  1. That’s a fair point you bring up. We wouldn’t know if he’s playing through an injury. That’s the only legitimate excuse for his play. If he’s not, then it was a terrible signing. The sooner we move on, the better. Just cut our losses.
  2. Agreed. I do think he was miscast here. He’d have been a fit in the offense NE was running, but not ours so much. Right now he would be vying for the 5th spot because Davis would have the 4th. If that’s where you are at this point - especially as a 2nd round pick - then it’s time to move on from that player.
  3. The Ravens lost to the #1 team so it’s pretty defensible. Okay, they got spanked at home by KC. But still. And rankings don’t mean a thing. Just win.
  4. I’m not sure why the vast majority of NFL KOs aren’t through the end zone. Unless there is a special circumstance I just don’t see the benefits outweighing the negatives. In today’s NFL starting a team on the 15 versus the 25 is pretty meaningless, fumbles are very rare and a big return is a huge momentum swing. Possibly. It depends on what he was told to do. I think a lot of teams outsmart themselves and get too cute with kickoffs.
  5. I’ve got Game Pass and I’ll watch a lot of games on condensed or coaches film (all 22). The condensed is great because it eliminates the banter from between the whistle and snap. Plus you wan watch a whole game in 40 minutes or so. The all 22 has no sound. It’s serene. Usually about 90 minutes and you see every play twice (different camera angles). Put on music, talk about the game with a friend or just watch in peaceful silence. Either is so much better than the regular broadcast. I watch regular broadcasts live on Sunday, but usually watch other games in those formats during the week even if MNF or TNF are on live.
  6. Not for nothing, but it really is. If we were 2-2 I’d be pissed off if Allen was fine with it. I’d want him to be angry about those two losses. I don’t love Carr as a QB, but that’s the right attitude.
  7. I get why some people don’t want to hear that, or have their kids hear it. But I’d watch games hearing only the field sounds every game if I could. No fan noise, no announcers - just audibles, line calls, defensive adjustments and expletive infused trash talking. Bliss.
  8. Or maybe now that Allen has improved as a passer (and mad props to him for that), Daboll doesn’t need him to run as much in order to be successful. If Allen keeps this up 🤞Daboll is going to be a serious HC candidate this offseason.
  9. When Bass made the tackle I literally said “I guess that makes up for the extra point he just missed.” It really shows why a player can never hang his head and worry about a past play. He’s got to shake it off and be fully ready for the next one.
  10. So sorry. It’s a tough day for sure.
  11. Yup. The real scouts knew who Allen was. He was as exceptionally talented as he was raw as a prospect. The odds of QB prospects like that working out are low, but they aren’t zero. And I have harped on this before - rarely are they as raw as Allen was. Drafting him was a reasonable risk considering his position and his upside. I doubt I’d have had the guts to take a risk on him at 7 (though I wouldn’t have had all of the information that NFL teams get), but it sure looks good right now.
  12. CB in round one, TE in round two is my hope. CB is always a need and we could use another stud. Plus the really good ones are very expensive on the FA market. TE is just a need and not many good ones make it to FA. We all saw what Hooper got because he was basically it in FA.
  13. That has irked me in the past too. But the reality of the situation is that the almighty dollar is always going to be the first priority with businesses as big as the NFL. The league doesn’t want the refs to look like they determine the outcome of games because that’s bad for business - and the refs know that. That’s why whistles get swallowed at the end of most games, and the bigger the game the more that holds true. I’ve just accepted that. My issues are more with teams that I believe get favored treatment for one reason or another, but that’s a rabbit hole I don’t want to go down now.
  14. Why would they do this!? For ratings and MONEY!? The NFL!? Inconceivable! ** And let us not forget that this season will be an important benchmark for the new television contracts so it will have an outsized impact on the NFL revenue stream.
  15. On the PI I said “Wow, you don’t always get that flag, especially at this point in this kind of a game.” so it did feel a little bit like a make up call to me. And I’ll take that.
  16. Totally agree. Get that POS off the wall tho.
  17. This is a very important factor IMO. I got hammered here last season when I posted that while I believed that we had a very good defense, that it wasn’t being stressed like many due to teams employing more conservative game plans. That’s because our offense was not scoring a lot in most games and teams weren’t being as aggressive (with higher risk-reward plays) as they have to be against teams with higher scoring offenses. The relatively easy schedule last season played into this. Now it sure looks like teams will have to open up their offenses because we are scoring a lot more. Let’s hope the defense adapts well, but even if it does we can still expect higher variance in game to game performance. That’s because sometimes that higher risk-reward goes one way and sometimes it goes the other. Only so much to be done about that in a league so skewed towards the offense. It goes beyond game planning too. The better QBs know they have to take more risks in situations when their team is behind or when they know they need a lot of points to win. The nerds actually track that and QBs like Brees and Brady follow the “point differential and time left” versus “riskiness of throw” curve beautifully. It makes sense. Take more and more chances the further behind you are and the later in the game it is. Or be more and more conservative the further ahead you are and the later in the game it is. So we should see some wilder games this season compared to last. It should be fun and I’m excited.
  18. Agree with Minny and Cowboys. Please scratch the Jags and Duck led Steelers. Had the Steelers fielded a QB who should’ve been playing in the NFL, that’s not a W for the Bills.
  19. That’s a fair question. Gilliam played H back in college (albeit at a small school) so he has experience. Unproven at the NFL level? Sure. Incapable at the NFL level? Dunno yet. Let’s give him a chance first.
  20. Too obvious, but I appreciate the effort
  21. Toe. Did not practice. https://www.google.com/amp/s/billswire.usatoday.com/2020/09/23/buffalo-bills-los-angeles-rams-injury-report-tremaine-edmunds-matt-milano/amp/
  22. I disagree. They are pretty damn even. Both are serviceable starters, but are replaceable. Both have reasonable (or better) contracts, are in their late 20s and are signed past this season: - Spain is 29, making $5M AAV and is signed through 2022 - Feliciano is 28, making $3.6M AAV and is signed through 2021 Spain is simply the kind of guy that a team can roll with if it is convenient or necessary, but who generally gets replaced by a cheaper/younger/better player. I would expect that to happen this offseason or next. Feliciano is a little younger and cheaper so I’d expect him to stick around as depth. If Feliciano takes over Spain’s spot this season then it’s pretty much over for him here.
  23. Probably a fair assessment I’ve said that and been proven wrong too often. Things can always get worse.
