  1. Agreed. It's up to CK to get his stuff together and push for playing time. He's a young guy and hasn't played football all that long so he has some time.
  2. On run plays, the coaches are looking for the Oline to keep their pad level low and drive the guy off the line of scrimmage. They are also looking for the Oline to maintain contact (engaged) with their guy until the whistle. If there is a stale mate at the line of scrimmage it is considered a defensive win. Too many times, Legursky and Urbik are being stood up at the line (failing to maintain low pad level), not getting any push downfield, and are not engaged with their guy until the whistle. If you have a dvr or TiVo watch the line play on running plays and you can usually figure out the good, the bad, and the ugly. I played oline in high school and don't claim to be an expert.
  3. Glad to see Glenn back and a chance to see Henderson at RT. Didn't Urbik play center a couple of years ago when Wood was out hurt?
  4. Dareus is doing stupid things but releasing him would be even more stupid
  5. The trash guy came by at 0730.
  6. Taking lemons and making lemonade. Feel bad for the young man regarding his career but happy for him that Seahawks treated him well. Seahawks are separating themselves from the rest of the league both on and off the field.
  7. I'm pulling for this guy. Hopefully he can get it together and play to his abilities. If he does the Bills got a steal.
  8. Bortles seems already on the path of a bust. Third overall pick and they are going with Henne as the starter for 2014. Why even draft him especially at the 3rd spot.
  9. One of the 8 players suing is former Bill WR J.D. Hill. Saw him interviewed on CNN. He said he became addicted to pain killers that the team gave him and it took him years to beat the addiction.
  10. For me it's the 70's. OJ running loose all over the place, the Steel Curtain, the Raiders, the Cowboys. Just great football all around. Plus the Patriots sucked! For Bills only, has to be 60s or 90s.
  11. Well I certainly do not know what Jerry loves more - being filthy rich or being a media whore. I lived in Baltimore at the time when the colts left for Indianapolis, Baltimore was absolutely devastated by it. I'm sure Browns fans were just as much when the team moved to Baltimore. Hopefully the majority of NFL owners have a sense of NFL history or allegiance to Buffalo and are willing to here viable options to keep the Bills in Buffalo.
  12. I didn't pay much attention to Sammy before the draft because I didn't think we would draft him. I checked out his highlights on youtube a couple of days ago. I recommend checking them out if you haven't done so. He is a very versatile player and there are several ways to get him involved. Plus we have Williams and Woods who are pretty good too.
  13. I did not mean to suggest something sinister. I believe Brown will be given an opportunity to showcase his talents and the Bills will evaluate. I agree with you that all 3 will play. There may be a shift though in the Bills philosophy on the number of carries and the situations in which these RBs will be used. I don't think they traded for Brown to use him the way they used Tashard Choice which was infrequently.
  14. Pretty much spot on. The Bills really wanted this guy. That was a lot of persistence for a 'third string" back. Nothing against Freddie or CJ but this means something and I believe sooner rather than later. Freddie had a good year last year but he was the oldest running back last year in the league. Yeah I know he has more tread than most guys his age but father time is catching up. Spiller won't or can't run between the tackles the way Marrone wants. I know he had a high ankle sprain but the guy gets dinged up pretty regularly. The bills brought in plenty of RBs for predraft visits so the trade for Brown is a telltale sign that something is up.
  15. I believe the Bills grew tired of Stevie's antics and decided they did not want him as a leader of a young football team. I further believe the Bills felt that the contract was too rich in regards to his production. They probably were disappointed in his untimely drops and fumbles which cost them wins (Steelers game that went into OT, last years opening game against NE, and the Atlanta game.) They wanted a true #1 in talent, dependability, and commitment to winning and pulled the trigger in getting Watkins and in turn saying goodbye to Stevie.
  16. Desean Jackson is 5'10" and has been to 3 pro bowls in 6 years. Let's give Sammy a shot and see what happens.
  17. Man, you are not drinking the Whaley Kool Aid. You are making it and chugging it! You may even be using a funnel too! I love your optimism and hope you are spot on. I'm going to wait and see some preseason action and then try to assess. I'm still trying to digest all of the picks and trades that the Bills did the last 3 days.
  18. I stopped watching ESPN a long time ago for any type of analysis. I usually come to this forum to hear about whomever. Too many of these media types are just saying something to stir the pot so to speak. I know this sounds pretty negative but I don't think the Bills will get any lovin until they win a Super Bowl. I'm ok with that.
  19. I saw Polian on ESPN and he wasn't sure trading up for Watkins was worth it. He posed it as follows "Why not stay put at 9 and take Beckham?" Is the difference between Watkins and Beckham that great to justify the trade up for Watkins?" A valid question but ultimately comes down to your overall gut. Overall I like the Bills draft and hopefully Watkins turns out to be the stud that most people envision.
  20. A better way to put it, Whaley was aggressive and willing to take calculated risks whereas Nix was almost too conservative. Marv took some gambles ( Whitner, and free agent signings of Langston Walker and another guy (help)) that were outright bombs. Marv was in over his head and perhaps Nix too. We'll see about Whaley but he was up at the plate swinging.
