I think people need to pump the brakes on this. It makes no sense for them to cover anything up only to fire him now. There was no leak about any misgivings before the firing. This time last week, everyone thought Russ was just as untouchable as he was under Wilson.
I think the Pegulas handled it fine.
Why? We've done that for the past 20 years and it hasn't worked.
My opinion is, those who can play football, play football. Those who can't, coach football, and those who can't do either, work in the front office.
I'm glad he left. I'm still not convinced he's a good head coach. He's doing in Jacksonville exactly what he did here in Buffalo, which is exactly what Sean Payton did in NO. Sell out your future with expensive FAs to get a 1 to 2 year window for a chamionship, then sit back for the next decade secure in your job.
Marrone has been a HC and OC for years, and I've yet to see him put together a competent offense.
That's what stood out to me. It screams that Allen's receivers WERE NOT GOOD AT ALL. That number screams of "his receivers weren't athletic enough to separate, weren't strong enough to overpower DBs after the catch, but Allen still got the ball in their hands."
What about the kicking team gets to put a player 5 yards in front of every receiving team's player, except the return man and kicker? Defenders cannot advance until the return man catches the ball.
I'm not just talking about the Bills, I'm talking about downtown Buffalo. An open air stadium is an economic black hole. A dome could be used for other things that would bring commerce downtown.
Bills fans need to get over this myth that Buffalo weather is an advantage. Only one team in our history said it was, and that team was so damn good they probably would've beaten any team regardless of where they played (except the Super Bowl)
Dome is the best option. No reason to spend the extra taxpayer dollars for a retractable roof because of this myth of "Buffalo weather advantage", and open air downtown pretty much guarantees that the only thing it can be used for is Bills games.
The difference between both of those trades are that Cleveland and NY are still going to get the players that they want. Cleveland gets Allen, NY gets Barkely/Chubb. We are basically giving them both free picks to get ahead of the Jets.
