I'd put him 20-something, which is where you have him. He's serviceable with no real upside and he's in real trouble behind that OL this year. He's the best they're going to do for 2016 though.

I can see what you're trying to do, but I don't think that contract or structure would work for Taylor's camp. I'd be great for the Bills though. It is essentially a 1 year deal plus a two year deal option plus another one year team option. Taylor would get an extra $9M this season, but lose his ability to get a huge deal next offseason. The Bills would be paying that extra $9M to have an option for two more years at $18M & $20M and then another season at $22M. That's a pretty good deal for the Bills, but even if the $12M in 2016 was guaranteed then that's still less than 1/3 of what Osweiler got in initial guarantees. My example might need some numbers tweaked, but it also allows for the tag to be available for Gilmore next season and Watkins the following season. It also keeps Taylor here for two seasons. I like that much more than having just 2016 to evaluate him before deciding how big of a deal to offer him.

Good? No, no he's not particularly good. Bad? No, not really bad. Middling? Yes. Is he the best option at QB the Jest presently have or have had in a long time? Yes, and it's really not even close. Is he the guy they should want going forward after this season? No, they should be looking for a better QB.

It would make sense to see negotiations reach a conclusion for Gilmore and Taylor at about the same time. Both agents know that they have more leverage while both players are unsigned. If the Bills were willing to pay a bit more to get one under contract so they'd have the option to tag the other, I'm sure a deal would get done. It's probably a good sign for Whaley and the Bills that it's going down the way it is. I do always wonder about smoke in these cases. It'd be smart to float a lot of this stuff out there whether or not it was true.

2006 definitely had some players in it: Mario, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, AJ Hawk, Vernon Davis, Jay Cutler, Haloti Ngata, Antonio Cromartie, Manny Lawson, Johnathan Joseph, Santonio Holmes, DeAngelo Williams and Nick Mangold all went in just the first round. There were other decent players, too.

Agreed. And the return he gave on his draft pick only matters to the team that took him, not us. I expect he got a deal similar to the 1 year, $2.4M contract SF signed him to last season (maybe less). A RB like him is needed, especially with Karlos' 4 game suspension looming. It makes sense and looks to be a good signing.

Nope. 3 straight 1k seasons is certainly noteworthy, but he was only here 5 seasons total. A longer career here putting up those kinds of numbers would've probably done it though.

Unrealistic positions aren't equal to realistic ones. Sorry to break that to you. People have a right to their opinions, but an opinion that can be backed up with unbiased facts, analysis and logic is worthy of a lot more respect than one that can't. Watching some Pollyanna cherry picks facts to create some pretend scenario to make themselves feel good is like nails on a chalkboard to me. It's like we're in preschool. If we all wish real hard, then all of our dreams will come true! Sorry, I just can't do that. So, yeah, some opinions are better than others. Realists aren't necessarily negative, they are actually very positive when situations warrant it. That's how you can tell the difference between a realist and someone who's just negative (or a Pollyanna and realist). Facts and logical arguments often change the opinions of realists. Negative people and Pollyannas tend to be pretty impervious to facts and logic though.

I love how Pollyannas ignore reality. Conversations usually go like this: Realist: I see a problem here. Pollyanna: You're so negative! Everything's great! R: Not everything. Just look at the problem. It's pretty big. P: You just want to see failure so you can say you were right! R: No, I'd rather be wrong, but the facts say this is a problem. P: You're so negative! Yeah, he's been professional and I've given him props for it. He deserves it.

I don't see myself as negative so much as realistic. I'd feel stupid if I didn't think logically about things. I just don't see the point in thinking everything is rainbows and unicorns. The funniest thing about being called negative is that I've actually had higher expectations of the Bills than what they've achieved. I had them at 10-6 and making the 6th playoff spot last season. They finished 8-8. Thinking back on it I was a little Pollyanna-ish. But I do think your comment was funny. I usually haven't been very enthusiastic, but that is because I haven't seen much reason for enthusiasm. That will change if/when I see reason for it.
