  1. Taking a chance on OBJ isn’t the worst idea if he’s playing on an incentive laden contract. But relying on him is another matter entirely. Sign him and the prudent course of action still would be to add more young talent on day 1 or 2 of the draft.
  2. I agree that there are reasons Miami might not be Carr’s optimal choice. The NFC is certainly much more desirable from the standpoint of how he’d rank among QBs in the conference. Tua is much less a factor however. If Miami makes a move for a QB like Carr, then they’re moving on from him. It’s over. Of course the biggest advantages of going to Miami are Hill, Waddle and a very QB friendly offense. So there’s a lot to be said for choosing the Dolphins if they’re interested.
  3. Not me. Any monetary investment from the Pegulas will be minimal. In disclosing the general breakdown of contributing sources to fund the stadium I couldn’t help but notice that included within the Pegulas $350M contribution was revenue from the personal seat licenses. I don’t know what their initial revenue from the PSLs will be, but Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta netted $273M from them. Teams also get to resell any that fans forfeit so it can be a future revenue stream in the event that the team hits hard times and eventually rebounds. Edited to add: I understand that this is the cost of having an NFL team. It just sucks and I can see why some cities are happy to not have to deal with a franchise in their city.
  4. Also Miami has precious little draft capital so it would be difficult to trade for a QB. They have to find someone to play QB besides Tua and they don’t pick until 52 so Carr makes a lot of sense for them.
  5. While Gibbs would be an extremely depressing pick at 27, I do think that RB needs to be addressed in some way(s). Motor is gone unless he comes back cheap. Hines is likely a cut unless he takes a pay cut. Cook would be a decent option for one of our two top RBs if not for his terrible pass pro. The RB FA market should yield an option at very reasonable cost. Ditto day 3 of the draft. And maybe Cook can clean up his pass pro too.
  6. I wonder if his advice about focusing on our own jobs extends to Sundays at 1 pm? I mean, it is odd to hear that fans are not allowed to have their own opinions about something that they consume. It’s even more confusing to hear that from someone making a very comfortable living off of that product.
  7. That's fair. And I think it’s reasonable to expect the coaches and FO to stay the course until we see otherwise.
  8. I agree that OL needs to be addressed, but FA is first and we will need to find help there. WR help doesn’t have to come in round 1. Adding a quality WR who can uncover quickly will help the OL by giving Allen opportunities to get the ball out quickly.
  9. I have slowed my posting because it seems like I’m just repeating myself. We are barely into the off-season so there isn’t much happening. Free agency starts in about a month and then soon after draft talk will ramp up. But really nothing else besides running back the same staff, last season and how it ended to talk about right now.
  10. There are multiple facets that need to be improved upon. Certainly the OL needs more talent. But the answer is more complex than just throwing a ton of resources at it as that would only do so much if none of the other issues got addressed. For starters, the scheme and communication between Allen and the receivers needs more than tweaking. Kurt Warner’s breakdown of the Cincy game showed several issues, including plays where: - there was no hot read - receivers failed to change adjust to a hot read route or look - plays where Allen did not take shorter, open throws and held the ball too long while looking for a downfield throw More talent at WR would also help. WRs who can uncover quickly give their QBs opportunities to get the ball out quickly. Again, the scheme has to support this, but more talent helps. Yes, I’d like to see the Bills OL become above average. It doesn’t need to be the best in the league, but it needs to be better. The WR corps needs to be better, the coaching needs to be better and the play calling needs to be better.
  11. In particular I thought the NFL’s use of Pat Tillman and his death as a PR prop was disgusting.
  12. My wife googled that. Rhianna is indeed preggers.
  13. If it wasn’t at the expense of adding talent to an offense that really needs it, then it would be a different situation. Day 1 and 2 picks under this regime: DL - 2 Firsts, 2 Seconds, 1 Third (and a huge FA signing with Miller) LBs - 1 First, 1 Third DBs - 2 Firsts Day 1 & 2 picks on offense: QB - 1 First RB - 1 second, 2 Thirds WR - 1 First traded for Diggs, 1 Second TE - 1 Third OL - 1 Second, 1 Third In an offense driven league.
  14. Massive beer conglomerate gets three of their beers in one commercial.
  15. First place at the quarter pole.
  16. Frazier. And it’s not close. Ryan’s defense is not suited for today’s NFL. It wasn’t even suited for it when he was here almost a decade ago.
  17. I feel the same way, but leave Yolo alone! He’s a good dude. And he’s been around.
  18. I understand why you’d say that, but think about it from the viewpoint of a GM. Say you’ve built an excellent roster, but lack a quality QB - and you aren’t picking high enough to get a good QB prospect. Would you want to keep rolling along with the status quo where you’ll top out at mediocre? That will get you fired in a season or two. Or would you rather spend a bunch of your owner’s money and some draft picks on Lamar? If you make the move and it doesn’t work out and you get fired, then you won’t be there to clean up the mess of being stuck with a QB who isn’t living up to his contract, cap hell and no high picks. Personally you’re probably no worse off than not making the move for him. If it does work out, your team is successful, you’re the hero and you get a huge new contract. This is the reason some team will take the risk and go all in for Lamar.
  19. Especially when those superior fans take time to come here and talk down to the other people on the board?
  20. I don’t think he’s to the point where he’s sure. If he was, then he’d already be asking to be traded. But I think he’s worried about the coaches and FO. He obviously loves his teammates, but he needs to see them care as much as he does. That means seeing the same effort and dedication from the other players and the staff. If he doesn’t think they are up to it, he will want to leave.
  21. Again. That is completely ridiculous for a variety of reasons: - look at what HOU could get for $10.75M on the FA market - quality players available early in the 3rd - 3rd round would be way cheaper - 3rd rounder would be under team control for 4 years instead of 1 like Oliver and could actually be there if they turn things around
  22. I’ve met Daboll. He seemed a like a good dude. His fiancée (now wife) was very nice too. Our daughters knew each other from soccer and she is a good kid too. Incidentally my friend’s son took her to prom last year. I saw the pictures. She really grew up to be beautiful. I wish him and his family nothing but the best. I have never met Hodgins or his family, but I have no problem seeing him do well. Good for him. Unless I know that someone is a bad person I don’t begrudge anyone their success. If I think they’re a good person, then I root for it.
  23. You can’t be serious about a third round pick. No chance in hell. A flip of proximate day three picks is more like it. Sadly, that is true. After all the picks and cap space they have spent on the DL, it’s still a need.
  24. Agree that a healthy Miller is huge. That helped Oliver’s game. Well, he helped everyone’s game. Getting pressure consistently with four - or even three at times - is huge for defenses. That can be the best way to slow down great QBs.
