Blaming the loss primarily on the defense is weak. They gave up TD drives of 16, 30, 90, 12, 75 and 18 yards. Three Titans drives started inside the red zone and one at our 30. I’m not saying that the defense shouldn’t have forced some FG attempts or played better, but the offense (and Specials) did them no favors. Oh and let’s not ignore the fact that the offense was only missing Brown while the defense was missing its two starting CBs and Milano while playing against a team that forces defenses to stack the box and play man on the outside. The defense still deserves some blame, but there is a lot to go around.

Especially for RBs. That stat really illustrates the point.

Dunno, man. I understand a player betting on himself and don’t begrudge them that, or looking to make as much as they can while they can. As for Bell, he’s played in 32 games from 2017 until now and made $40M in that time. He went to the Jets so it was about the money and he’s done well in that regard.

He’s got a $2.5M roster bonus due in two days per Spotrac. That makes this really an odd situation in that mid-season roster bonuses like this are very rare (first I’ve ever seen). They can part ways with him for nothing. I guess they are just seeing if anyone will give them something for him before they release him, which is doubtful.

Yes, because that’s all those coaches ever did. Lol. Come on, man. There is so much crap that goes on. And thinking one coach who pulls something like Vrabel did isn’t a good coach because he put his team above the league is pretty laughable. That’s how these guys roll when money like this is on the line. You don’t think he got the most out of his team?

Of course, because none of us could think of any HOF coaches that bent or broke the rules to get an advantage.

The Titans are very well coached. So are the Bills, but no one should ever look past a well coached team.

I can. This is mostly hindsight talking. There were a lot of fans enamored with Metcalf but NFL GMs were not nearly to the same extent. He wasn’t a complete enough prospect for a top 10 pick - and it wasn’t close. That’s why he was a day 2 pick, which is where he belonged. That’s because for every 10 players like him - WRs that are great at some aspects and deficient at others - one works out like him, a few contribute and have nice careers and the rest flame out. I thought that Metcalf might’ve been the pick instead of Ford and I definitely thought he’d be our pick in the 3rd if he lasted that long. I was surprised that as he fell through round two that we didn’t make move up for him. As a prospect he was well worth that, but his flaws and associated risk meant no good GM was touching him close to the top 10.

I don’t see a forfeit happening either, but the NFL is not effing around here. If things get out of hand and this happens with other teams, then it could hit the NFL hard in the pocketbook. That’s a very big no-no. So I was thinking more along the lines of some stiff fines/suspensions and lost draft picks. The message will be clear: Everyone get in line and don’t F up our cash flow, I mean, season.

There are many here who love to put all/most of the offense’s past problems on his shoulders. But the truth is that while he hasn’t been perfect, he’s been pretty badly hamstrung up until this season. First it was a trash OL and a rookie QB who was by no means ready for the NFL (and should not have been put behind that line). My criticism of Daboll that season would be his part in jettisoning McCarron and allowing Peterman to take the field. Last season the offensive line and skill positions took a big step forward, as did Allen. Unsurprisingly Daboll looked better too. This season the OL is solid, the skill positions are above average (led by a stellar WR corps) and he has a QB who is playing like he has arrived (knock on wood). So yeah, Daboll is now showing what he can do with talent in place. He’s a very good OC and he’s going to get looks as a HC if the Bills continue to be successful on offense. That is a disadvantage when your HC is a defensive guy. In today’s NFL offensive minds are in demand and OCs who run good offenses will get snatched up. We will just have to find another good one if Daboll moves on up somewhere else. At least that means we are having success.

It is a 3 year, $15M deal or effectively a $5.75M one year deal. The latter would tie him for 26th among OGs (or he’d be at 33rd at $5M AAV with the former). Spotrac OG AAV here. That’s a pretty obvious overpay for a guy who just got shuffled to the bench or was a pretty marginal starter. I can accept that Beane overpaid him to keep continuity on the line and ensure we had good IOL depth, but he still overpaid by about double. But in the end it’s only $2M-$3M in cap space and that isn’t going to have a big impact on the team so I’m not going to belabor the point any further. The real tragedy for the Bills is that they paid Spain and traded away Teller.

People shouldn’t sleep on Fields. There will be more than one QB prospect teams will be going after in this draft.

Yeah, I get what they did. It just seemed like a lot of money for what we were getting with him. I get that the payout wasn’t that huge, but who else was going to give him that kind of contract? He’s exactly the kind of player on the kind of contract that gets churned off of a roster by a younger, cheaper player.

As much as I loved what Beane did with Dawkins and Tre, I scratched my head about the Spain contract.

This is why extending Dawkins had to be the #1 priority this past offseason. Imagine having to find a LT on top of a RT and another OG. Yes, we could have tagged Dawkins, but that would’ve dramatically increased his contract. Beane did very well.

I have watched some of Rodgers All-22. He’s playing amazingly. For contrast I watched some Packers-Vikings. Cousins is atrocious so Rodgers looks absolutely divine in comparison. His play is ridiculous.
