  1. Yeah, we all know that. It's part of playing under the franchise tag. It's only one season. But the player's current team can sign the player to a long term deal or tag him again in the offseason.
  2. Yeah, some have trouble with views that aren't all black or white. I was happy with the W, but I wasn't pleased with the play of the team in general. Coming off a bye and playing a team coming off a Monday night game should have given us a big advantage. Then the Bengals losing AJ Green at the very beginning of the game should have buried them, but our play, mistakes and penalties kept the game in question until the end. Injuries and lack of depth at WR and S are huge issues for the Bills and they were on display yesterday.
  3. Almost certainly. He's currently playing under the franchise tag and Washington has the option - and cap space - to tag him again if they can't get a long term deal done before next season. Doesn't look like he will hit the market.
  4. Yeah, Dallas has the best record in the NFL in case you missed that.
  5. Tough to think Woods is here next season. He will probably have more value to other teams with offenses that fit his skill set better than the Bills' scheme. Plus the Bills will have less to spend than many other teams and more important holes to fill with what they do have.
  6. http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article114718228.html Was curious and eventually found the above info. The NFL "cross flexes" some games between affiliates to help the networks show better double headers. Looks like you got boned so CBS could show Philly-Seattle to most of the country. Here's the coverage map: http://506sports.com/nfl.php?yr=2016&wk=11
  7. I double Green with a rotation of CBs - but mostly with my most physical one (White?) - as wells as a safety over the top. The real problem with this is the void at safety. There's not really one that I trust to cover and tackle him.
  8. You are wise and erudite.
  9. This is totally indefensible. I'm not sure if this is on Overdorf, Whaley or ownership, but if it is not ownership then a head should roll.
  10. I questioned the guarantees of the contract at the time. If you compare the size of his deal and level of his guarantees to the other top DTs, it was way out of line. I understand this is Buffalo and it is the Bills so you probably have to pay some sort of premium, but the guarantees given Dareus were ridiculous. And I said so at the time.
  11. Maybe it might motivate Dareus. Can't really hurt at this point. He can't be cut or traded after this season, but those options start to get way more manageable after 2017. Best to put in his mind that he might not see as much of that huge contract as he'd like if he doesn't shape up.
  12. My wife's traditional Julia Childs turkey vs. my dry rubbed, apple and cherry wood smoked turkey. Always an epic showdown. Also we will watch whatever football games are on.
  13. 6'4", 230 lb dual threat QB with a huge arm. That's what people see. He is young and hasn't put it together yet. Still staring down receivers and needs to develop touch. There is a lot to love about the kid, but he is certainly a high risk/high reward prospect because there's no guarantee he will ever put it together.
  14. You can get a quality player throughout the first round. There are 3 or 4 prospects in this draft in the elite category: Allen, Garrett, Peppers and probably Fournette. If you're not picking top 4, then you aren't getting that level of prospect. A team can still get a blue chip player (or one who is close) throughout much of the first round though.
  15. Yup. There is growth to watch for. And just enjoying a football game. I thought the Rex hire was a good one when it happened. His inflexibility in his scheme and insistence on leaving his CBs on islands has soured me on him. I just don't think he can be successful with it in today's NFL. Even so, he proved my initial impression wrong so maybe he will prove my current one wrong too. It certainly could happen. If I see growth with Taylor and the defense and they finish 9-7, then the games will have been worth watching and I'll have real hope for next season under Rex.
  16. Probably because they want the LS to complete his snapping motion before standing up. If he gets up too early, it'll be a bad snap. If the defender times it well there's not really much you can do except try to make sure the guard next to the LS gets a piece of the jumper.
  17. Sorry to hear that. You can never know what was really up reasons-wise. Even if you get a reason, no guarantee it's the real one. Sorry, man, that really sucks. Keep your head up and give it another go. You know what they say: Relationships never work, until one does.
  18. Maybe I should give Horton more credit and wait and see what he does with more talent next year or even in 2018, but that defense is even worse than its personnel this season. And that's saying something because the personnel is bad. I hate seeing anyone use the Browns as any kind of measuring stick for the Bills or any other team. If that's what you have to resort to saying, then things must be pretty bad where you are,
  19. Many (most?) women have this philosophy when it comes to men and sex: - If the guy has no potential for being boyfriend/husband, then a one night stand or very short term, superficial, sex-filled relationship is on the table if he is good enough looking. - If the guy has long term potential, then they often make us wait. That way they can more accurately gauge our suitability as husband material while not coming off as generally slutty (which is a big turn off to most guys looking for a wife). It's a proven fact that typically people will more highly value something that they have to work or pay highly for versus something that is attained easily or cheap, so there's solid psychological reasoning there.
  20. Binge watched the last 4 episodes of Stranger Things with my wife and daughter on Friday night. (My son is on a scout trip.) Hit the 1st half of UB game with a buddy and our daughters, then some assorted college FB viewing until halftime of the 3:30 OSU game. Then we were off to dinner at a friend's house. Today I will be having friends over for beer, food and Rams-Jets and Cowboys-Steelers. You weren't kidding about the UB game. I really wonder how they could draw if they poured a bunch of money into that program and did well for a sustained time. Need some big, dedicated donors for that though.
  21. Horton isn't a very good DC and that's shown in the Browns defense this season. They are talent deficient to be sure, but there also has been far too many fundamental mistakes by that defense. And they aren't improving in that regard. I was surprised by his hire, but maybe no one else would take the job.
  22. Prescription opioids given to athletes for pain are far, far, far worse than marijuana due to their highly addictive nature. Let them have their pot for pain relief or recreation. But the league will want something for eliminating testing. Hopefully it'll be increased testing for PEDs instead of financial concessions.
  23. Yeah, that is what I was saying about the Browns. Hokie had the Bills losing to the Browns. I think the Bills could definitely take the Raiders or Steelers. The Raiders have an offense that is blooming and a defense that is finally finding itself after struggling most of the season. The Bills could win a close one there. It's not out of the question. Pittsburgh is struggling with an injured Rapistberger and a poor secondary. The Bills could win that one too. The odds are in favor of a split, but the Bills could win or lose both. I was just going with the most likely scenario - a split.
