  1. Not only that, Salgado has been here since 2017. Poyer and Hyde have been stellar the whole time and backups seemed to know their assignments when on the field. I understand that sometimes coaches get fired for reasons unrelated to their main job such as disagreements/personality conflicts with their managers. Maybe he told McD and Frazier they were stupid for rolling out soft coverages against the Bengals and they wanted him off the staff if he wasn’t on board with their plan. Who knows? It’s just weird though. I’ve got no idea what’s up with the new hire. I hope he does well here.
  2. Spotrac’s market value calcs are notoriously wonky. They are often a good place to start but you have got to look at the current year’s market and think logically about it too.
  3. Yup. Allen, Barkley, a day 3 pick and a dumpster dive FA to give us 4 for our 90. Josh and another go to the 53 and one of the others to the PS.
  4. You can always tell the quality of a team by the quality of their excuses. Right? Isn’t that the saying? That’s why KC brought up their hobbled QB and injury riddled WR room at the press conference after they lost to the team that beat us. GMAFB. You can add “out coached” to unprepared and dominated.
  5. Exactly this. From reading this site, you’d think we were a JV high school team. “Hey, Coach we’re slipping all over the place out there on these cleats!” McD: “Wow, that too bad. I guess you’ll just have to deal with it today. We’ll try to get it worked out for next week.” LOL
  6. And I’m sure that’s true. But they’re going to spend in some fashion on a QB this off-season even if they prefer it to be someone other than Jones. That is not likely the case at RB. Keeping Jones as an option only helps them in negotiations for other QBs. Besides, he might be their best short term option anyway.
  7. What else would he say? It’s worth noting that his 5th year option for 2023 was not picked up last offseason. I guess a transition or non-exclusive franchise tag are still options. I just don’t see the Giants committing to him long term.
  8. Seems like Jones’ agent is working hard for his client.
  9. Just a really bad idea that would horribly damage the parity in the league. The thought of it is rooted in short term self-interest.
  10. Perfect answer. None of us know what combination of the above is the reason for the Bills OL declining from below average last season to even more below average this season. But my eyes told me that was the case long before today when I saw those numbers from PFF.
  11. F no. It seems like every freaking position - including 4 backup defensive lineman - is of utmost importance in McDermott’s/Frazier’s defense. Yet that defense still falters every year in the playoffs. How about they spend some money and picks on the offense and make do with a modestly priced FA at MLB and see how that goes? Maybe even coach a guy up. It’s time to flip our resource allocation and help Allen and the offense out.
  12. My guess is that they got the 4 years, $44M contract estimate from Spotrac. They have it calculated as his market value. Obviously a player’s calculated value can be very different than the contract that player gets or that player’s asking price. If Edmunds was willing to sign for anything close to that contract it would’ve happened before last offseason leading into his $12.7M option year. I fully expect the Bills to make the mistake of re-signing Edmunds to an egregiously large contract instead of using that cap space on the offense.
  13. Absolutely it is what happened. The Bills had a glaring need at one position - cornerback. It was so obvious that would be the position they had to take that I not only called the position, I called the slight trade up we’d need to make well before the draft. The trade up was necessary because everyone with a clue knew we’d take a CB and the Bills knew they’d likely get jumped if they didn’t.
  14. Everyone knew the Bills painted themselves into a corner and had to draft a CB in the first. It was also obvious that they’d need to trade up at least a little bit to make sure they didn’t get jumped for their guy. They did that, but only two picks. I can’t say for sure that Beane had McDuffie ranked ahead of Elam, but I am sure they should have. KC made the right move there obviously.
  15. That’s because we are approximately $22M over the cap now. The first $22M we free up just gets us to $0.
  16. You said “restructure” which specifically means keeping compensation the same but changing its structure. Usually that means converting salary or a roster bonus into a signing bonus to delay the cap hit. What you mean is that you want him to take a pay cut. I don’t have any issue with that, but if he said “no” we’d probably have to part ways with him and find a FA C to replace him. He’s due a roster bonus on the 3rd day of the league year so it would have to be done before then. I’d like to see a new OG and competition at RT so that could mean 3 new starters on the OL. That might not be optimal, but I’d be open to it. Another way to go would be to draft a player this year who (hopefully) will be his replacement next year and part ways next offseason. That obviously would work with or without going down the pay cut path.
  17. That would not do a whole lot of good. Any cap space we could push out would just hit next year.
  18. We are very lucky Morse has held up as well as he has. We should have had our future C on the roster two drafts ago, but we didn’t take one. Then we ignored it again last year. We have to draft one this April.
  19. While it is necessary to restructure some contracts, the Bills have to keep an eye on future seasons. They currently have approximately $220M allocated in 2024. Restructures this season will add to that cap number.
  20. My point is that judging every move by every team on whether or not they won the Super Bowl that season is absurd. By those standards every move 31 teams made were bad and every move Philly or KC made was good. It’s just ridiculous.
  21. That’s a very solid draft overall. People forget how few draft picks actually work out. Too WR with Diggs via trade, back up DE, solid (if limited) starting WR, quality PK, great depth/decent spot starter at CB and a good depth WR we let go. Really tough to complain about this one. The big issue is that the two drafts since have not yielded much value.
