John Madden Is Not a Fan of TNF
BarleyNY replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think they want to do that to high school football. HS, college and the NFL try to keep peace by keeping to their own time frames and they each make the process of players moving up through the ranks smooth. I'm with Madden on TNF. The NFL is oversaturating the public with its product and its showing in ratings. They pushed it to make more money and its biting them. There found their limit. -
The game we should win that we lose!
BarleyNY replied to BILLS55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rex would have to lose the locker room. Once the majority of important players turn on a coach and that coach can't be effective, it's over. Rex and his crew would have to do a very poor job the rest of the way out and the team would have lose out (or come close to that) to lose the locker room. So it's possible, but highly unlikely. We are probably saddled with him for another year beyond this one. Just being realistic. -
Hope Whaley is scouting this kid
BarleyNY replied to Bubba Gump's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, if Whaley is personally scouting a high school junior then he needs to be sent packing today. I'm betting Whaley is going to let this kid's career move along a bit before spending any time on him. That'd be the rational thing to do. -

No way. I honestly don't think it'll happen, but even a loss to the Browns wouldn't end Rex or Whaley. 8-8 or thereabouts in the second year of Rex's regime doesn't get him sent packing. Also I firmly believe that Whaley stays or goes with Rex. Pegs synchronized their contracts to this end. -
Hammer - did you know that this is near you?

Reference to Camp Crystal Lake from Friday the 13th. Sigh. No one gets me. -

BarleyNY replied to BuffaloBud's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah. Also of note: The lake where all of those teenagers disappeared is just a few hundred yards South of there and the Indian burial ground is directly under the playing field. -
Yeah. I was expecting something at least a little funny. That was just moronic.

Ugh - Playoff Projection not too rosy - even with 10 wins

Get Kirk Cousins in the offseason.
BarleyNY replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, we all know that. It's part of playing under the franchise tag. It's only one season. But the player's current team can sign the player to a long term deal or tag him again in the offseason. -
Bills haven't beat a winning team
BarleyNY replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, some have trouble with views that aren't all black or white. I was happy with the W, but I wasn't pleased with the play of the team in general. Coming off a bye and playing a team coming off a Monday night game should have given us a big advantage. Then the Bengals losing AJ Green at the very beginning of the game should have buried them, but our play, mistakes and penalties kept the game in question until the end. Injuries and lack of depth at WR and S are huge issues for the Bills and they were on display yesterday. -

BarleyNY replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Almost certainly. He's currently playing under the franchise tag and Washington has the option - and cap space - to tag him again if they can't get a long term deal done before next season. Doesn't look like he will hit the market. -

Bills bengals on Syracuse or Cortland TV? Why on Fox?
BarleyNY replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, Dallas has the best record in the NFL in case you missed that. -
Robert Woods updated market value per Spotrac
BarleyNY replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tough to think Woods is here next season. He will probably have more value to other teams with offenses that fit his skill set better than the Bills' scheme. Plus the Bills will have less to spend than many other teams and more important holes to fill with what they do have. -

http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article114718228.html Was curious and eventually found the above info. The NFL "cross flexes" some games between affiliates to help the networks show better double headers. Looks like you got boned so CBS could show Philly-Seattle to most of the country. Here's the coverage map: http://506sports.com/nfl.php?yr=2016&wk=11 -
Should Rex play Gilmore on Green?
BarleyNY replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I double Green with a rotation of CBs - but mostly with my most physical one (White?) - as wells as a safety over the top. The real problem with this is the void at safety. There's not really one that I trust to cover and tackle him. -
You are wise and erudite.

Rumor: Some in Bills org want to move on from Dareus
BarleyNY replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is totally indefensible. I'm not sure if this is on Overdorf, Whaley or ownership, but if it is not ownership then a head should roll. -
Rumor: Some in Bills org want to move on from Dareus
BarleyNY replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I questioned the guarantees of the contract at the time. If you compare the size of his deal and level of his guarantees to the other top DTs, it was way out of line. I understand this is Buffalo and it is the Bills so you probably have to pay some sort of premium, but the guarantees given Dareus were ridiculous. And I said so at the time. -

BarleyNY replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe it might motivate Dareus. Can't really hurt at this point. He can't be cut or traded after this season, but those options start to get way more manageable after 2017. Best to put in his mind that he might not see as much of that huge contract as he'd like if he doesn't shape up. -
My wife's traditional Julia Childs turkey vs. my dry rubbed, apple and cherry wood smoked turkey. Always an epic showdown. Also we will watch whatever football games are on.

Tension mounts as more change feared in Cleveland
BarleyNY replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
6'4", 230 lb dual threat QB with a huge arm. That's what people see. He is young and hasn't put it together yet. Still staring down receivers and needs to develop touch. There is a lot to love about the kid, but he is certainly a high risk/high reward prospect because there's no guarantee he will ever put it together. -
Bills pretty much toast after Broncos and Chiefs wins...
BarleyNY replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can get a quality player throughout the first round. There are 3 or 4 prospects in this draft in the elite category: Allen, Garrett, Peppers and probably Fournette. If you're not picking top 4, then you aren't getting that level of prospect. A team can still get a blue chip player (or one who is close) throughout much of the first round though. -

Yup. There is growth to watch for. And just enjoying a football game. I thought the Rex hire was a good one when it happened. His inflexibility in his scheme and insistence on leaving his CBs on islands has soured me on him. I just don't think he can be successful with it in today's NFL. Even so, he proved my initial impression wrong so maybe he will prove my current one wrong too. It certainly could happen. If I see growth with Taylor and the defense and they finish 9-7, then the games will have been worth watching and I'll have real hope for next season under Rex.
