  1. I'd love to see Kyle Shanahan as HC, Anthony Lynn retained as OC with Gus Bradley running the defense. Then we'll need a decent draft, and a couple more good FA additions, and we're in the playoffs. If TT stays, I think Kyle and Lynn together will get more out of him than Rex ever got out of his QB's.
  2. EXACTLY!!!!! A good Head coach who can also attract or develop good coordinators. Who was Rex's OC in his first 2 years with the Jets when they went to those 2 AFC Championships?
  3. He's come a long way. Let's hope it carries over to 2017. Maybe that could free up Glenn to solidify the RT spot.
  4. Agreed. Save the evaluation for next season once he's had a full training camp and some preseason work. He wasn't ready for this under the circumstances, but what little experience he did get will help him out for next season.
  5. Marrone came in a reputation for offense. The defense became very good, but the offense sucked (he was an o-line coach too, and our line was weak). He leaves, and in comes Rex the highly regarded defensive mind. 2 years later, the offense improved, but he flushed a top 5 defense down the toilet. Go figure.
  6. Pettine made a huge mistake taking the Cleveland job, and so did Hue Jackson. That's a coaching graveyard.
  7. Agreed. What does Rex really know about developing QB's, really? Kyle would be a good choice as long as he gets the right DC. And it would be great if he kept Lynn as OC. I could see us at 11-5 with an upgraded defensive coaching staff.
  8. If it weren't for how bad his run defense sucked, I'd say yeah. Even though they were much better against the pass, and they did get much more pressure on the QB, his run defense is as bad as Rex's was, so that would make this a NO! But then again, maybe he learned a few things that might help him do better against the run, and we do have better LB's now.
  9. Yes. The best DC for this team would be one who's very good with the 4-3.
  10. Agreed. He's definitely going to need a very good DC if he's going to succeed.
  11. That would make too much sense, but I hope it goes that way.
  12. Oh without a doubt Whaley just took over Rex's spot in the hot seat. The next HC should be HIS call (without Brandon involved), and HIS @$$ on the line. He'd better make the right choice and give that coach everything he can give him to be successful.
  13. Lynn has been put in a hell of a tough situation since the end of week 2 and made all he could make of it under the circumstances. If he does get the HC job and hires the right OC and DC, he'll be an upgrade. But they're really asking a lot out of him at this stage.
  14. I'd like to see EJ have a good enough game that even if he doesn't stay here, somebody else (other than Cleveland or SF) will give him another shot. As for TT, I think he's worthy of bringing back if they can work out a more fair deal for both sides. He hasn't earned the big payday yet, but there's enough upside and room to improve to justify the job to remain his until someone beats him out for it.
  15. Rex was living off past success (back to back AFC Championship games with the Jets). He's done nothing after that. His offenses were pretty much one dimensional, and his defense weren't good enough to compliment an old school run heavy offense. Had he been smart enough to keep the defense we had here intact, even with the offense we have now we'd most likely have had the first wild card spot locked up and a good shot at being in the AFC Championship game.
  16. Agreed. This should be Whaley's decision alone to pick the guy he's going to sink or swim with. If the next coach fails, the he goes too.
  17. It's still possible that his top picks from this year can be solid contributors. Both were out with injuries. With a new defensive staff coming in, those guys might turn out to be very good picks. We'll see next season.
  18. Whaley really hasn't done that bad of a job, but there are still areas where he needs to do better. His low budget free agent pickups have been great, but his batting average draftwise could be better. He also needs to face the fact that the pick of EJ was a miss and move on from him. Granted he's trying to make moves to get the right QB in, but he's been missing so far (like many other teams). The Pegulas should also take a step back and let Whaley pick his own head coach to sink or swim with (hopefully Lynn or a credible coach with a history of winning and assembling a competent staff).
  19. Hope the Rams don't bring the Ryan act over to their team up more than it already is.
  20. If he takes what he's learned from this year to elevate his game in year 3 as a starter, I think we'll have our answer.
  21. Restructure TT's contract and keep him for next year, get another right tackle. The real issue is the defensive coaching staff in addition to needing another safety. I hope AW retires for his own good. It's not worth it anymore.
