  1. At this point everyone should recognize that every season under McDermott is a lost season. If I’m being honest, after his massive choke in the 13 seconds debacle there was no real hope of better than what we’ve seen since then. The sooner we move on, the sooner we find a HC that can win it all. No guarantees we do, but there’s no chance if we don’t.
  2. McDermott sure put the Iggles kicker into position to be successful with that TO. Instead of having to rush on a sloppy field he got to take his time and set up. Ridiculous. My wife and even my 18 yo daughter recognized how dumb it was.
  3. Results: ATL - yes! CIN - no! CAR - no! TB - no! NYG - yes! JAX - yes! CLE - TBD but not looking good LAR - TBD, looks good early LVR - TBD, looks good early vs KC! BAL - TBD BUF - TBD
  4. I’m fairly certain that New Era doesn’t have one anymore. I was at a game this season in a suite. It was through my wife with a company in the IT world that is doing business with her. We seemed to be the token business related attendees to keep it an allowable expense. I was talking to the owner and he said he didn’t think they were going to have one in the new stadium as they expected the yearly fees to be in the $250k-$350k range. That’s just to have the rights to use the suite. Tickets and food are extra.
  5. I like that we get the Iggles with them coming off a short week after a big game against KC. And I really like getting KC coming off of our bye. If the Bills are going to get back in it, these are the statement games to make it happen.
  6. I’m not sure improved stats are the best indicator as I think that would mostly come from a better supporting cast, not improvement beyond the best we’ve seen from him. That said, he could become more consistent, especially when defenses test his patience. That’s his avenue for improvement IMO.
  7. Two back surgeries to deal with an impinged nerve. IMO he should take his cash for this year and work on getting his body right for next season.
  8. That’s a great question. I’ll have to look when I have time.
  9. The best fix would include simplifying the rules, not continually making them more complex. That would help, but there will always be borderline calls that will upset one fan base or the other.
  10. I understand all that. I thought it was telling when I heard the quotes for exactly those reasons. He basically said that he didn’t disagree with Canada’s calls and then made it very clear that they were Canada’s calls and Canada’s calls alone.
  11. Agreed. But McDermott seemed unnecessarily dickish to Warrow in his response. Judging by the responses here that seems to play well with many Bills fans too.
  12. The weird thing is Tomlin just defended the play calling on the final “drive” against the Browns where every play was a pass. He said that he had no problem with the play calls, but also made it clear that they were Canada’s by saying he did not intervene. I guess that was some BS and they were the final straw.
  13. I don’t see it going away nor do I think it should. It’s not a dangerous play relative to other football plays. Philly runs it with ease in part because they have an excellent OL and in part because their QB squats 600 pounds.
  14. I agree. While I can find fault with the Bills putting themselves into a position where they needed to make a move like signing Von Miller, I think it was the move they needed to make at the time. Taking the chance on him made sense considering where they were at the time.
  15. The real question is how far back Miller can get. My hope was that he would be back close to his former self just prior to the playoffs. I thought that was what was most important - and a reasonable time frame. But the longer this drags on, the more concerning the situation is. And I said “my hope” because at his age there is no guarantee that he makes it back close to his former self or that it happens this season.
  16. Smaller LBers are becoming the norm in the NFL. It is one reason that the run game is making a relative resurgence. I would argue that we are already seeing premiums on DTs that can keep those smaller LBs clean.
  17. Agreed. Every time someone complains about the Bills’ injuries I ask them if they’d rather be dealing with what the Browns, Jets, Bengals or Colts are. That’s 1/4 of the AFC without their starting QB.
  18. Lotta people here love the roller coaster and the wild ups and downs (even if they say they don't). I still don't like the position the Bills have put themselves in, but it was a very nice win. Even though it was over a team we should have beaten, it was a game that was never in question and we scored 30+ against a defense that has given us fits. Ultimately it is a good data point on a season where reasonable expectations were a deep playoff run and/or SB appearance/win.
  19. Agreed. Adams has a very manageable contract next year - $17.5M in new money - before it balloons with two high dollar, non-guaranteed years. That makes him the right move for the Jets if trade compensation is reasonable. Make that trade and pour whatever other resources they reasonably can into the OL. That will give them one “all in” year and would not hinder them long term.
  20. It’s “strike while the iron’s hot” as in a blacksmith working hot iron.
  21. 1. While I agree that the AFC is ripe for the taking this season, virtually every AFC team is saying either “This could be our year!” or “This could have been our year!” 2. I got blasted for saying that Allen hasn’t prepared in the offseasons since he got paid like he did prior. I do not believe that he is preparing like someone who is making $43M a year should be. 3. I always thought that McDermott and Beane were a package deal too, but now I think that there is a chance that Beane would survive a McD firing. 4. Douglas and Joseph will be adequate starters, but not Tre White or Daquon Jones. 5. Agree on Bernard. Dawkins is playing like his normal self. 6. I think the drama is due to the record and current state of the team. 7. A speedy, quality WR is needed. We could have a 50 page thread on the YAC issue.
  22. It would be nice to get back in it. It seems like this season every team is vulnerable. The SB could have one or two surprising teams in it.
  23. I’ll get excited when the Bills beat a bonafide SB contender in the playoffs. The Bills under McDermott are yet to do that - unless you count the PO win over the Ravens, but I think that’s a stretch. There are a lot of hurdles to get to that point this season so I’ll just take it one game at a time.
  24. Agreed. I’d add that his team seems to be losing focus - and by that I mean that we are seeing issues with the players losing focus. Too many dumb penalties and other mistakes that we would not have seen in years past. The wheels are coming off. When that starts to happen the natural tendency is to double down, exert more control, try harder and more forcefully manage the situation. The much more difficult, but correct path is to adopt new strategies yourself and/or delegate to those that can. The latter does not always work, but the former almost never does. I suspect McDermott promoted Joe Brady in hopes that he does a better job of executing the McDermott plan for the offense than Ken Dorsey did, not to bring in fresh ideas and change course (not that much can be done midseason anyway).
