will improve there I just don't think either or those will be good attributes for him.
  25. That's my biggest problem with JP. He NEVER, EVER throws the ball away. He just always tries to make a play and often does so for the other tea. He better learn fast!
