  1. As much as I like Polian for the job he did back then (key word - BACK THEN), it's time to take this team FORWARD. That's not going to happen by trying to relive the past. I can see Polian as an outside consultant and at the most, an advisor to Whaley, nothing more. Let him stay in the booth, and keep Whaley in place. Move Brandon back to marketing where he belongs, and get a modern day football guy for the Pres of Football Operations.
  2. I agree. That's the best and smartest route they can take right now. Let's hope they make it happen.
  3. The smartest thing Marrone did was bring in the right people to run the Defense since that's really not his strong suit. The worst thing he did was NOT bring in the right people to run the offense (this was his strong suit? Really?? Seriously???).
  4. To Clarify: I can't blame him for taking the money and running, but like you, I also feel the way he did is was classless. He could have done it much better than that.
  5. I don't agree with 'disaster', but the Bills are at a critical crossroads right now. They can't afford to bring in the wrong coach for this team. They MUST hit with whoever they bring in for the good of the team.
  6. Can't just dump all the blame on him for what went wrong without giving him some credit for the things that went right as well. It's a two way street.
  7. 1) He left the team much better now than is was before he came here, I'll give him that. 2) Team attitude and the overall culture improved under his watch, I'll give him that too. 3) After consecutive 7-9 seasons (and a 4-12), 9-7 this year with a near playoff berth is looked at as a disappointment? (see #2) 4) Defense was among the worst before he came here, now it's among the best - he deserves credit for the hires on defense. 5) First winning season in a decade (he deserves credit for that on his watch)! 6) 4-2 in the division (SO WHAT if the Pats were in preseason mode in week 17). 7) A winning record at home which includes knocking off a Super Bowl contender. 8) For a guy with an offensive background, he really didn't accomplish anything in that area. In fact, the offense went backwards! 9) If he really thinks OUR media was tough on him, he ain't seen $#%! yet. Go ahead, take that Jets job! 10) Wherever you end up St Doug, you ARE taking Hackett with you, right? He ain't staying here! 11) He did what most players would have done in that situation, take the double payday (from us + his next team). He'll never get another opportunity like that again. 12) I don't agree with (or like) the way he went out here, but can't honestly say that I blame him. Thanks for stopping by and getting us going in the right direction.
  8. He'll follow Marrone, or it's back to the college ranks.
  9. Like it or not, it's hard to blame him. A free $4 mil, plus a big payday from another team on top of that for the 9-7 season here. And the timing of it all is perfect. He won't get another opportunity like this again in life. Nope, can't blame him at all.
  10. I'd love him as an OC. Head Coach? Way too soon. Get him in place to take over later.
  11. If he keeps Schwartz and the defensive staff in place, I'm all for it.
  12. I Like Gase too if he keeps Schwartz and the defensive staff in place.
  13. So much for stability. Now I just hope we can get a good Offensive minded coach with the good sense to keep Schwartz as the DC. I wonder if Frank Reich is ready to take the next step up. Kubiak might even be a decent option as well.
  14. Orton was brought here to mentor and help bring EJ along as well as provide insurance, not be the starter for the season, it just worked out that way. He's not the kind of QB that was going to take the team deep into the playoffs even if we did get there. He served his purpose. Let's just hope EJ learned enough from him to take that next step. He's going to (and should) take over the position in 2015. It's way too soon to call him a bust or give up on him.
  15. I agree with you. Not all QB's are going to come out of college and be Andrew Luck. Most do take time to develop. The original plan for EJ - which was the correct one, was to have him sit, watch, and learn from a veteran first. He didn't get that in his first year, he got it this year. We'll see how far he's progressed next season. We still need another vet in here as both insurance and a mentor to him, but I still have faith in EJ. I hope he proves the doubters wrong in a big way!
  16. Keep our tackles where they are right now. We need guards badly. I like Mike Iupati.
  17. I think Foles would be a good fit here too. Since he can play in the cold as well, that's a plus.
  18. I like Moore & Mallett to compete with EJ for the starting spot.
  19. I would be more inclined to grab one of these guys as insurance and mentor for EJ.
  20. Here you go: Jason Campbell UFA CIN 32 Jimmy Clausen UFA CHI 27 Austin Davis RFA STL 25 Matt Flynn UFA GB 29 Blaine Gabbert UFA SF 25 Matt Hasselbeck UFA IND 39 Shaun Hill UFA STL 34 Brian Hoyer UFA CLE 29 Tarvaris Jackson UFA SEA 31 Josh Johnson UFA SF 28 Case Keenum RFA HOU 26 Ryan Lindley UFA ARI 25 Jake Locker UFA TEN 26 Ryan Mallett UFA HOU 26 Luke McCown UFA NO 33 Colt McCoy UFA WAS 28 Kellen Moore RFA DET 25 Matt Moore UFA MIA 30 Dan Orlovsky UFA DET 31 Christian Ponder UFA MIN 26 Mark Sanchez UFA PHI 28 Matt Simms RFA NYJ 26 Tyrod Taylor UFA BAL 25 Scott Tolzien UFA GB 27 Michael Vick UFA NYJ 34 Joe Webb UFA CAR 28 T.J. Yates UFA ATL 27 I don't know about you, but all I see here are last resorts and a couple serviceable mentors to EJ that we would hope never has to take the field for us..
  21. I agree. Orton's retirement just forced the Bills hand. We're not going to get a quality starter through free agency or the draft so now it's time to make the most of what we have at the position now, and get as much as we can out of it. I'm pulling for EJ to come through for us. It's still going to be a learning process but it is what it is. I just hope we can bring in a veteran mentor that can continue to help him along without having to start.
