  1. Yeah. And the reality is that the worst case scenario with Diggs is that he goes off on Allen. But that’s only going to happen if Allen plays poorly. In that case, so what? The season is lost and we’d have bigger problems with the team. But if Allen plays well, then Diggs should be a happy camper and he can help elevate the team. Diggs might amplify a good or bad situation, but he’s not going to create either all by himself.
  2. Diggs for a one and change plus his contract versus Lamb for a one and two on a rookie deal. It’s debatable depending on a team’s circumstances, but I prefer the Diggs trade. It isn’t the picks involved, it’s the certainty of getting a top end WR on day 1 that matters to me. There’s risk and development time with Lamb and I’ll happily take on the additional contract dollars for the immediacy and certainty. Still, it wasn’t really a choice between the two since the decision on Diggs had to be made long before the draft.
  3. Minny looked into trading up to get Lamb, but Atlanta (picking right before Dallas) demanded their first and second. I’d have done that in a heartbeat for Lamb if we hadn’t traded for Diggs, but there’s no good reason he should’ve fallen that far. He was only still on the board because the Raiders were stupid enough to take Ruggs at 12 over every other WR in the draft. SMDH
  4. It’s worth noting that Brees played his senior season with a torn muscle in his back. A young (at the time) engineer I used to work with told me about it. His g/f whom he later married was one of Brees’ trainers at Purdue. Apparently it was a huge issue for him that season and it prevented him from throwing naturally. IMO injury risk is by far the biggest reason to worry about Tua’s success in the NFL. I agree with you on that. But it’s actually a bit of a parallel with Brees rather than a big difference.

  6. Agree on Ford. People are getting way ahead of themselves. He was a rookie last year. Give him a chance to develop. Maybe he will and maybe he won’t, but give him a chance. As for Kroft, he was a horrible signing with a ridiculous contract. We’re pretty much stuck with him for 2020 though. Let’s hope he at least sees the field. Knox had some flashes, but I’m not sold on him yet either. He’s a lot like Ford though. Sophomore season in 2020. Let’s see how he develops.
  7. Yeah, they’re similar. I’m not sold on Allen by any means, but I definitely give him a solid edge over Lock.
  8. That’s reasonable.
  9. I see The Endowment Effect is strong in this thread. Realistically Allen is still unproven enough that he has not yet earned a second contract so I’m discounting longevity concerns with other QBs. I’d trade him for a number of others, including those still going strong at the end of their careers. For an extreme example, give me two seasons of Brees where I know we will be in the mix for a SB and I run with it. I’ll take that near guarantee of top end QB play over the possibility of Allen improving enough to do that. And I don’t know what to say to anyone still taking Allen over Watson after watching how they both played down the stretch of the playoff game. I get the optimism for Allen, but every fan base has that for their young QB too. Except Bears fans for Trubisky. That ship has sailed. Try to take emotion out of the equation and you’ll see that there is a lot to like about some of the other QBs out there.
  10. They know that this is a developmental year. Sure the Phins will try to win every game, but realistically they’re just aiming to be competitive and to get a couple more wins than last year. The QB situation is what it usually is in such situations. There’s a bridge QB and a guy they hope will be the future. Tua will get his chance at some point.
  11. I’m both happy and sad for you too
  12. Used to be Kyle, then Lorax and now it’s Tre.
  13. Yeah, but the Pats* were playing the Steelers in Primetime in two weeks and RATINGS!(Read: MONEY!)
  14. I always assumed he went for the weakest point in the pipe, like where it was most corroded. He only had so many hits with the rock.
  15. Own the DVDs. Still one of my absolute favorite cinematic endeavors. I usually include it on my top 10 favorite movies list even though it’s a miniseries. I really enjoyed watching it with my teenage son, who loved it.
  16. That is incorrect. Forward movement of the ball is not necessary. Here is the rule: NFL passing rules See Article 1, Section 1. The play was properly officiated. Edit: Billl, you best me to it!
  17. It’s not out of the question. Donkeys defense is stacked with the exception of their CBs. If they get good play from them, then they are by no means a gimmie. Of course, their QB is Drew Lock and they have some other issues on O, so it’s certainly a game we SHOULD win.
  18. They could calculate it based on what percentage of the time a player plays which position. Over 75% of time at one position, that’s what you get. Closer than that to even and you get the 50/50 split. I don’t know how they’re going to differentiate between a slot WR and a split TE other than to make that a position in and of itself.
  19. I think so. I know that it happened once before with the Ravens too. I think it was Suggs who was playing DE and OLB. He got the average of the two positions in the end.
  20. I’m sorry. Glad you had that time with him though.
  21. I value their opinions because they’re unbiased, always trying to improve their processes and - believe it or not - employ people with strong football backgrounds to do their film work. That said, I do understand that they have their flaws. The offer me something much more logic based than the player special interest stories and lazy, biased stuff I see most of the time. They get a ton of grief on here because they’ve never liked Allen and many people here have an emotional reaction to that. They’d be darlings if the Bills has drafted a QB they loved. But the funny thing is, I’ve hear the PFF guys say flat out that if Allen were to do well and prove them wrong, they’d have to figure out how to adjust their models. And that’s what I really like about them. They are willing to admit when they are wrong about stuff and then they try to fix that. On here I watched a lot of people defend Tyrod Taylor through his last game as a Bill. Logic and facts be damned, everything was ultimately everyone else’s fault. Until he got traded away and then the same people said he was trash. I’m not saying you fit into that group, but it’s tough for me to have a lot of respect for the opinions of posters like that.
  22. I heard the full discussion on their podcast.
  23. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2020/01/stefon-diggs-vikings-saints-nfc-wild-card-helmet-cousins-tantrum https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2019/10/3/20897444/minnesota-vikings-stefon-diggs-trade-rumors-kirk-cousins-adam-thielen Here are a couple things that happened with him last season. For the record, I was still a big supporter of the trade. Making it was no brainer for the Bills IMO. Great move. But my only caveat was that it does carry some risk due to how things went with Diggs and Cousins. Still, you make that deal. This stuff was the only reason he was available at all.
  24. I have been to about a half dozen at the Ralph. Two in Cleveland and would’ve been at the Pittsburgh game last season if it hadn’t been flexed to the night game.
  25. That’s not what they actually said. It was a devil’s advocate argument where one guy had to come up with a reason that the Steelers would win the Bills-Steelers game that week. He said that all he could come up with was that Duck had played a little better than Allen the last couple of weeks. But don’t let that stop a convenient narrative.
