  1. Who I haven’t seen discussed is the player with the worst performance on that play - Dawkins. He completely whiffed on his block and his assignment blew up the play. It prevented Allen from running back across the field to his right, which looked to be the design. It not only took away that option, it forced a quick throw and got him hit.
  2. The Jest’s issue is that their owner is a train wreck. They obviously aren’t the only franchise like that. Sometimes those teams stumble into a FQB like Joe Burrow and that gives them a chance even when they undermine that player with their other terrible decisions. Sometimes those teams manage to build up some real talent too. The Jest have done that. But when they win it is in spite of their owner, not because of them. I am just happy to have one in our division because it helps us in the long run. This is a good time to remind everyone that the Jest are tied for fifth place in number of AFCE titles.
  3. He was surprisingly poor in the game I saw some of. There are some network executives who could lose their jobs over this kind of poor. He should have been brought along at lower levels of football prior to doing NFL games. I’m sure that he’ll be given time to develop, but right now it’s very rough going.
  4. As a blocker, no. As a receiver, Kincaid has an ability to set up defenders and get open that Knox doesn’t have. I think he’s going to need outside threats to open up the middle of the field for him to shine though. Also we will need a TE that can play in line unless his blocking continues to improve. The biggest issue this team has is the construction of its receiving corps. A trade for a WR that can threaten on the outside would be huge. If we can’t do that then the MOF will stay congested and we will have to rely on Allen to buy time and play superman.
  5. 1. Yeah. NFL teams are often vague with injuries, especially to their QB. When I heard “ hand” injury, I assumed they probably meant broken finger. 2. Good catch. That would explain it. 3. They played some 4-3 against Baltimore. For example, on their second drive they had Morrow, Spector and Williams on the field together. I saw Ingram out there in a 4-3 as well. As for seeing the combo you mentioned again, I don’t know that Milano will be back next season. As sad as it makes me, it seems like the Bills might move on. 4. Torrence needs to get it together for sure. I don’t expect them to make a change anytime soon though. They’ll let it play out for a while, which is the right way to handle it. 5. They really should get a kicker on the PS.
  6. Just looked at his contract to see how much cap space this will help the Bills. Not much due to the reworked contract. Only about $364k. But that led me to this thought. This looming suspension might have been why Von was willing to rework his deal. His break even with the incentives was 10.5 sacks. It looks like he will hit that - even if he misses 4 games. If he does, then he will come out ahead on the restructure by almost $4M. That is due to his lowered salary. Signing/restructure bonuses and incentives aren’t lost during a suspension. Only salary. That sucks.
  7. Agreed. Also not his first issue of this sort.
  8. Oliver seems to have developed into an above average player overall, but he’s limited in the run game. He’s undersized and uses quickness to get by OLmen. It is what it is. Again, I don’t think this play was on him. I think it was on Williams and/or the safety (Hamlin?).
  9. Oliver did get taken out by the Wham block, but Dorian Williams was the main issue on that play. He got sucked in by the trap movement to his right and vacated the hole Henry ran through. (A Wham run to the offense’s right looks a lot like a Trap run to their left.) I’ll look at Oliver’s play when I can stomach the All22 so I don’t know what it was like yet, but this was a weird play to call him out for.
  10. From what I’m hearing it (unsurprisingly) will depend on how their season goes. If they don’t start winning some games, it’s on the table. After this past offseason the odds that Cooper will be a Brown in 2025 are slim to none. Guessing compensation would be a third or a pick swap equivalent. The Bills second for Cooper and the Browns third would be a good option. The Browns could save face by saying they got a second while the Bills would only slide 10-15 spots (maybe less) and get a similarly ranked prospect. Plus we’d maintain the Vikings second. Cooper would be happy playing for a contender with a QB that can get him the ball and get him paid again. And the Bills would get a #1 WR for this season while only paying him vet minimum.
  11. Cooper is not all that happy in Cleveland. This is the first year that he has been there where the offense isn’t clicking at all. He held out for a new deal but only got incentives added for this season, his last under contract. I think he’d welcome coming to Buffalo, but an extension might be something he pushes for. Cleveland would probably move him for the right price. They’re going to want to factor in the amount of his salary that they already paid as a signing bonus when it comes to calculating compensation.
  12. Yep. Catching back shoulder passes is a great addition to a WR’s arsenal of ways to be successful, but it can’t be all a guy can do. I’m by no means closing the book on Coleman. It’s early and he’s young. He’s got plenty of time to develop and I’m glad the team is finding a way to get him involved. But posters pointing to a couple back shoulder catches as a real sign of his imminent success is just them grasping at straws.
  13. It’s not that I wouldn’t want him on the team, but I don’t think that he’s going to be worth what we’d have to give up for him. Some team in contention with an injury at wide receiver will pony up more than they otherwise should. if the injury bug hits our wide receiver room then that’s one thing, but as it stands I’m not interested in giving up substantial assets for a one-year rental of a declining player.
  14. He’s not eligible for an extension until after the league year ends. I’d certainly do it then. I haven’t looked at numbers but CB contracts took a downward turn last offseason due to more shell coverages being played. Teams don’t want to pay top of market for a man to man cover CB only to put him in zone the majority of the time. So I say pay the man his worth consistent with the zone CB market.
  15. Going into the next 3 games already 3-0 and clicking like the team is right now is very, very encouraging. I’d be psyched to come out of it 5-1, which certainly looks very achievable.
  16. Give it time. He’s basically still a rookie.
  17. Gonna have to check out Battlestar Galactic
  18. Maybe right at the trade deadline if a team with a good kicker is tanking. Still very unlikely unless the compensation is absurd. That is about the only chance at this. So, no, not happening.
  19. Awesome fine. Thank you for posting.
  20. A lot of praise and hype often follow once the talking heads find out who the #1 pick is going to be. There was far too much of that for Young. I’m sure some actually believed it, but there were some that didn’t buy into it. So it wasn’t a consensus. For the record I thought that taking any 5’10” QB anywhere close to #1 overall was stupid and that Stroud was the easy choice at 1. He had potential for greatness whereas Young’s ceiling was “serviceable starter”. I had a number of posts to that effect. The Brees comparisons were lazy and inaccurate. He’s the successful “short” QB that always seems to be the comparison for every short QB prospect. But Brees is 6’ 0-1/2”, not 5’10”. And he’s still a unicorn.
  21. As others have said, it was Tepper. The HC and GM wanted Stroud from the rumors I heard at the time. Tepper saddling them with his poor choice for a QB didn’t stop him from blaming and firing them for it.
  22. I don’t think they intentionally put him at risk back in ‘20. It’s too self-defeating to do that. I think it was error/incompetence. Same result tho. But this is another data point in teams paying second tier (or lesser) QBs market prices. It almost never works out for the team. It can get the GM and coaches an extension though.
  23. I would think that if Tua retires for health reasons he’d work with the Dolphins to spread the cap hits out and ease some of the considerable pain.
  24. All money already paid, but not yet accounted for must hit the cap. That’s the remaining signing bonus cap hit. Also all future guaranteed money must be paid and accounted for on the cap. IMO there would be no basis for the team to sue Tua for any of that if he retired due to legitimate injury. So who’s going to argue that it wouldn’t be legit?
