Lotta blame to go around but the biggest issue is poor execution by players.

[Misleading Title] Did anyone else gag watching PFF...
BarleyNY replied to sistersarah's topic in The Stadium Wall
Florid is PFT, not PFF. He’s also a total tool. -
Kinda where I am on this. $6.1M for 2022. I let him play out his deal unless there is some other mitigating factor. Injury that would impact 2022. Or if he were to insist on one last big payday attached to an extension, for instance. I’m not interested in that. But $6.1M? Sure. Just stay off of social media, Beasley.

Oh Sammy...I don't miss you. Pathetic effort here.

Fragile Sammy Watkins would shatter into a million pieces if he hit the padded goal post at full speed. -
Has NFL "ownership" of gambling sites corrupted the league

JFC. Soros owned about a quarter of one percent of Draftkings. And he sold all of that about a year ago. But please don’t let that stop you. -

Honestly it’s probably already a lot worse than we all realize. But this should make it a lot worse. -
Referee Tony Corrente corrupt as *****!!!

They lost to the Kraft owned Patriots. He’s on that list too. Nice that they both made it there. And that Covid didn’t hit ‘ol Roger in the pocketbook too hard. -

Fun fact: The six owner compensation committee that determined Goodell’s last compensation package - which was then passed unaltered by the owners - was comprised of: Arthur Blank, Chairman Clark Hunt Robert Kraft John Mara Bob McNair Art Rooney That contract paid him $128M over the last 2 years. I wonder how Roger feels about those owners and their teams? -
Hope everything works out for you and yours.

Agreed. I have been beating that drum too. No team has invested more in the defense than the Bills since McD got here. #1 in spending on that side of the ball over the last 4 seasons and a slew of high draft picks spent there. Yes, the defense has been good, but (as you said) the return has not been in line with the outlay. In today’s NFL, with it so skewed toward offenses, you have to invest there. Its easy to be down and want to point fingers after the last loss. The truth is that we weren’t as good as people thought after our fast start and we aren’t as bad as fans are saying now after that debacle. The Bills are a very good team, but they have flaws. Teams have adjusted to a lot of what we are doing and now we’ve had some adversity. Maybe the team even got a little full of themselves. Let’s see how they react.

It was obvious that he spun down on his own to protect his knee/ankle from being twisted. That said, Jones absolutely twisted one of Burns’ legs while he cut out his other. If a defensive player had done that to a QB, he’d be getting suspended.

This is awesome - congrats to Chris Spielman

Thursday nite football: Broncos at Browns
BarleyNY replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I see Trubisky and Keenum as opposite types of players. Trubisky has a lot of talent but his problems are above the neck. Keenum knows what to do but he does not have the physical ability to do it all. The deeper the pass, the worse he performed because he just doesn’t have a very strong arm. -

I’d like to see exactly what those stats were based on. In general, I think going for it is the right call. But I don’t see it in this particular case. Even if Allen had made the first down we’d still have been on the two (ish), had to have used our last time out and only had 15 or 16 seconds left on the clock. That would have substantially limited our playcalling. With a minute on the clock and all 3 time outs, easily yes, go for it. With 22 seconds and 1 time out, no. I would’ve had Allen try to draw the defense Offside, called our last TO and then kicked the FG.

Bills sign Taron Johnson to 3 year extension
BarleyNY replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
So happy we locked him up for awhile. Nice extension for a very good slot CB. Importantly we now have two of our three starting CBs locked up long term. That’s huge. -
I read that it doesn’t require surgery “at this time”. I’ve had a torn labrum and they do not heal on their own. You can live with it but it causes issues. Mine was caused by bench pressing. After an initial recovery period it was fine except when load was applied in that direction. I couldn’t bench press without my shoulder starting to dislocate. That was the worst of it. I did eventually have the surgery and got an anchor put in. Recovery sucked. My arm was immobilized for weeks. The atrophy was brutal, but Mayfield is a lot younger than I was. This season the much of the pain should go away soon - except if it’s moved the wrong way or gets further injured.

He wasn’t starting and next season’s salary was guaranteed for injury. Guessing they just decided to cut their losses and not risk having to pay him more.

You seem to be agreeing with me. My point was always that the circumstances are the defining factor here, not that a woman was grinding on a HC.

Let me ask you about Bill Cowher. How much did you hear about his longtime affair with one of the Steelers’ secretaries? Almost took down his marriage and it is why he retired to Carolina when he did. It wasn’t the team that got him to retire. He was winning so it got hushed up and he kept his job. Only down the road a bit did an ultimatum from his wife cause him to call coaching quits. If Meyer was 4-0 and JAX was looking great this wouldn’t even be an issue by now. And if BB didn’t fly with the team prior to TB leaving NE, then no one would have cared. Now they might, but a few years ago they wouldn’t have. I agree with all of this. But I’m just saying that winning coaches can (and do) get away with a lot. Having the sense to walk a straight line when things are not going well is part of being a good/smart coach.
-
That’s part of my point. You can’t do this stuff when you’re losing like this. Those coaches you note are winning and have the respect of their teams. If you think this would matter at all if it were Bruce Arians who is sitting at 3-1 and sporting a shiny new SB ring, then you’d be wrong. If it were Nagy in Chicago, sure, he’d be as good as gone.

The wildcard there is that it is Jax and they were dumb enough to hire him I’m the first place. I don’t trust Khan to make a single good decision regardless of how obvious it is.
