  1. Total BS. David Carr hung in as long as anyone could have expected for Houston. He got the hell beat out of him for 5 seasons behind garbage OLs. They never protected him with scheme either. Chris Palmer, the OC there, did the same thing to Tim Couch in Cleveland when he was HC. It’s a lazy, false narrative.
  2. Fair enough, but in this case there are only 32 of those jobs total and only a handful come available every year. So it’s not a bad idea to take the job and huge contract with lots of guaranteed money. You’ve got a free pass on the garbage HC for a season and have that time to set up the moves you want to make. No need to rush like would have been the case last season. Using all of those picks to improve the team - and Dorsey certainly did that - is only going to help the chances of finding a quality coach too.
  3. Yes. Hue is a dead man walking. Dorsey has thought he was an idiot from day 1. Haslam required Dorsey to keep him into this season as a condition of becoming GM. That’s the only reason he is still there.
  4. Agreed. We have a very productive Hughes for 2019. Why mess that up.for a late round pick? There's not much to be done about Clay. The contract has already done it's damage. $4.5M in salary this year as next to go along with $4.5M signing & option bonus prorated cap hits in each year. Nothing to be done about those. Only the remaining salary can be effected by trading or cutting him. Benjamin can go any time for anything, but I doubt anyone is buying now. Shady's value just plummeted so I don't see him getting moved either despite his ability.
  5. ? I’ll just skip the commercials on the recording. I’ll be caught up by the end of the 3rd quarter
  6. I’m heading to Lowe’s after this drive. Will catch up DVR when I get back. I can’t take this quantity of commercials, injury related or not.
  7. Quality defensive stand for a 3 & out just to give some hope. Aaannnndddd BOOM! Nice job, Fate. Well played.
  8. Wow. A “what if” thread. Let’s just stick with reality. We all know what the likely effects of Allen’s success or failure would be.
  9. Not all of us. Some of us got shouted down when we said how bad that contract was. “That’s what we had to do to get him!” was mostly what people said. No excuse to give him a contract like we did. It wasn’t Whaley’s worst mistake by any stretch, but it was definitely a mistake.
  10. The Peter Principle simply states that people who show competency will be promoted until they’re at a level where they’re incompetent. Think Michael Scott. I was referring more to coaches who are inflexible in their schemes or are only good with certain types of people. Coaches who can recruit (sell!) and are good at leading college kids but can’t effectively coach grown men (some of whom make more money than them) is a good example. McCoy might just need to be under the right kind of head coach to thrive. As a head coach he sure fit the Peter Principle rule well though.
  11. I used to live in Strongsville, OH which is a suburb where many Browns players and staff lived. It’s definitely true that some players really enjoyed the cost of living and lifestyle of places like B-lo and the Cleve. You’re more likely to get family men looking for stable places to raise their families than the younger, single partiers though. IMO that’s not a bad thing. How many high priced free agents went to Miami to party and semi-retire? It’s much more important to build a winner. That way you don’t have to overpay for FAs and you can even get some discounts. That all starts by drafting well.
  12. Plus there is Hyde’s contract to consider. That had to hurt his trade value.
  13. Chuckie is Rex Ryan. Running outdated system and not bothering to update it while milking an owner for stupidly large sums of money (large to the casual fan at least).
  14. Some coaches can’t perform outside of their wheelhouses. Some situations or challenges are simply out of their scope.
  15. Keep going, Kim. You know what you signed up for. It’s the only way I’m getting through this.
  16. True. But there certainly are prospects that can be quality WRs in the NFL. The Bills have to find at least one of them. Two would be better. This has been one of the biggest changes in draft predictability. OL used to have such a high hit rate, but not now. They’re such huge projections that’s so far from the case these days.
  17. I can’t imagine why we’d do that. If those players are performing then they’re staying on their team. If they’re not, then why do we want them? Benjamin was only brought on because we were in the hunt for a playoff birth. I don’t see that being realistic this season. The only scenario where it makes sense is if a player doesn’t fit in a new scheme, but would fit here - and you’re always looking for that. The one possible exception is Amari Cooper. The cash strapped Raiders might be willing to deal him before giving him his next deal. They’ll be in better shape after moving to Vegas, but he’ll need paid before then. Would he be worth it though? Dropsies being a problem for him and all.
  18. I am sure that’s true, but plenty of people would support that player wholeheartedly. And a bunch more of us would do as you said, but still be happy he was producing. Personally I’d be elated to take a Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson and/or OBJ on my team.
  19. Okay. Jim Kelly. Revered in Buffalo. People have conveniently forgotten the number of times he sent Jill to the hospital when he played here. There’s the numerous times he partied with women not Jill and all of the reported times he was a class A jerk to people. Yes, he’s also done a lot of charity work and kept his public image clean, but I’ll never wear his jersey. With that said, I am out.
  20. He did go into the locker room one play early to get an IV, if Shurmur is to be believed. And he was back catching the ball on the Giants first play from scrimmage. So you are making something out of nothing here. Ditto for your complaints about his meaningless (albeit childish) antics. Get real.
  21. I could not agree more. OBJ is an arrogant jerk, but he’s not Ray Lewis or Ben Roethlisberger. He’s full of himself. Imagine that, a highly talented WR with an oversized ego. If he was a Bill no one on this board would care - except for the trolls - and a bunch would wear his jersey.
  22. The crux of the issue is whether to use resources to acquire another QB versus a player that could help Allen succeed. Let’s say free agency doesn’t yield anything and we’re sitting with a top 10 pick. Our pick rolls around and there’s both quality QB and WR prospects on the board. What do you do? Passing on that WR for someone to compete with Allen will certainly be seen as undercutting him. The Bills better be sure that he’s NOT their guy if they make that kind of move.
  23. 7th in DVOA now. Niiiiice! https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/teamdef
