Tyrod made the right read, can you?
BarleyNY replied to Cover 1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I did exactly the same thing. -
It's entirely possible that the Bills WR corps will include at least one player cut from another team. I'm not making any judgements until I see some preseason games - or at least TC action.

Introducing your Stanley Cup champions....
BarleyNY replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good to know that refunds can be had from aliexpress companies. My son really wanted the Bills Stanley Cup flag for his room. He's at camp so I'll wait and see what he says when he gets home. Might be hitting you up for one soon. -
True. But give your coworkers the benefit of doubt here as any conversation about these events could get very work-inappropriate very quickly. So much senseless violence and killing. Everywhere.

NFL.com Training Camp Preview: Rex pushing Bills
BarleyNY replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yup. The offseason news is almost always fluff, injury or off the field problems. Once in a blue moon you can come across a good, unbiased article with analysis of players or scheme - if you're lucky. -
The Ultimate Classic Buffalo Must-Eat Food Guide

Great idea. Thanks for all of the good work, Rubes! -
Bingo. The Bills aren't exactly in a "choosers" position where WRs are concerned. If a better option comes available before week one concludes, then so much the better. If not, then we might be happy to have an Andre Johnson on his last legs.

Report: Tunsil's ankle could be worse than Jack's knee
BarleyNY replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, it's probably just an introduction to the NFL at LG for Tunsil. I've seen it before when an existing LT is on his way out. Tunsil should be at LT by no later than next season. Branden Albert is the current LT in Miami. He's an excellent OT, but he's injured a lot. Tunsil will slide to LT if he gets hurt again this season. So unless Tunsil totally busts or gets into off the field trouble expect Albert to be on the trading block next offseason. Please do that immediately. -
https://www.brewersassociation.org/statistics/number-of-breweries/ The number of breweries in the US is just surpassing what it was 140 years ago. There were no macrobreweries then, but there was a lot less people too - and even fewer states. Beer is going regional/local and i expect the number of viable breweries to keep increasing for some time to come. It'll be interesting to see what becomes of the big breweries. There has already been some consolidation among them and, while I don't see them all going away, I do see their market share continuing to decline and further consolidation among them.

How Brady is beating defenses before ball is even snapped
BarleyNY replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember hearing a story after Hoyer had moved on from the Pats. Apparently he got his helmet mixed up with Brady's and was very surprised when the radio link to the coaches remained connected throughout the play instead of shutting off prior to the snap. Coaches telling him what presnap adjustments to make and where to go with the ball probably helps a lot. I know it's just a rumor, but Belichick and Brady have long lost the benefit of doubt AFAIC. -
Topic of the day 7/3: Small markets and NFL economics
BarleyNY replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It'd be nice if the teams and players had to fully fund their own stadiums, but they know they don't have to. The NFL let everyone know the consequences when they let the Browns move. Now Oakland is about to lose the Raiders a second time. If it can happen to those teams, it can happen anywhere. The jump in public assistance for stadiums in the wake of the Browns move was substantial and led us to where we are today. If you want an NFL team in your city, it's going to cost you. It's just the way it is. People in Buffalo need to face reality on the subject. -
Topic of the day 7/3: Small markets and NFL economics
BarleyNY replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is totally incorrect. The owners do have limits on salaries in the form of a hard salary cap, which they negotiated a great deal on in the last CBA. That cap is based on a percentage of revenues. If that percentage was lower then the owners would simply take more profit home. They'd still be after every dollar they could get from the public. That wouldn't change one bit. -

It is irritating. Just some rich guys looking to get richer. The Bills look very safe for the foreseeable future with Pegula owning them. Some other teams less so. I'm looking at you, Jaguars. How are you guys enjoying those London trips? Do you know they pronounce the name "Jag-U-ars" there? -
How the Ravens went from SB winner to afterthought
BarleyNY replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Suggs was a hell of a player, but he'll be 34 in October and he's coming off an achilles tear. His initial burst really has been a huge part of why his pass rushing has been so great over his career, but I'm not sure if it will ever be what it was or that we will see him return to form. Honestly, I doubt that he will. Not that he won't be productive for a little while longer. He should be. He just won't be the special player he used to be. -

I have to think that this is Jerruh and Kraft's way of signaling that they'd like to see migration from smaller markets to larger ones. The smaller markets today are clearly viable, but they aren't as profitable to the league as larger, untapped ones like Mexico City, London, etc. They can't come out and just stay that they want to see teams bail on their current cities though. So they're laying the foundation for moving some teams by saying they aren't viable. -

True. How important the team is to the area and how well that area supports the team is incredibly important as well. That, of course, boils down to ticket sales, luxury box sales and financial assistance towards stadiums. -

Can't remember if this was mentioned or not, but if visitors are up anywhere near Lockport then Lake Effect Ice Cream is a must. It is my favorite ice cream parlor anywhere in the country. -
Goodwin fails to make Olypmic team
BarleyNY replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dunno, man. There's a lot of fast guys who can't play football out there. If Goodwin gets chopped at final cutdowns he may not get another chance with another team. Roster spots are precious then. -
How much do YOU love the Bills?
BarleyNY replied to Seasons1992's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That OJ tat is of his mug shot. WTF would possess a person to get that? -
Boyd is the only player I really watched play in college. The ability to catch his scattershot throws at Clemson really spoke well of Watkins. In college a QB can get away with poor accuracy if he's in the right system and has the right talent around him, but that doesn't fly in the NFL. His outside chance in the NFL was to be able to fix his mechanics and dial in his accuracy. That's a tough thing to do and it's rare to see happen so it's no surprise that Boyd couldn't get there. I'd like to see the Bills move on from EJ, but they need someone competent to take his place. Boyd isn't that guy. He's not even worthy of a roster spot.

How the Ravens went from SB winner to afterthought
BarleyNY replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't mind getting "caught" like that. Flacco bet on himself, carried the Ravens through the playoffs to a championship and got paid large for it. He hasn't been worthy of the contract since, but I'd gladly be in that spot. This season if Tyrod wants to go on a tear, win a championship, get an Andrew Luck deal and then revert to mediocrity, he can be my guest. They have had cap issues due to money tied up in underperforming and/or aging players. That is compounded by some poor/unlucky drafting. Ozzie has generally taken risks in the draft. In the years leading up to the Super Bowls he hit a lot of home runs when he was swinging for the fences, but now he's striking out a lot. It is telling to see him pass on Tunsil for Stanley. Times are a changin'. -
