  1. I'm embarrassed for you.
  2. So is the Ole Miss offense that had to be simplified for him going to be more or less complex than any NFL offense he will be required to run? I never said he doesn't have any talent. I have acknowledged (in both threads) that he does. It's just that he has a ton of problem areas as well and I've spelled them out pretty clearly. Many of them, individually, would prevent a QB from being successful in the NFL. If he had just one of them he might be able to fix it, but he has a slew of problems and has yet to show the work ethic to improve. Sorry, but he doesn't get to play college teams anymore. Now he gets to go up against the likes of New England, Pittsburgh and Baltimore. You think he'll ever be up to that? I sure don't. And having a segment of Bills fans that think he will because of gaudy college numbers and his family connection clamoring for him to start won't help the team either.
  3. Nooooobody thinks he's a top 10 pick. I wouldn't use a high second on him, but what if he's sitting there in the third? At that point I'm intrigued.
  4. Not a chance. Even without considering his serious medical concerns - or his even more serious character concerns - he's got a lot of issues. His positives are excellent anticipation and a strong arm. His negatives (aside from medical and character) are that he: - had problems learning a college offense that were bad enough that it had to be simplified for him - has poor pocket awareness - has terrible footwork - has poor weight distribution on his throws - is shorter than preferred He'd definitely be draftable if not for the medical and character issues, though. He probably would have been a mid round pick. I pray the Bills don't even take him on as an UDFA though. No way would I want that distraction or ensuing controversy. Can you imagine how some fans and media would clamor for him to see him start/play if he was on the team?
  5. The NFL knows that the 49ers are on the clock. MG to Cleveland is a done deal barring him being run over by a bus or getting caught up in a kiddie porn sting in the next couple weeks.
  6. I can't even imagine how insufferable it would be around here if the Bills somehow acquired Choad Kelly. Inviting the most senselessly heated QB controversy since Tim Tebow was in the league would be grounds for firing Whaley with cause.
  7. My comment was in jest. Those of us who said before last season what everyone is now saying about Rex got hammered for being "negative". That sort of thing doesn't always come across in print though.
  8. Agreed. I could see the Bills jumping up into the bottom of the 1st for him. With QB needy teams at the top of the second round and some teams with aging QBs at the bottom of the first, that'd make sense - with the caveat that they think they could improve his velocity and/or accuracy. I also agree that the Bills aren't really a great fit. Both the weather here and the kind of offense being run. If we are willing to tailor the offense to him and run more of a WCO with him, then that might be a different story. I just don't see him doing well in a vertical offense.
  9. I agree with you in that a QB's ball velocity isn't the be-all-end-all stat. But i disagree on how you're applying that to Watson. His game velocity raises questions IMO. It didn't look like a 49, but it did look marginal for the NFL. Brees is an odd comp to make to say Watson should be a first rounder because he was a second round pick. Also I don't see it as a slight to a QB to say you think he's a top of the second round player. Brees fell to 33 because he was short, lacked velocity and had an injury plagued senior season. I had a young coworker who had just finished at Purdue and came to work with us. His gf was still there for her senior year. She was one of the team's trainers. His back was messed up that season. That certainly affected his throwing his senior season. So how does that compare with Watson? Well, first I'd look at differences. Watson is taller and far more athletic than Brees. But Brees is much, much more accurate. Accuracy would be a concern of mine with Watson even if his velocity was sitting at 55, but combined those two are a killer. The weaker a QB's arm, the more accurate he must be and Watson hasn't shown that he has that accuracy. I'll throw in a caveat to some of this, however. What if Watson isn't quite right physically or there is a correctable mechanical flaw that could be fixed that would improve his velocity and/or accuracy? That's what I don't know. It would probably change my opinion that he's a prospect that deserves to go at the top of the second round though. But from what I've seen so far and what I know, that's where he belongs.
  10. That's not true. QBs time under 55 regularly. Of the 8 that were timed at the Combine this year, 3 were under 55. Kaaya and Peterman were clocked at 53. Watson's low velocity of 49 is rarely seen though. That's the rarity you're thinking of. There have been some players you've never heard of clock lower, but the last notable QBs that threw at 49 were Mike Glennon and AJ McCarron. Notably, AJ wasn't timed at the Combine and it was adjusted to 53 though I'm not sure why. Here's a link to a spreadsheet that includes this data: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_-SienfT3umX0HKxRyQqyXM9BqHrotdcQA6W-V_pDiY/htmlview?pli=1#
  11. You're just being negative. Why, oh why, are so many posters so negative all the time?
  12. It didn't take long for NFL DCs to figure him out. 5 or 6 games. Now is when he needs to grow and adjust. I don't think he can though. But that is because Wentz still has potential for upside whereas Tyrod is viewed as a known commodity. Wentz also looks more, shall we say, prototypical. I don't see Tyrod as more than a good bridge QB, but he outperformed Wentz last season, especially after the first six weeks.
  13. Sometimes teams talk themselves into believing in mirages. The Iggles look to have done this with Wentz.
  14. This is a very flat and deep draft so I don't mind moving back pretty far as long as compensation is good.
  15. Agreed. The wildcard player I'd throw in to the mix is Foster. Not sure but McD might need someone like him for his defense.
  16. Fair enough. I'll check out some of his 2015 game film.
  17. No way. He's on his option year this season at $8.069M and is a FA next season. The Bills really can't afford him this season and they really won't be able to after that with what his next contract should be. Does anyone else want to double up on the Dareus situation of a very highly paid DL who keeps getting suspended for pot?
  18. https://www.profootballfocus.com/draft-daily-why-we-likely-wont-see-many-first-round-trades/?utm_content=buffer39320&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=nfl Hers a PFF article that covers that very thing. It's a very, very deep and flat draft past Garrett and maybe one or two others. No one is saying that a trade back from 10 is impossible, but it's looking very unlikely. In the event you can gain additional ammunition in the first 3 rounds of this draft - or premium future picks - yes, you do it. Just don't bank in it. I'm so with you. This isn't the draft to squander premium picks.
  19. Also a good comp. That's not a big slight either.
  20. That's a good comp too. He'll, yes, I like that!
  21. I've watched game film of 4 QBs so far this season. I've still got to go watch Kizer who I wrote off after seeing him play live (briefly). But I like Peterman better than Trubisky, Mahomes and Watson. His arm strength is certainly a question and I think he fits a WC or other offense with mostly quick throws much more so than Buffalo's vertical passing game, but he's the only one I really like above the shoulders. He's definitely not Derek Carr, he is more Andy Dalton. Edited to add: Just watched Kizer's game against Stanford. I didn't think there was any way he could've been as bad as I remembered. He is. He's just abysmal. Tons of physical ability, but zero feel for the game. Its incomprehensible that he could have that much talent and be so bad.
  22. Feel free to debate my points, but please do so like an adult. Spare me the mewling about my level football knowledge. If you require someone to be a NFL scout or GM in order to discuss such things, then you shouldn't post on or visit this site. Your childish whining doesn't help your cause either.
  23. I'll be hanging with friends, quite probably at my house.
  24. I was transferring when I typed that. And aren't you supposed to be enriching our youth at 9:20 in the morning? I really want a lot of a wide receiver addition. The current offense with Taylor is going to require a speedster who can get deep because we are going to have to stay run-first with vertical passing. But I want to look past 2017. I'm not convinced Watkins will be around in 2019 and I think it's unlikely that Taylor will. We might need more out of this player than just running lightning fast fly patterns. The offense might require more of him at that point and he might need to be the #1 WR. That's a tall order, so let me simplify. I want a speedy WR who can either be/grow into a #1 or quality #2. He's got to do more than just be fast though. So who fits that? Mike Williams isn't fast enough, so I'll pass on him. Davis is an excellent route runner in addition to being very fast. He fits. Despite his injury concerns I'd be happy with him at 10. I don't see Ross as a great fit despite his speed. I'm not sure he does much else. I also don't think he's worth maneuvering for. Pass. In the second round I'm looking at Godwin. He is plenty fast and, can run routes well and is big, tall and aggressive. My sleeper is Chad Williams from Grambling. Big, fast and strong. He has a chance to be as good as (or better than) the WRs at the top of the draft.
  25. I'm just trying to think of all of the other QB prospects we are discussing at great length who check all of these boxes. Who are the others that:- have a litany of off the field red flags throughout their high school and collegiate careers - couldn't learn a fairly simple college offense which resulted in coaches simplifying it for him - have poor pocket awareness - have terrible footwork - have poor weight distribution on their throws - are short - have substantial injury concerns I can only think of one that is close to that. But, hey, he's got a strong arm, throws with anticipation and is Jim Kelly's nephew. There are a lot of sh***y collegiate players I don't waste my time on. But I'll make an exception here.
