  1. The Bills did well to manufacture sacks with their scheme last season. Props to McDermott for that. But to beat the best teams with the best quarterbacks a team needs to be able to get pressure with their front four. The Bills will need to add at least one quality pass rushing DE to do that.
  2. Agreed. GR does it well, but it’s a far more replaceable skill set than a DE who can get to the QB quickly. His skill set is also a lot less expensive. Just like with Edmunds my worry with GR is that the Bills will overpay to keep him. Beane did the right thing with Edmunds and I expect him to do the right thing with GR.
  3. My first thought at seeing GR at $20M AAV was NFW! But markets are moving so I checked to see what his MV was on OTC and Spotrac. The latter doesn’t have one but OTC puts his MV for last season at $10.1M (regular) and $10.8M (injury adjusted). That tells me that something in the neighborhood of a 5 year, $62.5M deal would be about right. That’s $12.5M AAV. I’d be happy with that. There are a lot of very high and some very low opinions of GR. Both are well of the mark IMO. He’s a solid/good DE, but he’s limited to a complimentary role. That type of production has value, but that kind of player is replaceable. Anything close to $20M AAV would be malfeasance IMO. OTOH if he’s not re-signed/extended then we have a hole to fill - and probably a solid comp pick in our future since some team will overpay him. That last point may be what causes the Bills to move on from him. If he plays out his deal w/o and extension, then leaving via FA is his big payday. Beane would do well to let that happen - or try to extend him in the next few months if he wants to retain him. GR and his agent are probably not that interested in an extension though as they know which path is likely to get him much more money.
  4. They look like an USFL throwback uniform.
  5. A franchise tagged player will get paid for the whole season if they sign their contract just prior to the first regular season game. It is between one and three days prior, but I don’t remember exactly which. If they sign it part way through the season, then they just get paid for the portion of games remaining. They have to do it with at least 6 games remaining in the season or they don’t get credit for the season and the contract tolls.
  6. Not lack of evidence. Loophole in MN law. It stated that a person could not be charged with rape or sexual assault if the victim was “willingly intoxicated” at the time of the incident. Law was changed two years later, in 2021.
  7. That’s as illogical an argument as I could imagine. Just because something hasn’t been done before certainly doesn’t mean it can’t be. We see firsts all the time. Hell, our elite franchise QB is a unicorn. No QB drafted anywhere close to top 10 ever made the leap he has. Also I don’t see a lot of details here. WRs and QBs who’ve both gotten paid large for their times and the salary cap’s at the time have won it all. But apparently that was too long ago to count. So since when? And while you are at it, how much is too much to pay those positions? I think this whole illogical rationale is based on two things: 1) The Chiefs have dominated the SB wins without paying a WR so people want the Bills to copy that. But the Chiefs are a cheap organization. They have had to be frugal compared to some other teams. That they could do so well with that disadvantage makes what they’ve done even more impressive. It’s worth pointing out that even though they won the Super Bowl last year with a wide receiving corps that was below par they went ahead and revamped it for this year. 2) The Bills traded away Diggs and have built their WR corps that way this season. I didn’t see anybody posting about this while we had Diggs on the team and were paying him. It’s reactionary and it’ll evaporate if the Bills pay a WR next offseason.
  8. Thank you and no worries. And apologies to @Putin for singling him out in this thread. My frustration was more toward seeing that same thing posted over and over on this board.
  9. Then I recommended just calling out those people specifically because making sweeping, general statements like that does not come off well.
  10. But it’s not true. It’s just you and some others deciding that people that don’t agree with you are bad people simple because they don’t agree with you. The alternative would be to believe that they’re (by and large) reasonable people who see things differently. Or even simply that they’re decent people who are wrong about something. Reflexively assuming someone has bad character simply because they disagree with you says a lot more about you than it does about them.
  11. Such a petty and small minded sentiment I see posted here so often. It’s sad.
  12. Teams with elite players are smart to get deals done early. The Eagles do this consistently. Everyone complains about it when it happens, but after the rest of the contracts get done they’re already 5 or 6 spots down the list. As for the sustainability of paying a QB and WR top dollar, the Eagles show that it can be done as they have two WRs and a QB all paid ear top of market. I do expect that they drop to one WR soon though. The catch is that it is only possible with an owner willing to spend and quality FO. That allows the team to structure deals aggressively and outspend most other teams. The “nobody has done it yet” argument is weak. You mean recently because historically teams have done it. The numbers just weren’t as big as they are today. Also the Eagles were one bad call away from being in position to do it. If you want another example, look at the Browns. They’re paying Watson large and have not gotten much in return. Yet they made the playoffs fielding QBs that were nobodies and a washed up QB off the street. Why? Same as the Eagles. They’re spending and finding quality players. Their roster is outstanding top to bottom - with the possible exception of their QB.
  13. Same thought. Mahomes 1 - check. Allen -2 cool, happy with the respect! Burrow - 3 sure, if healthy. Stroud - 4 sure looked it in his one season so maybe a bit early, but okay. Caleb Williams - 5 Monther ****er, this guy’s an idiot!
  14. Gabe Davis - was great for a backup, but not so great as a starter (overall).
  15. If his one arm power rush is not his most commonly used technique, it’s gotta be close. Watch the video. Educate yourself. Also I said he could win with power, not that he was strictly a power rusher. Don’t put words in my mouth.
  16. Sure. Everyone has their thing - or things. TT is certainly welcome to indulge his. I just can’t imagine how far down the list sneaker shopping is for me though. I went shopping with the wife and our daughter two nights ago. I got a pair of jeans and a hat and I’m burned out on clothes shopping for the next month.
  17. lol. that couldn’t be further from the truth. Miller’s one arm power technique is also a signature move of his. Without it he would not be able to use his ghost move effectively. Here is some further explanation:
  18. Von Miller was a freak. He could win with speed, power, technique (i.e. ghost move) and even bend. I hope he has recovered well and has something left in the tank, but three of those are likely impacted by this injury and his age. I don’t know of a single instance of an athlete in a similar situation making a quality comeback. Again, he’s a freak. So if I had to put money on someone doing so, it’d be him. And if he does come back to anything close to his old form, let’s not undersell that. It would be a very difficult and unique accomplishment by him.
  19. Honest question: Is there a reason you think that or is it just hoping for the best?
  20. It was this statement of yours that I was responding to: ”It's still there physically, just mentally it's holding him back.” I doubt that it’s there physically anymore.
  21. Seems like big, physical WRs may have real value on KOs now. I can see Shorter making the team as WR7 for that.
  22. It is legit exhausting to me just thinking about filling those closets with shoes.
  23. He’s 35. Rounding back into his old form after that injury would be beating some incredible odds.
