  1. Removed “Browns” from pants, eliminated orange jerseys and pants (though orange pants could be considered old school) and changed striping, numbers and socks to more old school look. Too true! Unless new unis are hideous or replacing ones that were hideous, I’m surprised anyone actually cares. I mean, it’s the offseason and I get that nothing is going on, but still.
  2. I just watched the Auburn game film of him. I can see your point. What are you seeing? It is not by any chance shades of Barkevious Mingo, is it? Also I think he’d be better off as a 3-4 OLB than a 4-3 DE.
  3. Me too. It looks like what the Browns should be wearing. Now was definitely not the time to try something new again.
  4. OBJ is set to make about $3M more per year for the next 4 years than Diggs is. Injured in 2017, crap teams the last two seasons and played with an injury all last season. He still broke 1k the last two seasons, but you’re probably right that the Browns wouldn’t exactly be selling high right now. It really wouldn’t make any sense for them to try and trade him for less than a first plus and if they’re not getting that then why trade him? Healthy and in a decent offense he’s a top 5 WR. They’re way better off seeing if he can become that again. Absolutely correct on the Browns going LT very early. Beyond any offensive scheme considerations, there’s a gaping hole there right now. Unless Washington comes around on compensation for Trent Williams and they get a deal done there, it’ll be OT either at 10 or with a trade back. The only other stop gap available to them is Jason Peters and they’d still have to draft someone early to take over when he gets injured again.
  5. Not happening for that, especially considering what Diggs just netted in trade. As for Harris, he’d probably be a necessary component of any trade for a highly paid player. Minny could not fit a player like OBJ under their cap without dropping his salary in the process. The “source” is probably a mock draft (CBS?) that had OBJ to Minny for a future 2 & 5. Also the Browns have been trying to get a hold of Harris, but no dice thus far on that front.
  6. Went back to a more traditional look. Basically a slightly updated version of what they used to be.
  7. I dunno. I can’t imagine that it’s anything significant.
  8. Good to know. My friend did say that if it was about a player that other people would have the info. (Guess I inferred the part about Glazer not having player contacts.) He said if Glazer was willing to sit on something for a whole day then it’s probably a league thing since he’d have access and others wouldn’t so he wouldn’t be worried that others would scoop him.
  9. I usually start with Defensive DVOA. it is not perfect, but they do well to weed out a lot of noise and focus on what is meaningful. I like that they take the situation into account on each play. Too often yardage given up and points against are skewed by game situations like garbage time.
  10. Someone I know who’s dialed to the NFL said that Glazer’s contacts are with the league, but not so much with players and agents. He has no idea what the announcement is. Should be league-related though. Possibly something like Goodell officially announcing that he’ll retire after the season, which would not exactly be breaking news.
  11. Clowney has made a decision? Might be something along those lines. Time for situations like that, Trent Williams and Nigel Bradham to resolve. Crunch time for the draft is almost upon us.
  12. Certainly would not announce that before the draft. No need to take any steam away from that.
  13. His Combine performance really showed off his athleticism issues. 15th percentile SPARQ score (17th adjusted SPARQ). I find it difficult to believe that teams ever considered him a first round prospect. He looks slow on tape. Even on his highlights he doesn’t look fast, regardless of the competition. After seeing that I wanted no part of him at 22. I don’t know if I’m all that interested at 54 either. He’s so strong, but he’s just not quick at all. He’d be a great DE to have to set the edge, but I don’t know how much of a pass rush he’ll give in the NFL.
  14. Likely this. They could probably also give 54, 86 and next year’s 2nd. It’s steep from 54 to get back in. I can’t think of a player we’d want to package with picks to make it happen either.
  15. So it’s pronounced “Eva”?
  16. I’d love to participate. My preference would be: 1. Browns 2. Dolphins 3. Bengals 4. Ravens 5. Raiders Thanks for running this!
  17. At this point I would be very surprised if Darnold and Allen become the two best of that class, but that can be for another thread. As for Mayfield being a finished product, you’re kidding, right? While he was more of a finished product than Allen, he came from a spread offense that didn’t even put him under center. Two days into training camp his OC remarked that he’d lined up under Center more in those two days of practice than he did in three seasons in college. And yeah, Allen does get a break for coming into the league as raw as he did. He should. I hated seeing him put on the field in his rookie year, especially with such a poor supporting cast around him. Maybe it worked out as a learning experience, but I’d have rather seen him improving things like his arm mechanics and footwork first. To his credit he has made big improvements on both, though neither is a finished product yet. But he still looks undeveloped in making reads, accuracy and ball security. Other QBs coming out of college still have to develop in some areas. That’s pretty normal. But coming into the league Allen had more on his plate than other first round QBs in that regard. That doesn’t mean that he can’t do it. It does mean that it would be reasonable for it to take him a little longer though. My fear with Allen is that his progression stops. As long as I see him improving I’ll be happy. I make a habit of looking at that kind of thing in blocks of 4 games during the season which keeps me from overreacting to any single game. So I’ll see what he looks like through the quarter turn of this season and go from there.
  18. I don’t want to get in this argument too deeply, but it’s worth noting that players and their situations should be looked at the same way. Allen gets a lot of leeway for coming into the league so raw, for not having a #1 WR last season and for the total crap show he was thrown into in his rookie season. That’s all fair. Daboll takes a lot of blame too. IMO too much gets attributed to him though. It is equally fair to look at Mayfield’s situation. Him having Landry and OBJ last season gets brought up a lot, but both played injured the whole season which doesn’t. He had a terrible set of OTs and got put into a scheme that exposed them terribly. It didn’t exactly fit him either. He also had a god awful HC calling plays. If you see the replay of Bills v Browns or any other Browns game from last season check out the first dozen or so plays versus the rest. The early plays are scripted and the OC installed them and they were practiced. It’s a whole different team and QB there. After that they’re a mess because Kitchens was calling the plays. And we aren’t even talking about all of the upheaval and changes Mayfield saw in his rookie season. All of that is fair to include in his evaluation too. Honestly it’s pretty pointless to compare Allen and Mayfield at this time. Allen was so raw that we don’t know where he’s going to top out at. It’s fair to see his development and be encouraged that it’ll continue. Let’s watch and see how that works out. As for Mayfield, it’s also fair to wait and see if he gets some stability around him before passing judgement.
  19. Yeah, I know. Wow. Replacing Thomas was exactly what I was thinking for Delpit. Thomas looked pretty done last season and that defense was fantastic. Imagine it with Delpit back there instead.
  20. His contested catch ability reminds of a friend of mine who pitched in college. “I had a great move to first base. The problem was I needed it.” He did not separate well. If Dubois is sufficiently athletic enough to play in the NFL I could see him finding success as a Big Slot WR paired with an accurate QB though. Just from the clips on the link you can see that he’s a heady player who will be able to find soft spots in zones. If the QB can put the ball on the money when he’s in man, then he’ll be open there as well. It’s too bad he didn’t get that Combine invite because that could’ve answered the questions about his athleticism - and now there’s no Pro Days. Knowing the answer to that would determine if he’s draftable in the late rounds or not. Still, I’m sure teams will want to take a look at him.
  21. Dunno man. I see them both as big - and pretty close to equivalent - needs this year. It’s not a great year for DEs in the draft either so I can see better value sitting there at CB for us. I’d certainly be okay with either position at 54 as both need some young talent added.
  22. I can see your point and I do expect the Bills to take one somewhere. But there should still be WRs available as UDFAs who would have been very draftable players in most years. So even if it shakes out where we don’t draft one there’s still some hope.
  23. It’s difficult to see a fit here for Delpit. I get that he’s talented and that he played through injury last season. But the getting a safety early (and with that much draft capital) would have to mean that we’d be in Big Nickel most of the time and want 3 on the field most of the time. Someone to edge us closer to a positionless back 7 would make sense. But how does taking a guy who could be a stud centerfielder make that happen? Anyone comfortable with Poyer moving to the Big Nickel spot? He’d be the best bet and I don’t love it. It sure couldn’t be Delpit anytime soon with his tackling issues. I see Delpit as a fit for C2 or C1 teams. His range is just too good to put elsewhere. I know we play those looks, but as a C3 team I just don’t see using a lot of draft capital on a player like him. Honestly I can see the Ravens taking him in the first. He’s exactly their kind of player and the kind of pick they’d make.
  24. How far up do you think #54 and a mid rounder will get us? To get back into the first round it would cost us 54 and next year’s first. Even 54 and 86 would only get us to 38 per the usual trade chart. I highly doubt we’d do any better than that in this draft as early round two is a pretty sweet spot. https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp?RequestTeam=Buf
  25. I would totally be on board with that one. Might be my favorite yet. Also the red helmet with the white standing buffalo would make a cool throwback. As you can probably tell, I am partial to the old school style buffalo.
