  1. Same here. I enjoyed him and Skip Bayless being on the same show so I could miss them both at the same time.
  2. I agree. He's still got a long way to go though. He's on pace to get about 500 yards this season, which isn't starter material. It also isn't nothing. I don't mind keeping him around as a depth/developmental WR. I did not. At all. How about this? If Goodwin finishes the season with 500 yards receiving, he will lead all Bills in receiving yards. Currently he's second to Woods' 493 with 364 yards. Let that sink in. If Goodwin doesn't hit 500 yards we probably won't have a receiver who does, unless Watkins gets 319 more yards the rest of the way out.
  3. My plan would be: - Attempt to sign (or trade for) a better option at QB (as defined in my post above) within the first two days of free agency. - Allow TT to walk if successful. If not, keep him with the understanding that he'll be getting $40.25M over two seasons, but that the search for a better option will continue. - Draft a QB. Make it a priority. - If Taylor is retained, then focus on getting what you can from him in 2017 while developing Cardale and drafted QB. If Tyrod is not retained have his replacement compete with Cardale and drafted QB. What's your plan?
  4. I can't believe anyone wants to see more of EJ. It's over. Let it go, ALF. That's the rub, isn't it? Tyrod doesn't seem to be the ultimate answer, but is there a better short term solution? I'll note that his bonus is due on the 3rd day of the league season. Maybe a better option can be found - and by "better" I mean either straight up better or comparable and cheaper.
  5. BS. 18 of 35 for 191 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT. 1 fumble, lost. 3 rushes for 30 yards and 1 TD. That's Tyrod's stat line. I'm not sure the Bills will find better next season, but they damn well need to be looking because that kind of performance isn't close to good enough.
  6. I agree with the OP. One more loss (or out of hand game) and it wouldn't hurt to get Cardale on the field. I'd avoid throwing him out there if he's not at all ready or if we are up against a tough defense though. Get him some experience and see what we've got to work with.
  7. I did. Again, it might just be a defense mechanism to save me from being disappointed, but I called it. Oakland has an excellent offense, there was plenty of time left and Carr has a slew of comebacks this season so it was pretty logical too. At the point I made the prediction I thought we'd lose on a late 4th quarter drive by Carr - or maybe even squeak it out for a close win. I didn't see it getting out of hand and losing by two TDs though.
  8. Yeah, just like it was too early to call him a success after the first 3 games. Wentz has a couple pretty glaring issues that have been exposed - he's horrible under pressure and his delivery is long, slow and awkward. It's common for QBs attempting to correct their throwing motion to revert to their old habits when in game situations, especially when they are under pressure. If Wentz can correct his mechanics and keep them corrected, then he will probably be a good NFL QB. If not, he'll just be another highly drafted bust.
  9. Up by 15 and I said "Time to lose in the most Bills-y of fashion". I was only half joking. Oakland scored a TD to close to 8 and I thought "Well, there it is." I knew what was coming at that point. Up by 15, I think it was mostly a self-defense mechanism. But you could just see Oakland step up and the Bills step down after that.
  10. You had me going. Nicely done.
  11. I'm not in Twitter so I can't see PFF's approach. If you can, please post or link their metrics on this.
  12. Antonio Brown is 5'10". Two seasons ago he led the league in receiving. Last season he was 2nd. This season he's currently 3rd. T.Y. Hilton is 5'9" and sits at 5th. Taller is better (in general), but short WRs can be outstanding as well.
  13. There's a lot that can lead to a QB being under pressure. It could be any or all of the following:- poor blocking - QB holding onto ball too long - receivers failing to get open - QB failing to find open receivers - defenses blitzing more often because QB does poorly when blitzed/under pressure - scheme/playcalling, especially long developing pass plays
  14. For non-playoff teams draft position is based on record. The tiebreaker for teams with identical records is strength of schedule. If SOS is identical a coin flip determines order. Head to head games and games against common opponents do not factor into draft order.
  15. His 2018 salary of $13M also guarantees on the 3rd league day of the 2017 season. That's $40.5M total in guarantees. If his option is picked up it effectively makes him a Bill for 2017 & 2018 at an average rate of $20.25M/season. I'm still on board with picking up his option. It's doubtful a better option will present itself and $20M a season is pretty much in line with what starters get. It will give Rex a viable starting QB in the near term and give the Bills FO 2+ seasons to find and bring along an upgrade, if that's needed.
  16. That jibes with what I remember reading when Watkins was held out of OTAs and TC. IIRC the word was that only the fractures that were not expected to heal on their own were surgically repaired. One that was expected to fully heal on its own was still giving him issues. It makes sense that it could be a pain issue rather than the break not healing at all or refracturing.
  17. I can't believe any fan of any team wants Cutler. He's possesses every negative quality of a gunslinging QB without any of the positive traits. He's never seemed to care about the teams he's been on. Or his teammates. Or the fans. His only redeeming feature is that he's not Johnny Manziel.
  18. I'm really not splitting hairs at all. The assertion was that Atlanta had given up way more than the Bills in their trades for Jones and Watkins. It's not really close and it's in the other direction. I'd much rather have given up the picks Atlanta did rather than the picks we gave up because Atlanta gave up significantly less value than we did. It's kinda silly to just count picks and not look at where those picks fell.
  19. That's not correct. I added draft pick values from the standard chart to the current season picks above. The Bills ended up giving more value than Atlanta in the future picks, but it's close and it would be fair to assume values at the time of trade were equal so I won't quibble about that. The Bills gave up 1350 points plus a future 1st and 4th for Watkins. Atlanta gave up 998 points plus a future 1st and 4th for Jones. Buffalo gave up much more value, the equivalent of the 55th overall pick to be precise.
  20. Just gotta take issue with Atlanta giving up "far more" for Jones than Buffalo gave up for Watkins. Atlanta gave up more picks, but they were picking much later in their rounds.
  21. I keep flip flopping on this. I love the matchup of the Bills DL vs the Raiders OL, but I also think Mack is going to have his way with Miller. The Bills continue to rely on big plays to generate much of their offense and that's always risky. Then there is the question of the health of some of the Bills key players. And they're playing in Oakland. A win is possible, but I'm going to have to go with: Oakland 31 Buffalo 24
  22. Sure, some teams do get help every year. But obviously it's better to control one's own destiny. And in this particular year it's highly unlikely that a 10-6 Bills team would get enough help to get into the playoffs this season.
  23. Yup and yup. 11-5 gets us in. 10-6 and we need a lot of help. I honestly don't see more than 9 wins happening, but while there's still a chance I'm rooting for it - one game at a time.
  24. It has to be so much tougher for shorter QBs to see the middle of the field. Some can develop other traits to mitigate their height disadvantage, but I don't see that happening with TT yet. He seems to be the same QB this year as he was last year so I'm more and more certain that what we've seen is what we're going to get with him. I looked at the NFL.com's scouting report on him. It still seems spot on: http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/tyrod-taylor?id=2495240
