WR trade candidates, who do you want?
BarleyNY replied to Einstein's Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think that this will be the FO’s tack. They’re going to see how competitive this team is before spending draft capital and money/cap space on this season. If it looks like a vet WR or DE can meaningfully improve the team for the playoffs, then they’ll try to make a move near the deadline. -
We could certainly use that. There are some decent CBs still available, but I don’t see the Bills spending much so one would have to come cheap. Even with us getting some cap space I don’t think they’re going to spend much.

FWIW I heard a rumor that the Browns will be traveling to Wembly Stadium to play the Jags on 10/20. So that would be one London game down.

Not sure if I can find it at this point. Initial googling is coming up empty. If I find it I’ll drop it in here.

I see a difference between fielding a player at outside CB3 who has talent as well as significant flaws versus players who would be lucky to be on most NFL rosters. That’s how I see it. I think we agree that the Bills should have done more to bring in CB help, but until they do Elam is our best option at outside CB3

I have wondered about teams using drones and AI. Rumors about Jim Harbaugh’s recent cheating at Michigan included AI use. The speed at which AI works enabled them to (allegedly) make significant halftime adjustments. It’s not a stretch to think NFL teams are doing the same. Coincidentally, he has a very successful brother coaching the Ravens and I seem to remember an issue with a drone during one of their playoff games. Honestly, if teams are not already optimizing play calls and game plans through AI, then they’re probably behind the curve. Adding real time filming (drone or otherwise) is obviously against the rules, but I don’t see where AI use is. And I don’t know how teams could be caught even if it was.

2024 Buffalo Bills Roster - All 91 Spots filled
BarleyNY replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah. It’s odd because even if a team isn’t using its fourth QB much they have him there in case someone needs time off. Dead arm, injury, fatigue, whatever. Training camps aren’t as intense as they used to be, but stuff still happens. -

That’s odd. I believe you and it certainly explains why we don’t have a fourth QB. It’s just unusual for an NFL team at this time of year. -
In this league and during such a long season CB corps always seem to have injuries. The first outside CB off our bench will almost certainly see meaningful time on the field. Speaking of meaningful playing time, how would Burks get on the field for any?

No. He does not count on the roster. -

3 QBs? It seems like we could use another camp arm. -
In a vacuum, I’d be okay with it. But not with the numbers we have at WR (especially slot WR) and outside CB. Without Elam we are one injury away from Ja’Marcus Ingram or Kyron Brown starting. I’m not an Elam fan, but I’ll take him over the likes of either of them.

I think some teams play the game that way, but it hurts them in the long run. Agents aren't stupid. If you were an agent, how would you handle a team that benches players to keep them from achieving bonuses?

What's on your Mt. Rushmore of Arcade Games?
BarleyNY replied to BillsPride12's topic in Off the Wall
High Speed pinball was literally the first thing that came to my mind. The second was a game called Space Fury. loved Golden Axe -
Totally understand that. Steaks cooked sous vide and then seared on a charcoal grill is my preferred method. It really is worth it for the flavor and aroma. Highly recommend. You can do some amazing things blending smoking and sous vide too (sometimes called sous vide Q).

Tell you brother to put some pictures in the gallery on his website. It is odd that the article’s writer chose to include pictures of the outsides of the restaurants rather than of the pizzas. I wanted to see Craft’s so I went to their site, but there are no pictures there either. Or at least none accessible by my iOS phone. Seems like a pretty big oversight.

- Misuse of then/than. “Then” is sequential. I’m going to go to the store, then home. “Than” is comparative. I’d rather go to Wegman’s than Top’s. - WNY mispronunciation of words like elementary by pronouncing them with an emphasized -TARY instead of emphasizing “MEN” and ending with “tree”. My daughter picked up this habit and wife and I wince every time we hear her do it. - Misuse of “ironic” in place of “coincidental”. Ironic means “opposite of what was expected” not “happenstance”.

After having your first sous vide steak you will never want one done any other way. I’ve been doing it that way for 12+ years now. It might take a time or two to dial each cut/grade in to your exact liking, but the results are well worth it. And for what steak costs the investment of a precision cooker so the job is always done right is relatively minor. Plus it’s so good for so much more. https://www.seriouseats.com/food-lab-complete-guide-to-sous-vide-steak

Top 5 QB and Top 5 WR salary cannot coexist on a SB team
BarleyNY replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Don’t get caught up in the current cap numbers. Look at cash payouts for an accurate picture. The Eagles are one of the most aggressive teams with respect to managing the cap so their cash payouts are high compared to cap hits due to contract structuring. For example, Hurts is getting $40M in cash this season, but his cap number is only $13.6M. Brown is $21M cash vs $11.9M cap and Smith is $21.4M cash vs $8.1M cap. Tre had $82.4M in cash for those players versus $33.6M in 2024 cap charges. Cash payouts to those three players equate to 32.3% of this year’s cap number. The Eagles are just being very aggressive in kicking the cap hits down the road. That helps them outspend teams unable or unwilling to do that too. -
Top 5 QB and Top 5 WR salary cannot coexist on a SB team

I get what you’re saying. It’s just wrong. Teams that are willing to spend absolutely can afford to pay a top QB and a top WR. The Eagles are paying a QB and TWO WRs top money. -
Athletic article - comments from NFL people on AFC draft classes
BarleyNY replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
That’s changed over the last couple seasons as teams have been working to get more stout against the run. The spending on IOL and RBs shows that many teams are still committed to improving their run game however. As a counter I expect teams to run more MOFC coverages that are better against the run. That means more cover 1 and 3 on early downs rather than 2 and 4. I’m also interested in seeing how teams that go more man heavy do. -
Top 5 QB and Top 5 WR salary cannot coexist on a SB team
BarleyNY replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Why the steadfast assertion that a team can’t spend on a top QB (I see you’ve moved that up to top 3) and a top WR? Teams obviously can do that and be successful, especially if they are willing to aggressively spend like the Eagles are. Those aren’t the only two high dollar premium positions in the NFL. In addition to the ability and willingness to spend cash, the key is drafting well. If a team can do that, then they can stay on top. -

Job one for most fans is justifying whatever their team did as the best possible action. The stark contrast between what was done and what those fans previously wanted done notwithstanding.
