That is very close but maybe a little off on this years hit and we would also want to consider cap savings, not just dead money. Its difficut to figure out the exact numbers due to contract structure and timing of the deal, but here is what we know for sure. The new team would assume the unpaid salary and roster bonuses for the remainder of the contract - including all unpaid guarantees. The Bills would get hit with what theyve already paid him this season plus any unaccounted for signing bonus money. His signing bonus is being written off at $3.2M a year through 2020. That means the Bills get hit with $3.2M this season plus $9.6M next. His compensation this season is $9M ($7.5M guaranteed). We would only get hit with whatever portion of games he is on our roster for. Lastly, he has $2M in roster bonuses this season. The structure is unclear. It is probably divided evenly among all 16 games and paid only if hes on the active roster for the games, but mightve been a lump sum at the beginning of the league year. So if we assume that Glenn would play this week, be traded next week and that the roster bonus structure is per game active, then it calculates as such: 2017 Dead: $3.375M salary + $3.2M signing bonus + $250k roster bonus = $6.825M total 2017 dead 2018 Dead: $9.6M 2017 Cap Impact: $14.2M expected cap hit - $5.625M salary assumed by new team - $1.5M roster bonuses unpaid due to inactivity or paid by new team = $7.075M revised 2017 cap hit. Thats a cap hit reduction of $7.125M this season. This would mean that the Bills would gain $7.125M in cap space this season and get hit with $9.6M next. That $7.125M would be carried over so in effect trading Glenn next week would result in an effective cap hit of $2.475M versus where they stand today. If the roster bonus has already been completely paid wed have $1.5M more in dead cap this season and overall cap hit. Realistically its still a lot of dead money to eat, so the trade compensation would really have to be worthwhile for the Bills to consider moving him.

Zay Jones. 5 of 23 is pitiful

Exactly. Rookie 2nd round WR with 5 games played. -
Niners shopping Carlos Hyde
BarleyNY replied to HumbleAndHungry's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
http://sportsinjurypredictor.com/player/carlos-hyde/6976 Link to injury history above. He’s not a back I’d want to commit to long term for that reason. -

Sammy Watkins complaining about targets again
BarleyNY replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sammy has his next contract on the line. Of course he wants targets. -
Perhaps it’s because he has seemed out of shape. When he has had more snaps he’s not done well, so maybe the thinking is that less snaps will yield better results.

One Final Observation on the Denver Game
BarleyNY replied to Juice_32's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nice post, Juice. I was still catching up on my DVR at the end of the game and missed McD doing this. It’s good to see that the chaotic, high stress time at the end of close NFL games isn’t too big for him. Awareness like that shows that he belongs. -
After/during game will Peterman come in and replace Taylor?
BarleyNY replied to Paulus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It will all depend on two things: when Peterman is ready enough to start and if Taylor gets injured. Notably the bye week for the Bills is week 6. If ready I can see Peterman getting some reps in game 5 and then the change being made over the bye. -

No more XX Bills fans (Title edited)

I thought he meant there are no more female Bills fans. -
PFF: Bills are 31st for time for Taylor to throw.
BarleyNY replied to JM2009's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is correct. Time to throw is the time from snap to release. -
If character is so important to the new regime...

As has been noted on this board a multitude of times, Henderson has had many suspensions and incidents related to marijuana use that far predate his Crohn's diagnosis. He's not here because he'd rather smoke pot than play football. -
Tyrod's contract was reworked before Beane got here. With the guarantees in it he had to stay on the roster for this season. That's not on Beane at all. It's on Whaley and/or McD.

Does This Time Feel Different?
BarleyNY replied to MarlinTheMagician's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To me it felt like we are a QB away from being a very good team, a favorite to make the playoffs at least as a WC team. Thanks -

My family in North Naples is okay. Scary times and no power for the last half a day, but all are well as of now. Hope everyone else here and their families are faring as well. -
A few thought about the Jets game. In no particular order
BarleyNY replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jest still have a lot of talent on their front 7 and were focused on McCoy. The Bills did very well running the ball considering that. We're going to have agree to disagree on Tyrod. Loved what I saw from White too. Agree there. And I agree with the grain of salt comment. It was against a bad Jest team. -
A few thought about the Jets game. In no particular order
BarleyNY replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Overall it was a very positive game for the Bills. The rushing attack looked great. The defense looked very good. The passing offense had its moments and it was good to see him hit Clay over the middle. I think Taylor is doing everything he can to help the team, including running the ball well, but I still don't see him getting through progressions. That's what's holding the team back right now. He's got to find his second and third options instead of locking onto his primary and then running if that's not there. -
Contracts in the NFL don't usually have much in the way of guarantees (except for elite players) and teams often void them if players aren't living up to them. This is just the other side of that coin. It's a business. Why get bent out of shape when a player holds out and not when teams release players?
