Tyrod named starting QB of Browns
dezertbill replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed This is where some coaches fall short. While I can't blame Hue Jackson for finally being happy to have a competent QB, to make a statement that there IS no competition this early sends the wrong message. While McDermott, no matter the player, makes it clear that they have to come in and compete for their job. That's what they call creating a culture. Jackson is creating a poor one, and why he has taken the hit for the 1-31 record despite the talent issues the team has had. -
No worries. I’m telling Ya the Bills are all in on Sam Darnold or Baker Mayfield

Ross Tucker Says We're Likely Signing McCarron
dezertbill replied to ndirish1978's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can see McCarron to Bills. Although personally I don't see any FA QB worth their salt coming to Buffalo when everyone knows they are going all in to draft their QB of the future. And I don't see whoever that is sitting on the bench for a year or more. -
Per ESPN Bills very likely to persue Dolphins SUH
dezertbill replied to 17 Josh Allen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Suh is getting run out of Miami to clean up the "culture". Do you think a coach like McD would want him here? If anything, I see him going to NE. -
If you were the Browns....would you...

How crazy would it be if the Browns gave up the first overall for Le'veon Bell? Steelers take Barkley? -
Bills interested in Sam Bradford

What are the chances the Bills are moving up to swing a deal for Andrew Luck? -
Bills interested in Sam Bradford
dezertbill replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Getting the 3rd best FA QB when everyone knows they are all in for drafting their QB for the future this draft would be a coup. -
This means two things. Either Beane is OK with either Darnold or Mayfield, or they really feel Barkley to Browns and non-QB to Giants and are able to get there guy at 3. If they have two choices in mind than 4 might work as well. But I have to believe if Buffalo is going all in to move up it's for 1 guy, not two. Perhaps they think if they move up to 3 or 4 it will be easier to get to 2?

Bills interested in Sam Bradford
dezertbill replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is going to happen. Over last 17 games 9-8 4259 Passing Yards 23 TD's 5 INT's 250 Avg Y/G 101.1 QB Rating Never had back to back seasons of missing more than 3 games. Last year he missed 2. It's all about his knee. If he checks out, he's a Bill. -
Could Hughes be next? $10.4 mil cap
dezertbill replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McD is a big Hughes fan. I don't see it -
I firmly believe that Darnold is THE QB of this draft. 1. Darnold 2. Mayfield 3. Allen 4. Rosen. I see the Bills shooting up with the Giants to pick Darnold. If there is a guy they think is the best, you have to go all in for him. It's a unique situation that 20 years will tell you when you see one you go all in for it. With that being said, I can see the Bills happy with either Darnold or Mayfield. If that's the case then you give up less and trade with the Colts or Browns (depending who goes 3 or 4). I don't see Allen or Rosen going before those two. I even see Rosen dropping to the teens. With that being said, these FA QBs are in unique situations. Keenum, Bridgewater, McCarron aren't "bridge" QBs in their minds. I don't see a guy like Bradford agreeing to come to Buffalo after the situation that happened when the Eagles drafted Wentz and he complained he wanted to be traded cuz he thought he was the starter. Those three most likely want to go to a situation where they may start for a couple of years. No way Buffalo is trading the house for Darnold and letting him sit for 2 years. When I see guys like Matt Moore on our radar, I wince but realize everyone knows we are going all in this draft and Moore-types are the only one's that would be willing to enter our situation IMO.

OPINION: We have a trade partner in place
dezertbill replied to McBean's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's either/or. If the Bills don't sign a veteran that can come in and start from week 1 then they have a partner in place for the draft to move up. My favorites would be Giants (Gettlemen/Beane History) or Browns. With Browns trading for Tyrod I don't see them taking a QB early first round. You take a guy 4th overall he is going to start this year. You don't trade a 3rd rounder for a guy you are going to sit. This is good news for Bills fans. If Cousins goes to Jets or Broncos then the Bills may be able to move up top 6 and get there guy without giving up the house. Although trading TT for a 3rd today screams piling up ammo for big move up. -
Do bills/Browns potentially have deal in place?
dezertbill replied to *******'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe the Bills have assigned a draft value to each of the FA they have signed thus far. Vontae Davis has a draft pick value, same for Ivory and the LB form the Giants. All of these FA signings will not be involved in the compensatory formula. So if the Bills assigned Davis a 3rd round grade, then that 3rd round pick can then be traded away without loss of value. So let's just assign Davis a 3rd round grade, Ivory a 4th round grade, and the Giants LB a 6th round grade. Those picks will then be traded away to move up or acquire other players. -
TRADE TYROD/ GET BRADFORD/ DRAFT FUTURE
dezertbill replied to DKBills25's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm actually on board with this. The Bills QB position has been a problem for far too long. We have extra picks this year. We need to get a serious handle on it. TT needs to go, that's a given. He has reached his ceiling, and we all know what he cannot do. Buffalo is not in a position to draft a QB to sit the bench or struggle through a rookie year with a journeyman filling the gap. They need a QB who can come in and play competently until their "QB of the Future" is ready. It's just to important of a position to not ensure it's covered. -
I think he was just being kind. Watkins will most likely get a crazy contract from somebody. Heck, it only takes 1 team to believe in him. He didn't have a QB in Buffalo and was part of a crowded WR core in LA that found him behind the 8 ball being traded in the middle of pre-season. He will sign with a team in March and go through a full off season of OTA's and getting acclimated with the QB. It will also be a team who has a QB who can win by throwing the ball, unlike the Bills. For the money he will most likely command, Buffalo seems like the last place he would get it from since he was traded from here. San Fran has a ton of space along with a former teammate (Goodwin) and a need for WR. Texans needs help at WR along with his college roommate. I can also see teams like the Jets, Jaguars and even Broncos take a look at him. Not Buffalo though.

The Darkhorse No One has Mentioned
dezertbill replied to NastyNateSoldiers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anderson is 35 and has been invisible for the last 3 years. 2 TD's to 5 INT's over last three years? Barely played a snap in two of those seasons. Not sure what grounds you are basing him being a "competent" QB, but I don't see a guy who is nothing more than a clip board holder be given the reigns to a playoff franchise that is looking to improve on their 9-7 record from last season. Could he be signed as a backup? Maybe. But starter? That's crazy. -
It should be interesting to see how the Bills are looked upon by FA WR's once they make a move at QB. It's obvious having TT under center didn't make the Bills a WR destination. Only 1 receiver over the last three years has had more than 650 receiving yards with TT (Sammy 1047 in 2015). Stats for Robert Woods and Marquis Goodwin (when healthy) suffered and were ready to move on once their contract ended. This season WR didn't seem like a position Buffalo put a lot of weight into until the traded for K Benjamin this season. 2017 showed Beane they need talent behind center and at receiver. A bunch of no names just didn't cut it. Buffalo will replace TT with a guy who will average more than 180 yards per game. Hopefully that change will position Buffalo be a place where WR's feel their stats won't tank. Although I don't see the Bills breaking the bank at WR this off season, I do see them having more options in FA if they so choose once they find a more proficient passer. Not only this season, but beyond.

Chiefs trade Alex Smith to washington
dezertbill replied to Castellar's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This shocked me as well. I think Fuller is more value than the 3rd. KC robbed Washington. -
Tyrod last 3 years: 62.6% Completion 8857 Pass Yds 51 TD's/16 INT's 14 Rush TD's Pass Yards/Game: 201 4th Quarter Comebacks: 3 Game Winning Drives: 5 Cousins last 3 yrs: 67.2% Completion 13,176 Pass Yds 81 TD's/ 36 INT's 13 Rush TD's Pass Yards/Game: 274.5 4th Quarter Comebacks: 7 Game Winning Drives: 11 Accurate, throws the ball down the field, passing game won't load the box, can win in the clutch. I'll take Cousins all day.
-
"I'm a thorough guy, detailed guy." Tell me again how Mc D and Cousins aren't a perfect fit??? It will be us. Then we'll be able to use our 5 picks in the top 100 to pick starters for next season instead of trading/losing assets to move up and pick a QB who will spend a couple years getting acclimated to the pro game.
-
He may not have been their cup of tea. I think a team like Denver is a better fit. They need a QB who won't screw it up and allow the defense to win it. Tyrod can be that guy.

If finishing in the Top 10 in all major QB stats is mediocre then I wish we had mediocre -

That contract is wack. $23.5 million a year till age 38. Not sure what the Redskins see in him over Cousins. I can't imagine Cousins wanting more than $25 mil per year and he's 5 years younger. -
They are probably shopping him for a 3rd. May settle for a conditional 4th if the process drags on. It's early, but it should get done. By doing so, not only do the Bills get an additional pick, but they eliminate one of the QB needy teams like a Denver from drafting a QB. Heightens their chances of one being avail at 21.
