  1. His contract is up in Philly. There’s definitely a connection with McDaniels through Belichick. I know some people in Cleveland who are close to the team and they think that this is what is happening (though they don’t have anything concrete). It also makes you wonder about Daboll as OC. While I’m sure he’d want to stay close to family, I’m not sure where he stands with the Bills and he definitely has ties to McDaniels.
  2. I’d have been good with that. I won’t fault a GM for going with a well regarded big ugly at the top of the second though. I’d have taken Ford too. But as Metcalf fell to the bottom of the second round I’d have been happy to see them go get him. Heck, that’s a 3rd and 4th (or less). Not that I don’t like Singletary. I really do. Edit: When he fell so far I assumed it was due to his medicals (neck). Apparently that wasn’t the issue.
  3. Yeah, everyone knows that. What kind of loser calls heads? You call tails, and you call it LOUDLY. If you bring that weak ass under the breath tails shite you just give the refs a chance to Jerome Bettis you. Be a pro.
  4. Pick 22 fun fact: Most likely slot for Cleveland to overdraft a ***** QB prospect.
  5. I agree. Maybe McCarthy has grown in the last year, but I can’t help but think he’ll have the same issues as in GB. Also it feels a little like it’ll be Back to the Future for Dallas as I’m not sure he’ll modernize his offense to today’s NFL.
  6. Didn’t someone just post that she grew (up) from the last Twitter fiasco? Based on this I’d say that it sure doesn’t seem like it.
  7. Ugh. Poyer is a good starting safety, but he’s no Micah Hyde. I’d have no problem with a fair contract extension, but I wouldn’t want to overpay him just because we have a lot of cap room and he demanded it. Let’s hope they can work out a fair deal without theatrics.
  8. I’d argue that he is a fine WR with potential to be a game changer, but that you’re overstating his impact to date. He wasn’t even the most productive receiver on his team (though he had a very good season for a rookie). And it doesn’t change the risk-reward factor. High upside WRs who have big questions about their games generally fall out of the first round. Sometimes you get Juju Smith Schuster and sometimes you get Zay Jones - and more often than not it’s the latter. That why you don’t take prospects like that 9th overall, you take them later. I’m just going to leave it there.
  9. Oh, then I misunderstood. That’s my bad. Apologies.
  10. His neck injuries were definitely a concern to those of us without access to his medicals as you note. Even if that checked out I can’t believe that you’d consider him a safe pick. Elite speed and ability to outmuscle corners, yes. In spades. But coupled with suspect hands, terrible lateral agility and inexperience as a route runner he definitely carried a fair bit of risk. If we’d have flipped 74 and 96 for a late 2nd round pick and taken him, I’d have applauded it. But at 9, hell no. Incidentally, if he would’ve been our pick at 9 I don’t think we’d be looking at him nearly as favorably. A top 10 pick at WR should be a lock to be a dominant, game changing player. A quality WR, sure, but I don’t see top 10 pick. Incidentally Oliver was the best prospect I thought we’d have a chance to get at 9. The Simmons injury really put getting a top DT in jeopardy. I was ecstatic we got Oliver at 9. I had a clump if players rated similarly if he’d have gone at 8 and we couldn’t move back.
  11. The ability of fans to delude themselves is unreal. Now you’re adding this pretend slight to the list? Wow.
  12. I mentioned this in another thread. Specials rocked on Saturday. They were stellar.
  13. That’s fair. My concern is that the Bills only beat one team with a winning record this season - the Titians. Notably the Titans were still starting Marcus Mariota at the time. He went 2-4 in games started and then was benched for Tannehill. So were we 10-6 good? We were probably at that level or at least close to it. The Bills were a little above average, but definitely not well above. That fits with 10 wins and a competitive first round playoff exit. We’re going to have a tougher schedule next season so we’re going to need to improve just to stay at that record. It’s very possible with our resources to even do better than that. A lot will come down to Allen’s development though.
  14. Yes. Really. Metcalf was a risky pick not because he didn’t have a high ceiling, but because of the very real possibility that he would fail. People can play the hindsight game all they want, but he was who he was as a prospect. He was a supremely big, fast WR who lacked lateral agility and was very raw technically. You do not take such a player in the top 10 because the bust rate for that kind of player is high. Day 2? Have at it. To his credit he has worked very hard and has improved his route running a great deal.
  15. It’s worth mentioning that people were arguing whether to take Metcalf with our 9th overall pick. That was nuts. Many of us who didn’t want to see that would’ve been happy to have the Bills trade up into the back of the second round to grab him.
  16. I agree. Plus Specials shouldn’t be forgotten. Our third side of the ball had a tremendous game. As for Watson’s big play at the end of the game, he’s a top 10 QB in the league. Sometimes a player like that is going to make a Wow! play. The game should have been over in regulation - and it would’ve been if the offense had done its job.
  17. Excellent article. Thanks for posting.
  18. Allen did take a shot to the head on one of his runs in the game. I’ll have to look to see if the horrible decision making started after that. It would make a lot of sense. That’s the play I was thinking of. I was surprised he wasn’t checked out by the medical people after that.
  19. Yeah. As good as he looked in the first half, he choked big time after that. He’s young and learning. Hopefully he steps it up in crunch time. I’ve been a critic of his and he effed this one up, but even with that said I’m not totally down on him. It’s easy to forget how raw he was coming here. He’s done some great things and that makes you forget. Here’s hoping he grows from this. He deserves to be our QB next season so let’s finish building the team and see what he becomes in 2020.
  20. Kitchens was Dorsey’s pick. Depodesta wanted Stefanski (Vikings OC). Haslam went with Kitchens in large part because Mayfield liked him and gave him the thumbs up.
  21. Congratulations to Tre, he sure earned it.
  22. Wouldn’t it be nice if the world worked that way?
  23. The sports media is about clicks, eyes and ears. They’ll always run with hype on any team making splash moves - especially in the off season when they need all the material they can get.
  24. A lot will depend on the Texicans playing zone, as Romeo prefers. Josh has done well against that but has struggled against man coverage, especially with a strong rush. On the other side of the ball our DL needs to handle Houston’s poor OL and make things tough on Watson and the run game.
