  1. C+/B- is fair I think. Allen did enough to win in a game against a stellar defense where we had a +3 turnover margin. He had a few excellent throws, 10 or so good throws, 3 passes batted down (one of which was probably on Ford) and 10 or so throws that were not good. He had a nice TD run, a short, tough run for a first down and a really good run on 3rd and long that set up a chance to go for it on 4th (which we made on a completion to Brown). The pick was mostly on him - it was a high fastball. Beasley jumped and was fully extended and, sure, he gets paid well so it’d have been nice for him to have managed to pull it in, but it’s got to be a better throw especially if it’s a bullet. The 40 yard completion to Brown was underthrown and Brown made a great play. At first I thought it might’ve been back shoulder throw but watching the replay that should not have been the read. Brown was in front of and slightly outside of the DB while the throw was short and inside. That’s all on Allen. Then he throws a worse ball that Brown had to play defense on followed by one he has one batted down. Then he throws that dime to Kroft in the end zone for a TD. A perfect pass. So that’s Allen. A tough competitor who can wow you on one play and then make you wonder what the hell happened on the next. Or vice versa. If he becomes more consistent the sky really is the limit for him. He started out nicely against the Steelers, but things got really uneven for him after he rushed for the TD. I’m not sure what changed.
  2. A few years ago the phrase “Shut up, Chris!” became a saying in my house. It was said so many times during SNF that it became the go to phrase used when someone said something inane or ridiculously obvious. My kids, now 14 & 16, started that. (No, no one in the house is named Chris.). Sadly, it’s use has waned. It was hilarious.
  3. I still worry about his accuracy, but if this is where he’s at right now then he’s going to get some real time (through his option year) to settle in. And he’s definitely going to get some more help toward that end. A true #1 WR with size and speed, help at OT and probably an upgrade at TE are coming next season. This team can really become scary good.
  4. I did read where a Steelers teammate said that AB has never been the same since that hit.
  5. That was a very fair take. I’ve been extremely frustrated by the utter lack of any success against C1 & C0 and I’ve largely pinned that on Allen. The analysis looks solid - there’s things Allen needs to do better, but he’s doing a lot right and there’s a lot of blame to go around. The rollout against Earl Thomas was really interesting. I remember blaming Allen for that play because he left a clean pocket early and rolled into pressure. I’ll take being wrong there if it means Allen was doing right.
  6. Drop rate is usually calculated as drops/targets. That’s the main part of the difference. Also it looks like the OP tried to figure drops as a percentage of catchable balls, but calculated it as drops/catches instead of drops/(catches+drops).

  8. At this time of year all released players go through waivers.
  9. Yeah. I also think some of the better teams are doing their best to force the game into Josh’s hands. If he can make those teams pay, then the sky’s the limit for the Bills - especially considering our cap situation. It’d be a very sustainable team.
  10. Gotta be honest, I agree with this post from Eric Eager. With better play from Josh we’re Super Bowl contenders. Here’s hoping he steps up.
  11. That would be nice, but Goodell and the league will do everything possible to prevent specifics from becoming public. Two things matter to them: 1) Maintaining their authority. That means when they tell a team to stop doing something, that team obeys. This is where the Cheats could get hammered. It’s why they got hit hard for Spygate and it’s why the Saints got hit so hard for Bountygate. Both teams were told to stop and both kept doing them. That sure seems to be the case here. 2) Maintaining to the public that the league is beyond reproach. A big aspect of this is not allowing dirty laundry to become public - especially anything that could call into question the legitimacy of games. That’s a fine line to walk because they have to hammer teams like the Cheats while selling the public on the idea that the outcomes of games were not impacted - which really defies logic. Of course games were won due to cheating (and not just by the Cheats). So that’s where this sits. I have to think Goodell will come down hard on them if there’s something to this (and it looks like there is), but it might not all be done publicly. If this is Brady’s last season (and I’ve thought that it would be since he reworked his contract) maybe it’ll be Belichick’s too. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this swept under the rug if he agreed to retire. His other option might be a big fine and suspension that would hurt his legacy (and pocketbook) as well as the league’s reputation. Toss in the reality of a lost draft pick or two and a big fine and Kraft might be more willing to let it go too if that would be reduced to a modest fine. Maybe that is just wishful thinking, but this is bad PR for the NFL and a slap in the face to Goodell personally. Something is going to be done about it.
  12. It’s worth noting that their previous taping worked best against the less sophisticated teams. I got that from a big ESPN article on it. It kinda makes sense too. Most of the best teams still drop the occasional game to a lesser opponent. Except the Pats didn’t really seem to do that. That extra W a year really helps with home field advantage.
  13. Contrary to what’s typically said, there are stupid questions.
  14. it doesn’t hurt to speculate, but you’re right. This should wait until the Bills’ season is over.
  15. There are some crazy posts in this thread. If not for his injury Tua would be in consideration for the first overall pick. Talk of him being a day 3 pick is nuts. As for the Bills, so much depends on what the Bills think of Allen. Tua is already a much better prospect than he was though. That’s largely due to accuracy. Tua’s deep ball is fantastic. He also is willing and able to throw to spots that protect his receivers. Those are both issues with Allen’s game right now. Still, there’s three games plus postseason left this season for us to see of Allen is putting it together. The Bills staff obviously sees more Of him than we do and knows him better. The Bills do need help at OT, CB, WR, TE, Edge and more. But realistically the question boils down to whether you think Tua will be a better QB than Allen. That’s because no other position matters remotely as much. QB controversy or not, I’d pull the trigger on Tua without hesitation if he falls to us in the first. That’s based on what I’ve seen from him and where I see Allen now. I really don’t see Tua falling that far anyway.
  16. TW has another year left on his deal anyway. Not sure I’d want to give up a good pick on top of a big, new contract. Washington was ridiculous in their demands for him last season. They never came back to reality during negotiations with teams either. No thanks.
  17. 4 pages and no votes for Allen!?!? Crazy. But seriously. Now it’s Tyreek Hill. Previously it was James Harrison. Both are POS. Also I do not care for players like Aaron Hernandez and OJ who murdered people. And you can quote me on that.
  18. I wonder if it has to do with Yeldon’s pass blocking. Some here have said that he’s poor at it. Assuming that’s true, then you would not want him on the field much these days since most teams are blitzing the ***** out of Allen pretty much constantly.
  19. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/yearly/cap/ This is a nice breakdown by year for players and their salaries. You can see where the resources will flow for next season. Meanwhile, on to the Stiller’s.....
  20. To be fair, the Cheatriots are tuned into that frequency too. Funny related story. Apparently Hoyer (during his first stint with the Pats) accidentally got his helmet switched with Brady’s and noticed that the communication didn’t shut off at the 15 second mark of the play clock. Cheatriots gotta Cheatriot I guess.
  21. I’ve been a saying that “the Bills are a QB away”. I’ll allow that it still could be Allen that steps up and is that QB, but right now he’s not. He showed promise of that kind of growth in the previous three games, but can’t seem to handle the type of defense that he faced against the Pats, Browns and Ravens. If he can’t be effective against C0 and C1 with a lot of blitzing, then that’ll be mostly what he sees. Honestly I’m surprised when I’ve seen teams play heavy zone against him. It’s like they didn’t even bother to scout him or just went with what their usual scheme was rather than adapt to their opponent. Still, the good teams will adapt and that’ll be a problem in the playoffs unless something clicks with Josh. I’m happy that Daboll is still giving him the chance to do that. That’s the only way he has a chance to grow.
  22. I agree that we got some calls too. The refereeing is bad, not biased against us. It does have a lot to do with the league rules and what’s expected of the officials. Of course, missing 12 men on the field is inexcusable at this level so there’s that sort of thing happening too......
  23. I agree. Also I wouldn’t mind seeing the Bills lay a hit on him every time they could on ROs. Anytime that he could reasonably have the ball he should get leveled. I’d give up some early yardage to take his legs away. Let’s see how he does playing pocket QB.
  24. Yup. He may have hated the Patriots. He may have wanted like hell to beat them. He may have wanted to win games and even a Super Bowl. But he didn’t want any of that badly enough to actually put real time and effort into accomplishing it.
