  1. Not lack of evidence. Loophole in MN law. It stated that a person could not be charged with rape or sexual assault if the victim was “willingly intoxicated” at the time of the incident. Law was changed two years later, in 2021.
  2. That’s as illogical an argument as I could imagine. Just because something hasn’t been done before certainly doesn’t mean it can’t be. We see firsts all the time. Hell, our elite franchise QB is a unicorn. No QB drafted anywhere close to top 10 ever made the leap he has. Also I don’t see a lot of details here. WRs and QBs who’ve both gotten paid large for their times and the salary cap’s at the time have won it all. But apparently that was too long ago to count. So since when? And while you are at it, how much is too much to pay those positions? I think this whole illogical rationale is based on two things: 1) The Chiefs have dominated the SB wins without paying a WR so people want the Bills to copy that. But the Chiefs are a cheap organization. They have had to be frugal compared to some other teams. That they could do so well with that disadvantage makes what they’ve done even more impressive. It’s worth pointing out that even though they won the Super Bowl last year with a wide receiving corps that was below par they went ahead and revamped it for this year. 2) The Bills traded away Diggs and have built their WR corps that way this season. I didn’t see anybody posting about this while we had Diggs on the team and were paying him. It’s reactionary and it’ll evaporate if the Bills pay a WR next offseason.
  3. Thank you and no worries. And apologies to @Putin for singling him out in this thread. My frustration was more toward seeing that same thing posted over and over on this board.
  4. Then I recommended just calling out those people specifically because making sweeping, general statements like that does not come off well.
  5. But it’s not true. It’s just you and some others deciding that people that don’t agree with you are bad people simple because they don’t agree with you. The alternative would be to believe that they’re (by and large) reasonable people who see things differently. Or even simply that they’re decent people who are wrong about something. Reflexively assuming someone has bad character simply because they disagree with you says a lot more about you than it does about them.
  6. Such a petty and small minded sentiment I see posted here so often. It’s sad.
  7. Teams with elite players are smart to get deals done early. The Eagles do this consistently. Everyone complains about it when it happens, but after the rest of the contracts get done they’re already 5 or 6 spots down the list. As for the sustainability of paying a QB and WR top dollar, the Eagles show that it can be done as they have two WRs and a QB all paid ear top of market. I do expect that they drop to one WR soon though. The catch is that it is only possible with an owner willing to spend and quality FO. That allows the team to structure deals aggressively and outspend most other teams. The “nobody has done it yet” argument is weak. You mean recently because historically teams have done it. The numbers just weren’t as big as they are today. Also the Eagles were one bad call away from being in position to do it. If you want another example, look at the Browns. They’re paying Watson large and have not gotten much in return. Yet they made the playoffs fielding QBs that were nobodies and a washed up QB off the street. Why? Same as the Eagles. They’re spending and finding quality players. Their roster is outstanding top to bottom - with the possible exception of their QB.
  8. Same thought. Mahomes 1 - check. Allen -2 cool, happy with the respect! Burrow - 3 sure, if healthy. Stroud - 4 sure looked it in his one season so maybe a bit early, but okay. Caleb Williams - 5 Monther ****er, this guy’s an idiot!
  9. Gabe Davis - was great for a backup, but not so great as a starter (overall).
  10. If his one arm power rush is not his most commonly used technique, it’s gotta be close. Watch the video. Educate yourself. Also I said he could win with power, not that he was strictly a power rusher. Don’t put words in my mouth.
  11. Sure. Everyone has their thing - or things. TT is certainly welcome to indulge his. I just can’t imagine how far down the list sneaker shopping is for me though. I went shopping with the wife and our daughter two nights ago. I got a pair of jeans and a hat and I’m burned out on clothes shopping for the next month.
  12. lol. that couldn’t be further from the truth. Miller’s one arm power technique is also a signature move of his. Without it he would not be able to use his ghost move effectively. Here is some further explanation:
  13. Von Miller was a freak. He could win with speed, power, technique (i.e. ghost move) and even bend. I hope he has recovered well and has something left in the tank, but three of those are likely impacted by this injury and his age. I don’t know of a single instance of an athlete in a similar situation making a quality comeback. Again, he’s a freak. So if I had to put money on someone doing so, it’d be him. And if he does come back to anything close to his old form, let’s not undersell that. It would be a very difficult and unique accomplishment by him.
  14. Honest question: Is there a reason you think that or is it just hoping for the best?
  15. It was this statement of yours that I was responding to: ”It's still there physically, just mentally it's holding him back.” I doubt that it’s there physically anymore.
  16. Seems like big, physical WRs may have real value on KOs now. I can see Shorter making the team as WR7 for that.
  17. It is legit exhausting to me just thinking about filling those closets with shoes.
  18. He’s 35. Rounding back into his old form after that injury would be beating some incredible odds.
  19. Not really. A bobbled or fumbled snap resulting in a block or failure to get a punt off (therefore on the punter), a shanked punt resulting in field position that gives opponent a score or a mishandled snap/hold on a FG/XP can all do it. Job 1 for a punter is avoiding those mistakes.
  20. Agree on the cap and roster mismanagement. I am not a believer in Dak so I would’ve moved on already. I can’t blame them if they just take their lumps and cut bait after another disappointing year. Lamb is a stud tho. I think they have to pay him - or use him to acquire a FQB. It is worth noting that their coaching has been pretty horrific too. They’ve had some amazing talent that they could not win with. Between that and playoff Dak they squandered some great opportunities.
  21. One difference between JJ vs Adams and Hill were their contract situations at the times of their respective signings. JJ got his while still having to play on his 5th year option. Hill got his as part of the big trade and Adams had just been tagged a second time. That difference in leverage probably factored in. I think I’m remembering all of that correctly. I think some people react emotionally to these dollars rather than looking at them more clinically. Also some haven’t dug into the economics of it all. The NFL and owners are making tremendous amounts of money, the players are getting their negotiated share and those enormous dollars are allocated primarily to the biggest difference makers. That’s just how the economics works. A long time ago I had a graduate level econ class. My prof’s specialty was the economics of MLB/baseball. It happened to be during the last MLB work stoppage. I learned so much about how the economics of baseball works versus the other leagues like the NFL. Those are the teo most different leagues so they were his usual examples.
  22. I listen to the Over The Cap’s podcast sometimes. It’s definitely not for everyone, but there are some great insights. About a month ago the host was talking about Jefferson’s contract. That the Vikings would want a longer extension of 5 years and JJ would want 3. Then he talked about the AAV for those deals before concluding that the best compromise might be something like a 4 year extension at $35M AAV. He was exactly correct. This is where the market is.
  23. https://www.spotrac.com/news/_/id/2316/10-nfl-ota-holdouts Interesting that there are/were 6 WRs holding out of voluntary OTAs along with a QB, an OT, a DT and (double checks notes) a PK. Jefferson signed so he’s off that list. Lamb will likely get a similar deal soon. Aiyuk will get a big deal, but not quite what they got. Higgins likely will have to wait until next year for his payday. Slayton is looking for a bump and Sutton wants paid to stay in the crapfest that is the Broncos or be traded away. I don’t blame them. Tua has been discussed. Interesting that Miami locked up their WRs first. That was smart IMO. Wirfs wants paid - and deserves it. I think TB would be smart to do that sooner rather than later. Can Heyward doesn’t want to stick around Pittsburgh and their mediocrity unless he gets paid. Don’t blame him. He’s 35. And last, but certainly least, on the list is Eddie Pineiro, the Panthers place kicker. That takes real brass. I’ll just say that.
  24. Punters aren’t going to win you any games. You just need them not to lose you any.
