Sam was a stalwart of the craft beer industry. Few have the level of respect that he does among brewers and true craft beer enthusiasts. Props to him for not selling out to one of the big conglomerates. In all honesty, it was probably the right time for this move and he sold to a much better option. Cheers, Sam!

Don’t see the point in even looking at Smith unless we owed his agent a favor or something. If we want a decent all around TE then we could go after Rudolph after Minny releases him.

We're building the offense around the passing attack
BarleyNY replied to VW82's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it stems from having a QB whose strength it’s the vertical game. You gotta have an OL to effectively pass block while receivers get deep. One of my biggest complaints early last season was about the OL. It wasn’t just that they were bad in general and bad at pass blocking in particular, it was that the coaches quickly stuck a raw rookie QB behind it. A raw rookie QB whose strength is the deep ball. The defense and Allen’s athleticism carried us to those 6 wins. Without him buying time for throws and scrambling for yards after the pass pro broke down we wouldn’t have made it close to 6 wins. I've said before that Allen needs to get the ball out in rhythm on his drops more. He does, but the think I don’t mention is that he got a very raw deal last season and that he still found a way to produce. That is highly commendable. It was far from the learning environment he should’ve been afforded. This season should provide a much better situation for Allen and I look forward to seeing what he can do with it. -
Is this our old friend Leroy?

Trade Lawson and a 2020 draft pick for Clowney?
BarleyNY replied to tomur67's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that a first and Lawson is reasonable, but I am not sure our first will be. A lot depends on the expectations for the team - and Allen - this season. If they are confident that they’d be trading away a pick in the 20s, then it is an easy deal to make. If they’re worried it’ll be a top 10 pick again, then they can’t pull the trigger. There is a lot of optimism here for our record, but Vegas doesn’t share that. Only 4 teams have an expected win total lower than the Bills. And two more have the same at 6.5. That would put us between picks 5 and 7. There’s no way I’d give up that for Clowney. I’d use those low expectations and offer Lawson, our 2020 second plus our 2021 3rd. Those two picks would put us in the equivalent range of a low first. This regime isn’t on the collective hot seat so I don’t see them taking the chance of offering our 2020 first and Lawson unless they are very confident that our record will exceed outside expectations and have us drafting in the 20s. Still, it’s a risk. Allen is big but he ran a lot last season. What if he gets injured early and the season tanks? -
Looking at what he made during his career and what he was being paid by the Bills, I was surprised that he even took the job last season.

See you at the picnic chumps.

Yeah. Add in a women’s league with tight fitted uniforms and they’ve got a gold mine. -
That’s where I work out. It’d be quite the commute for you though, AF.

I get that older players making a lot are the usual suspects for cap savings. But I think you might be underestimating how good Calais Campbell is. He’s been an absolute freaking stud for the last several seasons. I think you have a good list overall, but the Jags probably are not letting Campbell go at all. If they were to, it’d be for significant draft value. As for their cap issues, I really don’t think things are that bad for the Jags. They only show being over the cap if you count all contracts. They have over $14M available under the rule of 51. The draft picks will trim that down, but they won’t have to make any cap moves to accommodate them.
-
It’s the Jags so you never know. He’d be an incredible pick up for anything less than a premium draft pick.
-
Agreed. I very highly doubt that he would be a cap casualty anytime soon.

In the wake of Ziggy to Seattle - What does Beane do now?
BarleyNY replied to TigerJ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/all/available/ Here is a list of unsigned FAs. It is very uninspiring after the first 4 names - and they don’t seem like fits for the Bills. -
Some people can like the convenience of working out at home and can do it. Some people prefer to get out of their house to work out. I’ve done both, but prefer the latter. Once I’m on my way out the door, I’m committed to my session. I tend to find other things to do at home and then (Oops!) it’s too late to get the work out in. Plus there’s no wife or children pestering me for anything at the gym. And I like to swim. My regiment is to alternate lifting with swimming and taking every 4th day off. So it is lift-swim-lift-off-swim-lift-swim-off. I throw in an extra day off if I’m fatigued, busy, out of town, etc.

That is just stupid. Like forcefully stupid. Let’s see, people working hard in restaurants, nail salons, etc. can walk out at any time and find a different/better job. They can report illegal treatment to authorities. They don’t have to worry about being beaten and raped to death for doing those things. That would be the standard for the typical prostitute and, if you were not aware, a significant difference. Please note: I am speaking generally about prostitution in this country. I have not followed this particular case all that closely.

Not sure if it was on this site or not, but a poster claimed to have info from a friend in the Lions organization regarding Suh. Said he was only interested in making as much money as possible and that when he was with the Rams he didn’t turn it on as far as his play until midway through the season. Also it was noted that all he really uses is a bull rush and that makes him a lot more easy to block than he should be. It all sure seems plausible.

The Browns had a better offensive roster than the Bills, but their defensive roster was definitely worse. Both had terrible special teams rosters though. That one is a tough call. The Browns also had truly horrible coaching. Hue Jackson might have been the worst NFL HC ever - and statistically that’s true. Then there’s Greggg running his ridiculous defensive scheme. Ugh.

One way to help Josh Allen's accuracy: Fewer dropped passes
BarleyNY replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/stats/passing#completionPercentageAboveExpectation Allen isn’t doing well with advanced metrics that account for things like drops and quality of receivers though. He’s dead last in Time To Throw and third last in Completion Percentage Above Expectation. One can argue that his TTT mark is mitigated somewhat by his ability to buy time to throw, but it’s also due to him almost never getting the ball out on his drops. That has to improve. Ditto his accuracy/timing. Hopefully the training he has been doing with his footwork helps there. He will have an improved cast around him so hopefully the experience he got last year and the work he’s done in the offseason help him take that big step forward. -
Almost Certain Improvement--6.5?
BarleyNY replied to JESSEFEFFER's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You'd think so. Unless there’s some bias that Vegas could profitably exploit. Seems like looking at l the lines for all 32 teams collectively could shed some light on that. I randomly chose a site for those figures and totaled the wins. Total wins was 259.5 rather than the expected 256 so the average team wins was 8.1. +3.5 wins across the league seems pretty reasonable - and actually maybe a little low. I believe that there is one big reason for that: injuries. Fans are betting on expected outcomes of relatively healthy teams now. They aren’t factoring in the relatively low chance that THEIR team will have a catastrophic problem. They won’t see their QB get knocked out for most of the season or have their star player suspended indefinitely. But things like that will happen to a couple or a few teams. So I’d conclude that, if anything, Vegas is actually shading the win totals up ever so slightly to reap the benefits of those events. Not the other way around. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.actionnetwork.com/nfl/2019-nfl-win-totals-betting-odds-vegas -
CBS Sports predicts Bills will land Ziggy
BarleyNY replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don’t hold your breath. Ansah will have to wait until he is sure he will pass an NFL physical. That may not be for months. In the meantime there isn’t much NFL news to talk about with the post draft, pre training camp lull. He is just about the only notable free agent at a premium position left on the market so speculation to every possible destination articles will abound. -

Yup. A 2+ year deal please. With Shaq playing his last season in Buffalo (he is) and Hughes on the last year of his deal (extend please) it’d be nice to have at least one quality DE under contract for 2020. Ansah makes a ton of sense for the Bills as well as some other teams. Hope we get him.
