  1. I don’t know how much that will help because I don’t see an addition like MVS getting on the field much. Here’s where my heads at: If I am a DC and the Bills bring in 21 personnel with Coleman as a WR, then I’m only worried about one WR getting deep. I’m keeping the defense in a coverage that can be aggressive against the run, short to intermediate passing game and getting to the QB. If Coleman can excel at making contested catches downfield then that would change things, but that’s tough to do. Or maybe we just move back to more 11.
  2. This board’s sudden and enthusiastic dedication to the “fast 40 time” straw man is impressive.
  3. Oh crap. I misread that. Thank you for the correction. I won’t bother to find out who was in group 8 then.
  4. I’ve been hoping to see Coleman’s in game tracking data - especially his speed. This makes me feel a bit better about the selection.
  5. Mine was watching Davis break a DBs ankles and catch the go ahead TD with 13 seconds left in the AFCC game against KC. I was elated and stunned. I said “I can’t believe we did it! We’re going to the Super Bowl!” and hugged my daughter. I was a true believer in this team and had confidence they could win Buffalo a championship.
  6. Opposing DCs aren’t stupid. In general they moved to playing a lot of coverages like two deep to take away deep throws down the sidelines. That reduced explosive plays league wide. But I think the problem is that you need to be able to threaten deep or defenses will play more MOFC coverages like C-1 and C-3 that are better against the run and seam routes. No decent DC is going to sit in a C-2 and C-4 all day against a team that can’t reliably threaten deep.
  7. Is it about 40 times? I thought it was about adding good players with speed. That’s something I think would help this team, especially compared with adding good players who are not fast by NFL standards.
  8. In game tracking data is far more useful than a 40 time run in shorts. It’s too bad that that data is not publicly available at this point. Watching Coleman play and looking at the data we do have it’s easy to conclude that he has sufficient speed to play WR in the NFL, but also that he is not fast enough that speed will be a positive difference making asset for him. Now as for his difficulties separating, that’s a big concern made bigger by a lack of speed.
  9. What vet cut after 6/1 will be a meaningful addition here?
  10. Yeah. That hurt. I am sure he’d have been the pick.
  11. It’s just such a trash draft in general. I have a tough time complaining about Carter. The talent left at the end of the third this year would be found in the fifth round in a more typical draft. I get why they’d take a safety as they have a huge need there. Bullard is probably my favorite pick of this draft so far. It’s good to have a safety that can cover a TE. I am disappointed in the trade with KC as well as Coleman. I hate WRs who lack lateral agility and can’t separate. I’m not sure how he’s all that useful in this offense. However he is young and possibly hasn’t fully developed as a player yet so there’s some hope. Still, I’m not a fan. I’ve got little hope for much on day three. We have a lot of picks, but the talent isn’t there. We will be into priority UDFA players by about 150. Maybe we have enough lottery tickets that one pays off. Hopefully the Bills use them to move around to get a guy if they really want him.
  12. Gotta be Pickerington, OH. As a native Ohioan I can tell you that’s a common ceiling pattern for a drywall ceiling. It’s called stippling and is done with a small mop while a final coat of joint compound is still wet.
  13. I was not a Franklin fan. Not saying he isn’t worth a day 3 pick in this draft, but a late first is ridiculous. the trouble he has tracking and catching balls thrown over his head is very concerning. He’s so poor at it that it could prevent him form every playing a meaningful snap in the NFL.
  14. lol. honestly I’d love it. especially in this draft
  15. Yep. For all those saying that KC would’ve probably gotten him anyway, it’s important to note that we were the ones that made sure they did.
  16. Not true regarding him as a prospect. Not optimal size for an outside CB, but big enough and with a fantastic skill set.
  17. It became obvious that the Bills were doing a soft reboot this season when they cut ties with so many vets, ate so much dead cap and drastically cut cash spending. Few here were ready to admit that the Bills would be less competitive this season than the last few, but that’s the reality. Even I thought that they might go big for a top 3 WR in this draft and lean into the offense for a path to a good playoff run. They’ll have cap space to spend in FA next offseason. If they do that well and draft well this season and next we will be at the forefront of another open window in 2025. Even this season we should be a good team, just not a real contender.
  18. Not as sick as I am of people here pretending McDuffie was a Slot Only CB prospect so they can say we didn’t really want him. Revisionist history so they can excuse the Bills’ mistake.
  19. Thank you. The Bills fans here pretending that we got one over on KC are hilarious. They’ve been better at talent evaluation, team building, coaching and execution on the field than us. But, hey, we turned a 4th round pick into the last non-compensatory 3rd round pick and moved waaaay up on the 7th round. All they got was the WR they really wanted. 3-D chess! Genius!
  20. That’s logical. Obviously things can change substantially over the next four years, but I see your point. The more global concern is, of course, that using a high pick for a safety rather than a WR is a poor use of resources. Your numbers illustrate the relatively massive amount of money saved on a quality WR vs safety playing on rookie deals.
  21. 5th year options are calculated for each position using salaries at that position.
  22. Very possibly. But over Newton? You know how he loves DL. But then again I guess we could use someone to cover Worthy now.
  23. There’s almost no way that this works out positively. Every TD pass thrown from the NFL’s best QB (who the Bills handed to KC) to the WR that holds the combine 40 record (who the Bills handed to KC) will be an emotional trauma. It will repeatedly churn up that Mahomes trade. After a big trade up for one of the top 3 WRs I honestly thought that our next best option was a trade back to acquire another meaningful pick in this year’s draft. But that couldn’t be with KC. This is devastating.
