  1. Rodak actually picked us last week. He, along with most of us, found out the hard way on Sunday that this Bills team just ain't that good. However, I stopped following him on Twitter when he said the TD reception at the end of the game was made by Lee Smith.
  2. So what do we have here? Some people believe Manuel has the tools to be a franchise QB, and some don't. We won't know the answer by the end of this season but if Manuel plays all 6 games, we will have a much better idea. He doesn't have to be the best, but he has to be a top 15 QB for the team to be a playoff contender. If he demonstrates that ability, the Bills should stick with him, even potentially through another "development" year. If he doesn't show that ability, and the team ends up with a top 5 pick, they would be foolish to pass on a better QB prospect out of embarrassment to admit that EJ didn't pan out as they had planned.
  3. Good QBs win, bad QBs don't. The rest is just details to keep everyone talking and thinking that they have it all figured out.
  4. It has. And the offense is worse. All told, it adds up to the same losing record.
  5. Here are the statistics demonstrating the Bills' defense is terrible. Take away this, add that, factor in injuries, and they're actually middle of the pack! Sorry I am not persuaded by this post, though I do appreciate the thought put into it.
  6. I think you just gave us the recap of the PIT game with some very slight changes.
  7. Marrone came out with this stat today: Manuel had the 3rd best QBR through his first 5 games of any QB since 2000. Translation: game 6 was an anomaly and he was on the right track before the injury.
  8. This is the only reasonable opinion on the issue. If the bills have a top 5 pick it means EJ did nothing in these final 6 games and Marrone better abandon him if he wants any chance at keeping his job. If the Bills pass on ANOTHER quality NFL QB early in next year's draft all the while standing by EJ who could not demonstrate anything in his rookie year, then they deserve to be perpetually in the basement. If EJ steps up and wins games, gets us to 8-8 or even 7-9, you stand by him.
  9. If the Bills play like they did against NE, BAL, CAR, KC, MIA they will win. If they play like they did against the Jets last time or against PIT they will lose. But I agree with everyone who says the point of these last 6 games is to figure out if EJ is the guy or has a reasonably good chance to become the guy. If so, this team can contend next year. If not, they have to seriously consider drafting a QB in the early rounds and holding another open competition in camp.
  10. One of the most encouraging deep scouting reports on EJ before the season was that he was a fast learner and didn't repeat mistakes. I've actually found that to be about as incorrect as you could possibly be. He looked good in his first two games and you saw the talent, and also the room to grow. Here we are after week 10 and he has still never looked better than he did in those first two games. I understand he's had major injuries, but the scouting report also said he was durable... If he's bad again vs. the Jets, will you still blame the coaches?
  11. Because CJ was awful. Avoiding wide open holes so he could run our of bounds for no yards. Coach benched him because he was playing loser football.
  12. Where is this strong arm everyone has been talking about? On which of his 3 yard passes Sunday did he demonstrate it?
  13. 6) the Bills are bad at football.
  14. Check out Joe Buscaglia's photos he is tweeting of Spiller's runs. He missed big holes right up the middle and bounced outside instead. That's not Hackett's fault. It's also not Hackett's fault that EJ had no confidence to throw down field and checked down repeatedly even when more yardage was needed. The offense simply didn't execute so there is no way to know whether the play calls would have worked had they been executed properly.
  15. Bills also have no cross-country trips all season. Take the good with the bad.
  16. The Bills will play hard if for no other reason than to spoil the Jets' playoff aspirations and to show that they didn't make the wrong QB choice. I actually am expecting the Bills to win and I will chalk it up under the "too little too late" category.
  17. Tuel sucked EXCEPT for that awesome TD bomb. Manuel sucked period. No except. That was the difference. I certainly am not a Tuel supporter, but I am bringing it up to highlight just how inexcusably bad EJ was yesterday.
  18. Jeff Tuel, undrafted rookie, first start ever, against best Defense in NFL. And he played way better. Now that, is all.
  19. If Thad Lewis was the project drafted in the 1st round, I would be optimistic. If Tuel was the project drafted in the 1st round, I would be optimistic. Both of them, though not great, proved themselves capable of doing SOME things at the NFL level. What did Manuel show yesterday? In the most important game of the season for a team clinging to its season hopes? Absolutely nothing! No fight like Thad. No deep ball like Tuel. No creativity. No decision making. No confidence. Being a project insinuates that you have first round talent that needs to be developed and refined. Where was that talent yesterday? Did you see ANY sign of it? Even for a moment? I didn't. And that tells me the first round pick was a giant swing and miss.
  20. The problem is all rational talk of running the table ended yesterday. That was an easy game and the Bills lost it, proving that no game is easy for them. I would like to see them go 8-8, but at this point I think that is highly unlikely and would rather them just lose out to realise that they need to draft another QB with their top 5 pick.
  21. But Kiko, Woods and Goodwin all look like quality draft picks. Certainly Kiko was a great pick. This was a good draft for the Bills but it ultimately depends on whether EJ pans out because he is a QB and was taken in the first round. There is reason for optimism, IMO, that the drafting will continue to be good, but I do think they have to take a shot at another QB. What's to lose?
  22. I'm sorry I thought this was the NFL. Rusty? Just not an acceptable excuse, I'm sorry. He's been practicing for two weeks. He played worse than either Tuel or Thad did in their first games, when they were seeing their first live action, and neither of them were drafted. EJ spends too much time tweeting about his college football team. Where is his head? Is he even focused on being a winning QB for the Bills? It certainly seemed like it at the beginning of the year, but now we all should be questioning whether he has the right mental makeup to go with all the question marks we already knew about his physical skill set.
  23. He didn't throw one good pass all game. At least Tuel had a few of them.
  24. It's amazing, isn't it? But it happened.
  25. WHAT IF EJ CANT PLAY IN THE COLD OH NOES.
