  1. Prior to coming to Cleveland last season Bruce Arians has been grooming Kitchens to take over as HC in AZ when he left. So he’s had some exposure to those things.
  2. Heard from several people with close ties to the team that they thought Kitchens was the right choice. That has been the case for weeks. Also heard that many players did not want Gregg retained as HC or DC and that they conveyed that to the powers that be in Berea.
  3. Yeah. Ability to understand the position including route running/options and ability to separate. Just get me that.
  4. Yup. It was particularly egregious to put a raw rookie QB into an offense with a vertical passing game with such poor OTs and no real weapons at WR or TE. Add in no running game and it's no surprise that Allen and the passing offense struggled.
  5. I agree that Brown is still an elite talent and will be for a few more seasons. But I just don't want him on my team. He sure seems to be all about himself and not his team. You can sometimes get away with adding a selfish, but highly talented player to a mature, successful team. But you can't build a team like that. I wonder if any of the posters here who are clambering for AB also rip on OBJ (who hasn't done done things that come close to what AB just did).
  6. Running is a very nice extra for a QB, but to highly rate one that player should be an effective and efficient passer. Chubb was PFFs highest rated RB overall, not just rookie RB. Allen wasn’t a well rated QB. He has shown flashes - and that’s great wrt giving fans hope - but it isn’t the same as being good at his job (yet). It’s that simple. I’ll take the guy who did his job the best.
  7. Wow! Are you really using a QB’s rushing stats to judge that player? Just wow. Sure positional importance/difficulty should be favored in, but if you’re going to do that then you really need to judge a player on their primary job.
  8. I’d be it has to do with snaps played. Ward has a much bigger sample size and that should sure count for something. Notably PFF had Nick Chubb as the RB with the best rating. He was first not only amongst rookies, but all RBs. Barkley was ranked 2nd among rookies and 3rd among all RBs. Yet Barkley is 1st on the list above and Chubb is 9th. That’s likely because Barkley has twice the touches that Chubb had. PFF noted exactly that when they named Barkley the best rookie RB.
  9. Check out Ryan Clark’s video on ESPN. It seems like the Steelers have done a good job of keeping his antics in house. http://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/25660913
  10. I have to disagree. Brown has been a tremendous WR to be sure, but what are you buying and for now much? A first? More? Two seconds maybe? That's for a guy that'll be 31 before next season starts. How many more of those seasons does he have left? It's also for a guy who seems to believe that he's more important than his teammates or his team. He got paid big time by the Steelers and with a playoff spot on the line he blew off practice, team meetings and the freaking game! Notably it was the third time this season he has pulled stuff like this. He also left his teammates and coaches hanging before the Bengals game. His teammates still thought that he was playing up until gametime. He refused to suit up and left at halftime. That's not someone I want on my team.
  11. Yeah, he would be a big investment both in terms of draft picks and cap. Just seems like a huge risk. If he can’t be happy in Pittsburgh with Ben then what would he be like here? Unless (like you said) there’s something to the situation we aren’t hearing yet that puts him in a better light, then I’ll pass.
  12. Gotta be honest, while we could sure use his talent I do not want players with his me-first attitude on this team. That can be so toxic.
  13. Actually EJ was at the sideline and should have stepped out a yard or two earlier than he did. He already had the first down so no reason to take the hit. This link has both plays. Second video. First one has Kiko at his best. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000255233/article/what-we-learned-thursday-ej-manuels-injury-was-key
  14. It is an uninspiring list to say the least.
  15. On Spotrac when you look at a contract if you click the red X next to the season you want information about it will show you all of the details about cutting or trading the player that season. The Steelers can trade Brown if they want but it would hurt in the short term. Still, it's manageable.
  16. Spotrac estimates his value at 4 years, $26.4M. That seems reasonable to me based on his production and RFA status. According to them he’s getting overpaid by about $10M, which also seems about right to me. That’s all based on what I’m seeing stats-wise. Can’t say I’ve really watched him play though. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-york-jets/quincy-enunwa-14620/market-value/
  17. Yeah. The PFF article pretty well sums up what I’ve seen from Allen. He’s very athletic and has a cannon, but he’s not accurate with any consistency. He’ll wow you with some great throws, but the percentages aren’t there. Hopefully they will be, but the odds aren’t great.
  18. By not playing him in games the team is protecting itself from an injury to Clay that would prevent them from releasing him outright after the season.
  19. Actually one of my big criticisms of them this season was that they didn’t seem to alter their plan at all when they lost those two. I hate seeing the OL largely ignored. It would’ve been bad enough in a typical season, but it was inexcusable in a season where they were going to trot out a raw rookie to run a vertical passing game. A solid OL that could give him time and take pressure off of him by opening up the running game was the most important thing they could’ve done for Allen. But they had a plan to get their QB, their cornerstone LB and and fix the defense and they executed it despite the changing conditions of the offense. The lack of talent at WR didn’t help either. They’ve got to fix it this offseason.
  20. The network showed a stat on Belichick vs rookie QBs at home. The stats were brutal and he’s never lost to one as the Pats coach. No way should Allen have fared well today - and he sure didn’t. I just don’t see how anyone is saying otherwise.
  21. Allen had his worst game since coming back IMO. He was inaccurate way too often, he made some really bad decisions and he missed too many reads. His stats were helped by the garbage time QB drive. ESPN has him ranked second last in Total QBR this week with a 17 overall. Only Kessler is behind him. He was dead last in Unadjusted QBR.
