  1. A bigger issue is that the NFL only randomly checked three teams, including the Browns and Rams. Both of those have double digit cases. That apparently has not led to additional teams being tested at the level those three were, which sure seems like a prudent thing to do. To me that looks like the league is trying to get more games played rather than limit the spread of disease. The Browns went through normal protocols before practice on Wednesday which means that unvaccinated players were tested. The team practiced. Then AFTER practice they were told that the entire team had to be tested. That’s when the positive results came rolling in. Allegedly 3 teams got this random full team testing.
  2. A long time ago I fought full contact TKD. Headgear was required, but at Nationals I saw a few fighters with just a pad that covered the backs of their heads, not the usual full head, open-faced ones like everyone else wore. It was explained to me that when people got knocked down or fell backwards they’d sometimes hit the backs of their heads - at times even falling outside the mat area (which wasn’t very thick anyway) onto the concrete floor. That was the worst concussion issue in a sport where kicking people in the head was the main goal. That’s how dangerous hitting the back of your head is.
  3. The money has already been paid. The voidable contract years just spread some of the cap hit out. Those two numbers are locked in.
  4. Every play is designed to work. The biggest issue is that they used this play in an obvious situation. We should have just kept the offense on the field. The Pats, being a well coached team, were not rushing. They were playing safety and were ready for the fake.
  5. Urban was already starting to get exposed at the college level. The RO/RPO heavy offense was evolving and he was not evolving with it. He still had the huge advantage of being a tremendous recruiter, but even the has its limits. As terrible of a decision as it was to hire him, at least Khan did not compound his mistake by letting Meyer linger, i.e. Jimmy Haslam and Hue Jackson with the Browns.
  6. lol Hughes isn’t under contract next season so him not being here doesn’t impact next season’s cap at all. Releasing Morse and Star would cause dead cap hits. Due to those the savings would be only $7.5M for Morse and $4.25 for Star.
  7. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/cap/2022/ 😂 Don’t get too excited. The Bills currently have 39 players under contract for next season plus about $10M projected in available cap space. They will (have to) create more space - and there’s various places for them to do that - but there won’t be a big spending spree. There’s lots of work to be done.
  8. So it isn’t a sign of respect to put players names on the wall of honor?
  9. Monuments are not how you tell history, they are how you honor people, events, etc. The easy answer is to leave his name up on this stadium, but omit it from the new one.
  10. If you believe this, then why do you watch any games? Why waste your time on a fraudulent product that is sure to only bring you frustration?
  11. Against Carolina? Sure. Start Trubisky. Get Allen healthy. I’m not a huge Trubisky fan so I would want Allen available should he be needed.
  12. IMO there is not a more frustrating penalty that DPI on an underthrown ball. It needs addressed somehow.
  13. You think he’s coached to leave his assigned gap and to overrun plays?
  14. My point is that it’s going to be very difficult to trade him while he is on a fully guaranteed one year $12.7M contract. We’d have to eat some of that unless we got very lucky. As for finding his replacement, I’ve been advocating for that for some time now.
  15. His fifth year option for next year was picked up. It is for $12.7M and is fully guaranteed. It would be tough to trade him. I think he will be here through next season.
  16. Any thoughts on what they should do about THIS season?
  17. This is speculation on my part, but I suspect that someone up top has decided that the team’s enormous investment in Allen be protected and has nixed running him a lot. I’ve heard no rumors or anything, it’s just that I can think of nothing else that makes sense as to why the Bills aren’t running a lot more ROs, RPOs and designed QB runs.
  18. When this much money is on the line there is always (almost without exception) corruption. Individual teams are guilty of it, the league is guilty of it, coaches are guilty of it and players are guilty of it. Not all of them, but more than most people would think. Mostly it amounts to things getting swept under the rug by the league in order to “protect the shield,” aka their reputation, aka their revenue streams.
  19. That is pretty effed up. Urban is going to cash in on the terrible job he did coaching the Jags, but I think he has now burned a lot of bridges. I don’t think he gets another big TV or coaching gig l, nor should he.
  20. I think in general it’s better to run the clock down to the last play of the game. The odds of a bad snap, etc are so low. But in certain cases - new snapper/holder, protection issues, etc. - it would make sense. I don’t remember if the Steelers had any issues like that in the game I mentioned. It was a long time ago.
  21. I believe the strategy on this is that if there is a bad snap or if the kick is blocked back (doesn’t cross the LOS) and is recovered by the kicking team, then possession is maintained and there is time left - and downs left - to try the FG again. I was at a Browns v Steelers game in Pittsburgh that went to OT and this came into play. Browns blocked a Steelers FG attempt late in OT on 3rd down, Steelers recovered and successfully kicked the winner on the next play.
  22. Had Freiermuth not had the ball punched out in the last play (it was an excellent defensive play), then Pittsburgh would’ve still needed a successful 2 point conversion just to get to OT. So your comment was a bit of an overstatement. Good. It’s about time people start giving up the false narratives surrounding Star. He hasn’t played anywhere close to his contract since he got here and he’s been so bad against the run. Sadly, due to his contract there’s a very good chance he will be here next season.
