Are you talking about the 4th qtr circus catch? That wouldn't make any sense to me. Not getting on you at all but for that statement to be true wouldnt Sammy have to have been later on his route and about 6'3" to catch that ball in stride? He was pretty much exactly where he was supposed to be yet the ball was simply off target.

Please tell me why Kyle Orton is not the long term answer ?
Agent 91 replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Every one who we bring in to usurp or guy. (Insert name) can make all the throws. That is such a cliche. Yeah I'm a basketball guy. BUT I know enough to know that that is not something to marvel over. I was talking to the skycap one day about this. Why should that be something to harp on. Should we praise a pilot who can land a plane. A singer who can hit a C note? If you have perfected you're craft to get to the league. You are expected to be able to atleast be adequate. Maybe Orton can hit every pass. But will he? If EJ grew a set and developed a true IDGAF attitude are we sure... 1000% sure he can't do it? I'm really not. And not a critique of others but can we beat someone who doesn't hand us the game before we decide to talk about long term solutions? -
I think we need to get Jerry Hughes into space
Agent 91 replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Talking about Jerry Spiller are ya? All jokes aside. He needs to be a rush line backer. Something Schwartz doesn't use. If he lined up in a two point stance he wins his matchup the majority of snaps -
And I thought I was the only one living in a parallel universe. Welcome my friend. Do you mean the Goodwin reception ob a throw that looked like EJs pass to Watkins that got broken up by Grimes. Or like the pass to Chandler that was reviewed and declared a perfect catch? i am so glad we have a quarterback... Orton... who has pinpoint accuracy. Now... someone tell me how to make my emoticon bang his head off of a wall!!!!

Im not defending EJ. However, I am not intrigued by Orton. Freddie is STILL the second leading receiver. I didnt say they had a good D line. I said DT. Suh and Fairley. I said the rest of the defense was crap. I would expect a good show by a QB who has guys piling up YAC yards. Runs after the catch were all on the field. You bring up 2 teams that started off slow and are suggesting what? That because the Giants beat themselves 2 consecutive weeks when they changed offenses, or a Packers team who has 1 real WR. For all the passing weapons we have, there is no way conceivable that todays happenings couldnt occur. Can you really name anyone on that D besides the 2 DTs and Levy? Why didnt you mention that Cam Newton dominated them? So you bring up Aaron Rogers, and Eli because it helps your arguement but dont take into account that Cam Newton, with injured ribs, threw for 281? Why is it I cant just say wait until we play a team that has seen footage, and has a better all around defense before we get so excited? 5 yds a carry. But had he had holes and not had to drag people you think those 50 yds dont turn to 75? Im not defending Spiller but the fact is we need that line to have an identity. Do they run block or are they pass pro guys? I think my big thing is that Marrone was supposed to be a line guru. And the offensive line is the weakest part of the offense. Thats my gripe. I just want an identity. And I want a team that can get tough yards because the big boys up front do their job.

Orton was a nice show for the day. Lets wait and see if we get the same result when teams have film on Orton. And if there were holes we would get more than 50 yds out of Freddie too. There were a lot of short throws. And Orton is not terribly accurate. The offense needs to be scrapped. Its crap. Point blank
-
Wh bring them up? Do they have Freddie or Sammy who bailed out Orton. After this game I am convinced that it is the play calling. We ran so many short dinky throws it was sickening. Hackett doesnt know how to air it out. The offense is very unimaginative. You failed to mention however, that the Detroit Lions have arguably the most dominant DT in the game. And Fairley is no slouch either. Did anyone really expect to go and run up the gut on them? Behind that line. they had crap. Crap linebackers and a crap secondary. There is no way we shouldnt have broken the 300 yard mark today in the air. The FACT is that this team has given up on EJ. The receivers dont believe in him anymore and it shows. Its not an indictment on him. But you know and I know that Sammy wouldnt have tried to make that catch for EJ.
-
Exactly. How do you give this guy competition agaon someone who was 1 hit away from beong out of the league. Then your only replacements are guys that you know EJ WILL beat.this guy is a student. He wants it. Make him learn. Make him compete.he wants to work. Barring injuries he will be a qb who can win. Its pretty telling that he went outside the team for mentoring isnt it?

Hey Marrone - Start Bryce Brown!
Agent 91 replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So the o line... improved on paper. Performs worse. The defensive front 7 about on par with last year in regards to getting what they are supposed to do done. The secondary regresses and its NOT because of Byrd. Running backs worse according to this thread. QB is terrible according to TSW but... we really leave the coaching staff unscathed. How about putting a magnifying glass on them. Is it fair to just pick off all the players who are not mailing in plays (wrs aside). We have a young team. And we need coaching. We need mentors we need to be shown how to get there. They have so much talent on the team individually. EJ might be the main one I didnt really get impressed by in college. When is it going to be that we hire a coaching staff that TRULY plays to the player strengths. We saw last year. McKelvin and Gilmore... cant believe I said the latter... make strides. We saw a d line knife through the line and get to the qb at will. We needed B Spikes to help on the run but is there really no middle man. An attacking d that could use Spikes ? I dont understand why Manny Lawson isnt getting more playing time. I dont get the Corey Graham 4th cb thing. I dont understand why the d had to change that much. On offense. Our HEAD coach is supposed to be a O line guru... let that marinate for a while. But we have some of the worst guards. Lets look at who Chan hadon the line. And lets look at who the qb was. How did they look so good. All rapid fire quick plays. Did Fitzpatrick have plenty of 5-7 step drops. How many long balls did we throw? And the offense generally worked. Why get cute and dump so much money on Chris Williams? Why move Pears to guard? Why why why? So many pieces but the team leaders are so inept at what they are doing that we are left to point out CJ... EJ... Gilmore... McKelvin... and posters choice. Something has to be done. And I honestly dont care who we play. I dont care who comes and who goes. Until we have the right staff in place we go no where. I didn't post this to attack anyone. Its a post plainly to vent. I might be right. I might be wrong. But its just how I feel. In some weird way I think Dixon replaces Freddy. Its really abstract but that makes more sense to me not an nfl fan but a bills fan so I ask how many rbs had 10+ rds and who were they. With this supposed the nf is a passing league isnt a 10 td expectation a little high. Especially since we run 3 rbs any given game? -
Offensive game plan moving forward

Mike is 6'2" but it's not the size I think so much as his strength leaping ability just the watch will go up and get it that makes him a red zone threat -
NFL Rewind ReWatch - Counting EJ Unforced Errors
Agent 91 replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If EJ learned to made better decisions. Took the year to work on mechanics. I could luv with the occasional inaccurate throws. I think he really gets skittish back there. The confidence from week 1and 2 are long gone. If he learned from SOMEONE that taking risks... and losing sometimes is ok. Thats something Fritz would have taught him. I miss that guy alot. I wish he had NFL physical ability. I like to say...He sucked, but didnt know it. And that swagger will take you far. -
Ahh I can go with that. I think Fitz might have had fun with this team. And I dont know what it is about Orton that just says scrub to me
-
What does that have to do with the arm strength that I am guessing he is making allusions to. I havent agreed with much you have said seeing as how you hate EJ in EVERY thread. But I cant deny he throws behind on more throws than not. I dont know about the passes that the receivers aren't looking. I dont know if it is a timing route. Or just miscommunication. I dont know enough about Orton but I dont think anyone would be that much better behind this mess of an o line.
-
No no. After a week sample size we will all be saying how great he is and how he should have started sooner. But 3 weeks in, after the game planning he will look like poo too. This board is too emotional. They better ante up and buy a QB and some guards this off season. The draft is not their strong suit
-
Lol sooo you are telling me that any oc with half a brain who sees his INACCURATE RAW LEARNING QB getting beat to dust behind a sub par pass blocking line, and sees his running backs picking up 430-64 yards a run. And decides to abandon the only thing that works for something that had no prayer is not to blame? Whatever man. I get it. Half of buffalo hates EJ... and says they dont. But lets keep on topic. You seriously are sitting here telling me you didn't see anything wrong with passing all the while CJ and Freddie were gaining decent yardage? Goes back before I was born.... And that's 1984. Jim Kelly was ready made.
-
Dude... you wouldn't be happy with Bridgewater? I felt as though he would have been a great pick... especially see in as though no one was interested in picking him high. We could have had a potential franchise guy
-
Honestly I dont really think EJ had a real impact on whether to abandon the run. It was working. And they just stopped. I think EJ is best with Chandler Fred and CJ. And I think outside of the internet those plays worked. It all boils down to the o line. They just cant block the run or pass. I bet dollars to doughnuts we will see the Lions or Patriots running 4 man stunts. No outside pressure needed. EJ looked like he might be making a little progress. Then the chargers stunted. EJ was not effective. And the Texans stunted opposite Watt. And he crapped the bed. The wors is out. if you stunt against buffalo you will reap huge benefits.
-
I thought the aame thing. You have Watt on the Sid of the field the play is going to and you dont block him. Could EJ done something else? Sure. But it was a timing wheel route and you have to think your tackle is gonna get his hands on Watt of all people. This all goes back to the preseason when EJs passes were all tipped down at the line. That o line was scared. All 5 of them. If it werent Orton. I would not mind benching EJ to watch and digest the game. He is not a bust. However he isnt ready yet... WHICH WE KNEW WHEN HE WAS DRAFTED.
