  1. Not sure what he did. I certainly don’t condone illegal prostitution, but he could be on the registry for doing precisely what he was caught doing here as a oliciting prostitution can get a person on a sex offender registry. Or he could have done something much worse. Dunno.
  2. That is all correct. This year of the contract was obviously structured this was to force an extension before the season or let Dareus hit FA while he could still get one last big contract. Side note: Since this is the last year of the current CBA, the June 1st designation does not apply to any player - even those cut after 6/1. If a player is cut or traded it all hits this season.
  3. Teams are only supposed to use a tag with the intention of retaining the player, but there isn’t much to be done if the team makes an effort to do so. In this case the Jags clearly want to keep him even if he doesn’t want to be there.
  4. I agree. I have no problem trading high picks for young, proven talent. But there’s almost no way Carolina would want to trade him. The theoretical caveats to that - unreported serious injury, major locker room problems, looming suspension - would make me not want him.
  5. That makes no sense. You’re saying that you don’t want an elite quarterback because you never want to have to pay one. Too much fuss is made over paying franchise QBs. They’re well worth what they make. Teams have to draft well and be willing to swap out some expensive players at lesser positions, but that is far easier and much more preferable to finding another elite QB.
  6. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/tredavious-white-21768/market-value/ Spotrac estimates his market value at 5 years, $78M. That’d be the biggest contract for any CB. I say that he’s worth that. I’d do it as an extension, not a new deal. That would keep him here for 6 more seasons and keep the salary low this year, but he’d get his signing bonus a year early.
  7. You’re going to get murdered here for this because it’s been brought up and argued so often. You’ve been a member since ‘03 so I don’t think that you are trolling. I’d bet that you just occasionally visit here and didn’t see it before. Quick answer: Love Tre, he is a fantastic CB. Josh has great potential. But in this league you take a top 5 QB every time over those.
  8. scUM certainly dominated in the early years. Not so great recently, though. 2,991 days and counting since they beat tOSU.
  9. Saleh was not expected to be that serious of a candidate for the Browns HC position. His interview nearly got him the job. It was extremely close between Stefanski (who had the advantage of being Depodesta’s guy the previous year) and him. That guy is going to be a HC in the league very soon.
  10. Update: Haven’t eaten since last night. Still not hungry. And I worked out this morning.
  11. I don’t see the point in rehashing passing on Mahomes at this point. It’s been done to death. We should have drafted him. We didn’t. Arguing otherwise is ridiculous, but now everyone needs to move on. For the record some of us were calling for the Bills to draft Mahomes. I sure was and I was pissed off when they traded out and let the Chiefs have him. I wanted the Bills to take him - or failing that, the Browns (who I also root for) to trade up for him. Watching neither get him was a bad as watching the Browns trade out with the Bills for Sammy Watkins and both passing on Khalil Mack.
  12. Reid certainly moved up a tier in coaching hierarchy with this win. If he never got the SB win he’d be sitting in the Marty Schottenheimer tier.
  13. That’s a hell of a stat. Wow. ? I looked them up and I didn’t realize that the Chiefs are the only one of the four that didn’t pop their championship cherry this year. Again. Wow. Sure beats seeing the Warriors, Pats/Steelers, Penguins and Yankees/Red Sox win yet another title.
  14. OMG I’m still so stuffed. I feel like I barely ate and I’ve been uncomfortably full since before the opening kickoff.
  15. I live in Williamsville. Prices are up 20-25% from when we bought 7.5 years ago. Homes are not on the market long if they’re priced reasonably.
  16. Why? He’s certainly a proficient runner now. Being a marginally better runner isn’t going to make or break him as a pro QB, his passing is. He should spend his time working on that.
  17. Our contribution to the party we are attending: KC: Baby back ribs, smoked over cherry, with spice rub and KC style sauce SF: Clam chowder with sourdough bread and Anchor Steam beer We have been waiting on a Costco in Buffalo, but no dice yet. Closest ones are in Rochester and across the border.
  18. I agree, Bar Bill has always been on point for wings and beef on weck. Possibly the best I’ve had. My daughter touts Gabriel’s Gate’s wings as her favorite. Not a bad choice either. I haven’t been to the new Bar Bill location on Main in Clarence yet tho. Too crowded so far. One thing I heard from one of the Gate owners (Bill) is that you can’t expect wings to stay crispy if you put them in a carry out container. He hates it when people complain about that. Eat them in the restaurant!
  19. Don’t feel bad for the Falcons. The article talked about the team reselling PSLs that we’re defaulted on or given up by non-renewal of season tickets, but I want to drive the reality of that home. The selling point of a PSL is that the people who attend the games pay more toward the stadium. That’s fine. It makes sense. But only a single sale of each PSL is on the ledger to offset the cost of building the stadium. So it actually pays to have a team that fluctuates between winning and losing over time. That’s because the PSLs sell out when the team does well. Then when it does poorly people can’t sell their PSLs and they have to chose between forfeiting them or continuing to buy season tickets that they otherwise would not buy. Either way the team comes out ahead. They’re selling more tickets than they should in down years and they get to resell the forfeited PSLs. They also get to sell the tickets attached to forfeited PSLs while they wait on new buyers. It’s a horrible racket. I got taken once. Never again.
  20. Buffalo: Tough to get people to move to it and tough to get people to leave. A lot gets made of income tax, but many players also look at cost of living. You can live like a king in Buffalo for what you can barely scrape by on in places like SF.
  21. Yeah. He had like a week before the season started and had to use the garbage scheme that got the original OC fired. That one really wasn’t on AVP.
