The Timeless Thread....Things That Have Aged Well

DB depth is something that certainly could have been addressed already. But here’s a few still available: Sherman (baggage), Robey-Coleman, Conley and Boston (S). Not world beaters, but they’d all be cheap, except Sherman who is probably off the table anyway. The name that interests me the most is Robey-Coleman. I’d have wanted to see Conley in camp first. Others will come available too.

I am absolutely discounting that theory because pass rush and coverage should help each other. A team is way better off if both can do that rather than one always having to help the other. That all said, I don’t think that the Bills fall into that category. The starters in the secondary are plenty good enough to help a pass rush get home. The real issue is depth because the Bills have very little in their secondary. One injury and everything changes so the addition of a solid vet would help a lot in that regard.

So I saw news video footage of an elderly lady getting punched and screamed at by some 20ish kid. It was on public transportation (subway IIRC). Lotta people recorded it but no one helped. Then they showed people’s reactions to that and everyone said how disgusting it was that it happened and that no one helped, but chose to record it. The very last clip was of a police official explaining that the way to handle this as a bystander was to not get physically involved but instead to provide the police with any information they could to help apprehend the offender. You know, like video evidence. -
Dion Dawkins activated from COVID list
BarleyNY replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m glad he’s recovering well. Sounds like what he went through was very scary. I think Dawkins will do everything he can to play. I’m actually a lot less worried about him getting on the field than I am about how close to 100% he will be when he plays. I mentioned Myles Garrett already. He was at best 75% of his usual self. I don’t like the idea of Dawkins at 75%. The impact of that on an LT is way different than on a DE. Fingers crossed that he’s 100% sooner rather than later. -
Add One Player Theoretical, To Put us Over The Top
BarleyNY replied to BillsShredder83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’d say Mack still belongs at the top of that list. Garrett definitely belongs on it too. Those are the top 5 IMO. I’d go Donald (no cap considerations) but a stud WR like Hopkins would make a lot of sense too. How filthy would our WR corps be with him, Diggs and Beasley on the field together? -

I remember when he came to tOSU people told me he was better than the Bosa brothers. I thought it was hyperbole, but it was not. He was and he is. -

Never trade big draft capital for a player un for a new deal unless you negotiate that deal prior to the trade. Teams get bent over every time. -

The NFL has been gradually limiting tailgating and this kind of behavior is one of the reasons why. The others are profit and liability. Teams are trying to drive the tailgaters to team owned areas where they can sell them $12 beers. Not gonna have all that many drunks at that price. That means more money, less liability and fewer problems at the stadium. -
Urban just can’t quit Tebow! (Update - Cut by Jags)
BarleyNY replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’ve seen a lot of older players try to make a comeback after being out of football. But they never seem to get anything more than a try out, if that. And the only one I recall who tried a position switch at the time of the attempted come back is Kelvin Benjamin. He tried to go from WR to TE and literally didn’t make it through warm ups in the first practice. i’ve said it 100 times. It’s not Tebow, it’s the throng of rabid supporters who fawn over him and defend him at every turn. No matter how poor his play or how ridiculous a comeback attempt, it’s the same thing. His spot on JAC should’ve gone to someone with an outside shot at the roster. I lost respect for Urban Meyer for even bringing him in and creating such a sideshow. But, hey, they sold some jerseys. -
A Few Thoughts About the Lions Game, in no particular order
BarleyNY replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That would seriously be hilarious -
Covid only knocked Garrett out of action for two games, but he looked like a shell of himself the rest the season. As mentioned above it took him a whole offseason with specialists and a ton of hard work to get himself all the way back to where he was pre-Covid. Obviously we don’t know if Dawkins is in a similar situation or not, but it’s my concern that he is. And reading what McDermott said about where he is right now does not alleviate any of that concern.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 1
BarleyNY replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That’s exactly who Hart was with the Bungles. I can’t believe he got another crack at the NFL and I can’t believe it was the Bills who gave it to him. And I really, really, really can’t believe that we gave him $350k guaranteed. I’ll get Beane my phone number if he wants to piss away any more money on someone who has no business playing in the NFL. I am in no way knocking Rousseau here. He did exactly what he was supposed to do. Full points to him. Sewell’s set is garbage though. He turned his shoulders and hips to the outside and lost all of his leverage. He looked like a guy who hasn’t played in over a year and isn’t used to playing on the right side. -
Joe Schobert traded to Steelers
BarleyNY replied to MasterStrategist's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Late round pick(s) https://twitter.com/rapsheet/status/1426181911442038790?s=21 Scho is a good LB. As noted he’s good in coverage but not very good against the run. JAX just way overpaid for him a season ago. Looks like a one year rental for the Stillers. -

Any interest in C J Henderson?

That’s good to know. I have done zero work on him myself. What we’re his big flaws (if you recall)? -
Tasker & Brown don't know the cap rules
BarleyNY replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To prevent teams from having 100 voidable years on contracts. It has also been limited to not exceed the end of the CBA in the past. Not sure if the current one has that clause or not. -

They’d only really need to know that stuff if they were going to talk about it on air. Oh, wait. -
