  1. I keep coming back to this too. I'm not in love with any of these QBs, but I do like several of them to varying degrees. Sometimes the thing you need most just isn't there to be had.
  2. He actually played some edge rusher with his hand in the dirt at Bama. He should get a chance to see what he can do at MLB and in various packages. If he's not effective at LB in passing packages, then seeing what he can do as a pass rusher in those packages is certainly worth looking into. The team might find some additional value there.
  3. I really don't think that's a good way to look at things. For starters, cutting Carp would yield $2.4M in cap space, but about that much would get spent on a new kicker anyway so there really wouldn't be a net gain. You can look at the KW situation similarly as a quality replacement would cost real money. But kickers are pretty interchangeable and comparable talent is easy to find. Quality DTs are a different story. IF the Bills are confident they can replace KW in FA with a younger player of similar ability, then they'd be better off doing that. Let's face it, KW is done after this season and it'd be much better to have a long term solution in place than to be scrambling to find one next offseason. Keeping him at a reduced salary this season while getting a rookie's feet wet is another good way to go.
  4. Savings from cutting KW would be $6.8M. The other $1.5M would still count as dead money. $8.3M is the total cap charge if he's kept at his current deal. Still would be a significant savings though.
  5. If it's a rebuild year, then the Bills should move on. If they are pushing for a playoff appearance, then they should keep him. It would be a $6.8M savings if his roster bonus is not paid and he's in the last year of his deal. The Bills will probably ask him to take a pay cut rather than just release him. Notably, there's no one on the team that can fill his spot.
  6. Well, they already got one. The 3rd round pick is going to NE for Collins. One of the fourth round picks is going to Philly as part of the trade that got the Iggles Wentz. They still have the other 4th and the 5th.
  7. Thanks for the input. Glad I'm not the only one seeing it.
  8. One thing that bothers me about Trubisky is his throwing motion. I've watched film of him and sometimes he has a nice, over the top motion, but many other times he looks like he's pushing the ball. Just a weird motion. It looks like he might just need to gain some consistency there. It'd be nice to know how he takes to coaching on such things during his visit.
  9. Wilson was taken in the 3rd round with the 75th overall pick. If Trubisky is 6'1" and we're talking about a 2nd round pick (like Brees), then that's one thing. If we're talking about taking a 6'1" QB at 10 overall, then that's another. No thanks. There's a much increased risk with shorter QBs and draft position needs to account for that.
  10. One thing that isn't being mentioned is that the decision might not be simply keep him/cut him, it might be a series of options in which retaining Taylor isn't the first. Maybe they're going to see what other QBs make it to FA, legitimately come available via trade and even see which teams drafting above 10 fill their QB need early in FA before 3/11.
  11. It's a nicely done mock, Gunner. Great job. Adams is a player I'd love at 10. How the QBs shake out will be very interesting. I suspect that the big story after Day 1 will be that there wasn't the big, early run on QBs that many are projecting.
  12. Sammy wants paid, a QB that can get him the ball and an offense that encourages the QB to get him the ball.
  13. I definitely had some before I was ready to get married and settle down. That's about where the Bills are with Tyrod. He's the Bills' girlfriend that pushed them into getting engaged a year ago. Now they have to either marry him or break up.
  14. This is extraordinarily naive.
  15. The job of a bridge QB is simply to hold the fort down so you don't have to throw an unprepared rookie QB into the fray before he's ready. He's just there so a team doesn't ruin their highly drafted potential FQB.
  16. That could work out well. Let Woods walk after this season and if Gory is up to taking over for him, then sign him longterm.
  17. Would be stunned if any team paid his current contract. All nonguaranteed money, but he's due $15M, $16M, $20M and $21.7M in each of the next 4 years. That's a ton of money for a guy who looks totally washed up.
  18. Wood is expensive, but a lot of that is due to the past restructuring of his contract. He'll count $7.58M in 2017 as it stands. That'd be his last season under contract. If cut, he'd still count $4.32M. That's a savings of $3.26M. If a new C costs about $2M, then savings would be around $1.26M. For that, I'd rather not rock the boat and either let him play his deal out or extend him and kick some of the cap hit this season into future years. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/eric-wood-5637/
  19. .....finally find a franchise QB.
  20. I think Whaley has been a mixed bag. I'd have probably moved on from him along with Rex, but can understand why Pegula kept him on. I'm not a Tyrod fan, but that actually mitigates Whaley's blame on the QB front. Rex brought in Tyrod who was successful enough to warrant a further look last season. Whaley shopped for the players that Rex wanted to help him win so QB wasn't a big focus. Cardale was a good developmental pick and that holds true whether or not he pans out. Now it's up to Whaley to find a QB. He brought in the new HC so any differences in opinion on QB should've already been worked out.
  21. Only 25 players are currently under contract in 2018. That $70M or so has to be used for 28 more active players, all of the practice squad and any players on IR.
  22. You can reasonably make the case that Cousins hasn't reached FQB status, but no way is Taylor near his status. Taylor is somewhere between a low level starting QB and a high level backup. Cousins is at minimum a mid-tier QB and arguably a franchise QB.
  23. Flacco, when hot and in his prime, was better. But I'll take the current Cousins over the Flacco of the past few seasons - and I don't think it's particularly close.
