  1. Huge to have gotten this done. Now for the details......
  2. Nice move. Whaley did this right. I'm liking the cap moves lately.
  3. This all presumes TT lights it up and shows himself to be a franchise QB, which is a huge presumption. But you're telling me that you'd blow off locking Him up if he shows himself to be a franchise QB because you think EJ might progress to an equivalent level? Honestly I do not care if Tyrod or EJ is the one to become a franchise QB, I just hope one of them does that. But whichever does deserves to be paid and I want the Bills to be the team that locks him up. The agenda crap is old. TT is the first up and I'm rooting for him.
  4. This. There is no other player - or even two players - worth losing a young, franchise QB for. If TT blows up, he's first priority.
  5. I think it was a tongue-in-cheek comment.
  6. I literally laughed out loud. Nicely done.
  7. Was also thinking along those lines.
  8. Eddie George's 40 time was 4.47. So, no, he was plenty fast. Yeah. It's one thing to say that Williams runs upright like George, but quite another to say that he runs like him in general. George had a rare combination of speed, power and elusiveness. Williams has a lot to prove before he deserves to be compared to George. Right now he looks like he could be a capable back in the NFL. George was an exceptional back.
  9. I wasn't saying that there isn't a difference there, just that everything's not completely peachy physically with McCoy. He's no more likely to start the season than Kiko, probably less. Oh, and while we're talking differences, there's a huge discrepancy in pay too. McCoy missing time is a lot more costly in that respect. Chipper does seem to be driving that bus off of a cliff.
  10. Yeah, this does suck for the Saints. Not only will they lose a quality player in Byrd, but it is another nut shot to their cap situation (which was already dismal). Nice move by Whaley to let this guy walk.
  11. $100.75M/6 years/$48M
  12. Lame. It is, however, funny to me that people are ripping on Kiko about his knee even though he is expected to play in the 4th preseason game, but are geeked about Shady even though he might miss the opener with his injury. SMH
  13. The cost difference would be well in excess of the $1.35M you stated because there would have to be another player on the roster in 2016 to take Cassel's spot as backup QB. That player would be paid backup QB money, which is not insubstantial - likely an additional $3M-$5M. Or a draft pick would have to be used, which is also a cost.
  14. Was not a fan of the Darby pick, but I wouldn't expect much from a second round CB until his second year. Sure, it'd be nice to see him look like he had a clue but let's put away the pitchforks for a bit.
  15. Nice of his old teammates to send him congrats and well wishes. It's a good sign that they thought well enough of him to do so. Taylor has some huge leaps to make in the coming weeks and months. Preseason to regular season, early regular season to the grind of midseason, to the intensity of a late season playoff push and finally to the pressure of playoffs. It'll be fun to watch him grow (I hope) and while it is a lot to ask of him, it could be a magical run if the Bills have caught lightning in a bottle with him.
  16. Yes he made the HC interview circuit a couple of times. Not sure if teams thoughts were that he just wasn't ready yet or that he wasn't HC material. If he has success here you have to think that teams talk to him again.
  17. Age, money, injuries and career almost over. Too bad.
  18. A sad day. Fred deserved to be on a winner. Hopefully he still gets that chance somewhere.
  19. You can never tell if any team (or unit) is going to be great from preseason games. But sometimes you can see that they're going to be really bad.
  20. Yup. Indy has a poor defense which is going to be a problem for them. They are a good matchup for the Bills.
  21. Getting anything at all for Cassel is just wishful thinking. Nobody would want him on his current deal. Trading a WR that's going to get caught up in a numbers game here for an OL in a similar situation elsewhere has merit. The problem is that there are a lot more WRs with potential on bubbles around the league than there are offensive linemen in that situation. Doesn't hurt to try and find such a trade though.
  22. I disagree. McCown is a terrible comparison as he's looked a lot better* than Cassel this preseason and is going to start for a team. If Cassel is going to sit 3rd string and mentor he is in a very different situation. A pay cut to hold a clipboard might be very preferable to a roster cut for him - especially if the reworked deal includes escalators based on playing time. * Okay, "a lot better" is an overstatement. McCown has shown the ability to throw deep while Cassel has only dink-and-dunked. Keeping defenses honest with the threat of vertical passing is necessary for success in the NFL today.
  23. Nope. This is the QB position we're talking about. If either TT or EJ has any chance to be a quality QB - and I think they do have some chance - then you don't throw that away for a mid round pick. F that. Ride this out.
