Agreed. No need to burn $10M in cap space for a guy who’s going to phone it in until he gets injured. I’m not a McCarron fan, but Cutler doesn’t bet us much. Plus I wouldn’t want him directly or indirectly influencing Allen.

Pats* to hire taekwando instructor

Hapkido as well. Some of the Korean Tae Kwon Do masters I knew brought in Hapkido masters for training sometimes. -
Which Bills Decision Infuriated You?
BarleyNY replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hiring Rex and watching him dump Schwartz. I tried to give him the benefit of doubt that he’d be smart and flexible enough to continue to run an attacking, one-gap 4-3 with Cover 2 but as soon as he said he was installing his read-and-react, 2-gap 3-4 with Cover 0, well, I knew we were screwed. The defense went from top 5 to garbage and we got to watch him change out half the personnel that would again have to be swapped out since that style of defense doesn’t work anymore. Super. An underrated sign of quality ownership is that they really need to choose a style of play for their offense and defense and hire only coaches who are consistent with that. Changes can happen, but not unnecessarily. Watkins over Mack is runner up. -
Count me as I one who really didn’t think it a stretch that Ward went 4th overall. Chubb was the best of a bad class of Edge players and I think he’ll be a good player. I just don’t think he’s as good as his hype. I don’t see him as an elite NFL player. Ward was the best CB prospect in the draft - and he excels at man and press, which is increasingly rare. If the Patriots had made that pick everyone would be praising it. Would I have traded White for that 4th overall pick straight up? Yeah, I would have. That’s a lot of draft capital and the Bills have a lot of holes. It could’ve been parlayed into multiple picks (or prevented trading up with multiple picks). I really like White (and I realize his absence would create another hole), but Cover 3 Bail CBs are much easier to find than most at the position.

*Just get through this, Tom. Just get through it and remember Jack’s waiting for you at home.* -
It probably doesnt help when people like me are rushing to check the site here and there around work. Sorry about the “dumb” comment about the poll. That was not called for. My bad. FWIW I will be rooting for Allen as long as he’s in a Bills uniform.
-
I don’t think you really got what you were looking for though. You were effectively asking what fans hate the Allen pick so much that they’ll root against him and the Bills. Anyone want to cop to that? The small number of dissenting votes can be accounted for by: - trolls - legit fans of other teams on this site yanking our chain and - people who misunderstood the question

Do we have the worst QB situation in the league?
BarleyNY replied to Seanbillsfan2206's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with this entire post. Well said. Cle: So sorry. I take Tyrod over McCarron and Mayfield over Allen every single time. Chi: Trubisky is a better prospect than Allen. Sorry. indy: It all depends on Luck’s health. If healthy, there’s no contest. Wait and see. Jax: Bortles. Wow. It would depend on what Allen becomes. Bortles is serviceable. No QB on the Bills has proven to be so yet. Mia: Ditto Hou: Ditto except Watson showed to be better than serviceable before being injured. Bal: Seriously? Flacco has fallen off considerably since he was Super Bowl MVP. But he was, you know, Super Bowl MVP - and he’s still better than anyone on the Bills roster has shown to be. i hope the Bills QB roster far exceeds my expectations - and I’ll be rooting for them all - but take the rose colored glasses off for just a sec. -
I’m sure a few are. Some might’ve misread/misunderstood the poll though. I did at first then changed my vote when I caught my mistake. Kind of a dumb poll as written when you think about it. What’s the point? Who’s still pouting?

Didn’t want the Bills to pick him, but he’s our QB so I’m rooting for him. I’m not sure who wouldn’t be rooting for him whether or not they liked the pick.
-
Actually Sashi Brown wanted to draft Wentz but coach Hue Jackson didn’t want him.

I remembers thinking that at least we got an extra pick in the trade back before taking EJ. Still wasn’t a fan of him as a prospect. High bust potential and not a great ceiling. Was not a big fan of the fairly expensive trade up for Allen and am not a big fan of him as a prospect, mainly because he has such a high bust potential. But at least he has a very high ceiling and we didn’t give up any future picks. McBean swung for the fences with him and we will just have to hope for the best. Not much else to do at this point.

Chad Reuter: Final Quick Snap Draft Grades

I noticed that too. I think I saw one C- for a given day grade. Wow. -
Anybody else have faith in AJ Mccarron?
BarleyNY replied to Rebel101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. We’re taking one in the shorts this season to build for the future. It needs to be done. McCarron wasn’t even close to McBean’s first choice as a bridge QB so I’m not expecting much. -
Opinions on why we passed on Rosen?

Concussions. -
It makes a lot of sense. I just hope both teams find their next FQB in this draft.

Bills aggressively trying to get ahead of Jets
BarleyNY replied to Jammer8732's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For what it’s worth, one of the rumors I heard from a Browns source is that Darnold is the only QB that the NYG would take at 2. -
You do if you’re trying to inflate the values of the QBs in the draft so you can move the 4th pick for a ransom.
-
Rosen or Darnold? Who's your pick?
BarleyNY replied to ColdFront_USAF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rosen. It’s not close. But I’ve not done much real research this season. -
Bills the worst team in the NFL this season?
BarleyNY replied to Seanbillsfan2206's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is that what happened there? Or did the poster compare the differences in the specific position groups? Right now I’m struggling to find a position group that’s improved - other than the DL. Several are definitely worse at the moment: QB, OL (by a whole lot), CB, LB and probably even WR. But, as some have noted, this isn’t the final roster. We’ve got the draft and cut downs to pick up help. The other point that has been brought up is point differential, which statistically is a better predictor of teams’ records the following year than their actual record from the previous year. IIRC the Bills exceeded their prediction last season with 9 wins as opposed to their predicted 7 (I think it was 6.7or 6.8). Their differential in 2017 indicated about 7 wins for 2018 too. That explains the rebuild, which is actually comforting to me. The McBean regime recognized that they overachieved last season and they’re preparing for the long term rather than fooling themselves into believing that they could stay the course and repeat their relative success. The upshot for me is that I won’t be expecting a great record next season, but I will expect to see a team building for the future and one that will fill some (but not all of its) holes and be competitive. -
Bills the worst team in the NFL this season?
BarleyNY replied to Seanbillsfan2206's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Man do I hate the “who knows what will happen until the games are played?” arguement. It’s reasonable t9 make educated guesses that can then be argued. The alternative is never to speculate about anything. -
Bills the worst team in the NFL this season?
BarleyNY replied to Seanbillsfan2206's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sadly accurate. Making the playoffs last season will give this regime some capital with the fans and they’re going to spend a far bit of it this season. It’s not a total tear down and they won’t be the worst team in the league, but it’s a rebuild and they won’t make .500 either. Or rather they’d have to hit big at QB for a winn8ng record to happen.
