Richie Incognito Retires Via Twitter - Now Confirmed

No way do the Bills get any of the earlier signing bonus back, but there’s definitely going to be a fight over the $1M restructure signing bonus. -

I agree. Might be a negotiation tactic though. If he’s going to cause a stink and fight giving it back, then the Bills might give him a portion of it to go away and avoid the bad PR. -

Gotta wonder about that $1M signing bonus in context of this medical claim. Money already paid to players is very difficult for teams to recoup, but it does happen in some circumstances. This would seem to be one of those - a bad faith negotiation where a player takes a signing bonus check and then retires. Claiming it was done in good faith, but he had to stop playing due to health issues might be RI trying to keep some or all of it. Not saying this is what is definitely happening, just something to keep an eye out for. -
We should have kept Taylor... (TSW Mock draft related...)
BarleyNY replied to BuffaLoko's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True. Jackson’s issues occur when he moves and his mechanics and accuracy go to hell, but they’re pretty damn good - among the best in the class - when he doesn’t. The big projection is teaching him to maintain what he can otherwise do when he moves. That certainly seems possible. He’s intriguing. -
There’s no way the team would’ve informed Shady of any pending trade so it’s not something like that. Maybe he’s been approached about a pay cut because something of that nature would make sense. Not saying that’s what it is, but he’s due about $9M this year and $9M next.

In Retrospect: How Did We Make Playoffs Last Year?
BarleyNY replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The chips finally fell in the Bills favor. They’ve had better teams over the drought, but got unlucky. They were in a clump of teams that could’ve made those WC spots. - as they’ve been in the past. This year things broke in their favor and they got a spot. As with those past seasons they were just as deserving as the other teams in that clump. -
Drew Brees SCAMMED out of $8MILLION+
BarleyNY replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That’s fantastic. Brees has really stepped it up since taking a $160k hit on that bad tax deferment investment scam from his long snapper. I remember this because that guy’s brother used to live down the street from me. Before it came out as a scam he told me that his brother was making more money from selling those investments to his teammates than he was from playing football. -
Browns happy with Tyrod......what if.......

Let it go, man. -
Any Bills draft where they acquire a stud QB is my perfect scenario.

I either go out with friends or host a party. I used to watch/listen the whole weekend. Now I’m less engaged as the rounds go by. The “new” 3 day format with the 1st round on Thursday sucks. It was way better before.

LB Rashaan Evans - stock dropping?

If you’re a lover of SPARQ scores (or athleticism), this dude has the goods. https://3sigmaathlete.com/rankings/off-los-linebacker/ -
Le’Veon Bell - worth $17 mill/yr?
BarleyNY replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Spotrac’s analysis of his value concurs with yours. They have him at $10.7M per year, which, as you mention, is well above the next highest paid RB. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/pittsburgh-steelers/leveon-bell-12329/market-value/ -
Thanks for the hard work. Nice job!

Because they aren’t the same players and McCarron doesn’t have an NFL caliber arm. I never saw Taylor as more than a marginal starter who could be a short term bridge QB. I thought it was fine because he was supposed to be a backup QB. If the Bills intent when signing McCarron was for him to be the backup, then that would have been fine with me. But not to be the starter.
-
Why exactly is that? Because he’s a Bill? If he was just named starter of the Dolphins we’d all be laughing at them. Thats not to say that I don’t understand the signing. The Bills missed on the other QBs via FA and trade and it was imperative that they have somebody besides Peterman on the roster. He was pretty much all that was left. Fine. But let’s not pretend it’s something more than that.
-
I do not see an NFL arm on McCarron. I can’t imagine how you do - other than wishful thinking. If other NFL teams thought he had a chance to be anything then one would’ve been happy to pay him large. Instead he signed a 2 year deal at $5M per season with a team in desperate need at QB. Gosh, you’re right. I totally missed that he’s probably another Tom Brady. Well played.
-
Have you seen McCarron play? I have. Again, we are going from a marginal starter at QB to a guy who shouldn’t be starting in the NFL. I always took exception to posts about Taylor being a leader as there was never any evidence offered to back that up.
-
I don’t know about that. It will largely depend on which QBs those teams draft and how patient they are with them. But it won’t be Taylor or McCarron’s play keeping them on the bench.
