  1. Sometimes you see panic trades like that when a HC or GM is trying to win immediately so they can hang onto their jobs. That’s about it. Look at the stupid trades O’Brien made in Houston.
  2. The restructure option clauses I’m talking about just convert some of this season’s salary to a signing bonus, which would be paid upon execution. Looking closer I see that for Tre it’s $7.5M and the window closes today. That will clear $6M this season and move it out. Link Dawkins also has $7.5M that can be converted by today. It will clear $5.6M. It’s less because it will be spread over 4 years instead of 5 like Tre’s. Link
  3. He will value shop and create cap if he needs it if we connect with a more expensive player that make sense for us. Edit: Actually @Reed83HOF mentioned that Tre & Dawkins had restructure option clauses in their contracts but they had a window of a few days. That window has passed so I’d wager that they were executed and that we have more cap space than what OTC and Spotrac can verify. They wouldn’t want to broadcast the fact that they have the extra cap space for negotiation purposes so it’ll only come out if and when they need it. Edit 2: Spotrac has us with negative cap space and does not yet have Feliciano’s contract accounted for. They Bills have certainly executed those clauses and/or made room elsewhere.
  4. Browns have a few other candidates that are in the running. I’ll take Peyton Hillis who got 1,177 of his career 2,832 rushing yards in 2010 and was voted to the cover of Madden. Derek Anderson, KW2 and Kelly Holcomb also had some crazy years/games for the Browns.
  5. I think he means that his cousin’s mom is taking them to McDonalds and then go carting. He’s not supposed to know - it’s a surprise, so shhhhh.
  6. While I agree with you, I’d also say that if Watkins comes back to play for Buffalo it’ll probably be because the situations have changed. Both the one in Buffalo with the Bills and the one where he’s not getting nearly the offers he used to think he was worth.
  7. Hope everyone who had his jersey kept it
  8. TV contract numbers are getting finalized. That’s the game changer IMO. Now both sides know what they’re working with and these deals can get done.
  9. And Mayock Probably not anymore. He wasn’t making money in Oakland (thus the Mack trade) so he moved the team to Vegas to cash in on the sweet deal they offered.
  10. There were so many years where this signing would cause infinite arguments. There’d be those that were convinced that we got a talented QB who was ready to turn things around and shine here in the right offense with the right coaches. And there’d be those who complain we just wasted a bunch of money on a bust and that we were doomed. Now we’re all like “Hey, nice pick up. He’ll make a great back up.”
  11. While I have immense confidence in the dysfunction and incompetence of the Jest ownership, they did (probably by accident) get themselves a quality HC. There is zero chance that Saleh took that job without assurances of getting his QB this year. Darnold is getting moved and the Jest will draft a QB.
  12. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.si.com/nfl/vikings/.amp/news/vikings-de-danielle-hunter-successful-surgery-herniated-disc-neck https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/minnesota-vikings/danielle-hunter-16812/ I did some digging and was surprised by some things here. The first link is an article about his successful surgery. What I find incredibly surprising is that it also includes a tweet from Ian Rapaport that says that Hunter’s agent was demanding a new contract that would make Hunter the highest paid defensive player in the league or trade him. That tweet came BEFORE Hunter even had his surgery. Wow. The second link is his contract, which runs through 2023, so he has three seasons left on it. It is a 5 year deal worth $72M. That’s huge and ranks 7th among DEs in AAV, but it is way below market for a healthy Hunter. But who is giving him such a massive deal without knowing if he will stay healthy?
  13. That’s fair if it’s all about getting more money this season. I was surprised he did that. My only thoughts on it are that it’s either: - a way for him to get himself out of Minny or - the neck injury that very well could have ended his career got him thinking he has to set himself and his family up financially ASAP If it’s the former, then okay. If it’s the latter, then you have to really be concerned. Waimea team could hand handing him a huge check only to watch him make business decisions on the field for a couple seasons and then retire.
  14. $12.7M which is fully guaranteed at the time it is executed under the new rule from latest CBA that kicks in for 2018 1st rounders. It also fully guarantees any 4th year salary that isn’t already guaranteed. It’s gotta be done by 5/3/21. Here’s some good info: https://overthecap.com/fifth-year-option-projections/
  15. IMO it’s worth picking up Edmunds 5th year option to see where he is in two years. He was drafted very young and has dealt with injury. We should give him that vote of confidence and see what happens. For those thinking about extending him consider these points: - No way do you extend him before Allen. Same draft, Allen was the earlier 1st round pick and it’s QB vs MLB. Extending Edmunds before Allen would be a terrible message to send. - 16th overall picks extended by the teams that drafted them prior to becoming FAs get paid very large. We’re talking $15M-$16M AAV for 5 years with 60% guaranteed (in my estimation). So the bar is very high for an extension. - If he is good, but falls short of that level of performance he could still test the market and return at a rate more in line with his performance.
  16. The Browns need 3 good TEs on their roster because they run so many multiple TE sets. I think they only move Njoku if they have another to take his place. Seems like Rudolph would have been the likely answer for them, but that didn’t materialize. I do know that the Browns have fielded offers for Njoku but none they deemed sufficient. I got the impression that it was likely going to be a player for player trade if it happened.
  17. BB always loved his TEs. But to the original question, I’d think we’d see a lot of Big Nickel against 21 personnel. That means Neal will see a lot of action. But here’s some food for thought: Everyone is looking at what BB is doing with his offense through the lens of how it works for Cam, but it is also a great plan for a rookie QB. Cam is his bridge QB and I expect him to be very aggressive going after one early in the draft. He’s made attempts at acquiring a QB in the first round ever since Jimmy G got traded away, he just hasn’t been able to pull off the trades.
  18. It isn’t the cap that’s the mirage, it’s the contracts that are.
  19. The salary cap isn’t wrong, it’s just misunderstood
  20. I was bummed until I saw the $10M price tag. Dude went for the cash. Do not blame him one bit, but guys that are focused on the money can go elsewhere.
