Some insight on Bills first round and how it went down
BarleyNY replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’d have preferred a more aggressive move up for JSN. If not that, then I’m good with what the Bills. -
Several good prospects were available Kinda figured it had to be a MLB tho. I’d have been happy with any of several but thought Adebawore might have been too tempting to pass on. I wonder why he’s still available? If we’d have stayed put at 27 and gone with a DT, then Darnell Washington would’ve been really nice in the third. As it stood a good case could’ve been made for Wright (WR) or Ika (NT). If roster space allows I like having a couple DTs on the roster that can pair up to stop the run when needed. I’m only confident we have one right now in Jones. Edit. meant Wright, not Scott

Oh is he AZ’s GM now? -
I just saw someone say Gronk too. Combo of Kupp, Kelce and Gronk! This guy should’ve gone 1 overall!

The era of the DD KKgun has begun…. Who else is excited?

Let’s think all the way through the nicknames before we post….. -

I don’t believe that. If rather than acquire a draft pick they are keeping an aging $20M WR around for Colt McCoy to throw to this season then the AZ FO should all be fired. -
Nomenclature question for the board...
BarleyNY replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
A lot of posters here think NFL draft boards look like the mock draft simulators. Teams generally don’t stack players vertically like that, they use a horizontal draft board. That ranks players by draft ranges where they are considered appropriate value. A lot of different information can be added to that- ratings, red flags, etc. So when it’s time to pick there usually isn’t just one player there sticking out, though that does happen - there are several players to discuss and chose from. -

The Steelers punked the Jest. Payback for Derrelle Revis. Took them 16 years, but they did it. -
I certainly see the fit. The offense needs someone besides Diggs that can uncover early. That will be especially useful in the red zone. So I’m guessing we will see a lot of 11 personnel when there’s a lot of field in front of us and a lot of 12 in the RZ. I only watched the ASU game so I haven’t seen a lot of film. I love his hands and route running. But I really hate his “blocking” and dislike that he’s an older prospect - he’ll be 24 in October. I’m not wild about the back injury either. Still, I really didn’t see a lot of better options out there at 25/27. I’d have much preferred a more aggressive trade up into the teens for JSN though.

So signing for a lot more money than he could have last year, becoming the highest paid NFL player ever (as of today) and doing it all without an agent or paying their commissions isn’t anything special or smart? You’re certainly welcome to that opinion. I think he did pretty damn well.
-
It was smart of Lamar to handle it the way he did: Pay me early and I want a fully guaranteed deal. If not, I’ll wait for more total money and guarantees. What’s wrong with that?
-
No. He was just holding his guarantee demands unrealistically high until the QB contracts and guarantees took another jump up. He let Hurst’s agent do the heavy lifting and then he piggybacked on it and added his bump.
-
Last year they didn’t agree to what Lamar just got.
-
Absolutely. He’s the highest paid player in the league by AAV, has the 2nd highest total dollar contract (only Mahomes’ 10 year deal totals more) and has the 2nd most guaranteed dollars. Yeah, seems like the Ravens caved. If your argument against that is that he didn’t get 100% guaranteed, then you should learn about how negotiations work.
-
The Ravens didn’t cave all the way to a fully guaranteed deal, but they caved. No one seems to think of the possibility that Lamar was just playing hardball. Negotiators generally ask for more than they expect to get.
-
Signing bonus cap hits can only be spread out over 5 seasons - and that is only if the contract has at least 5 seasons on it. Void years count toward that. Every dollar paid on Rodgers contract must hit the cap eventually. It can be spread out over the length of time he plays for the NYJ plus an additional year or two. One extra can be done by using a void year (or years) and two with a void year(s) plus cutting the player with a June 1st designation. That would have to be done the season after the last one played but before the contract voided.

Someone can always outbid you if they want something bad enough. It happens.

Cleveland cut the producers a better deal on taxes and expenditures than Buffalo. They were going hard after the movie filming niche at the time.
-
silver lining! and they have no picks in the first two rounds for like the next three years so if their athletically limited, try-hard quarterback doesn’t pan out, they can’t draft another one for four years.
