  1. I am always bewildered by those who think GMs owe the fans every last bit of information. If anything, they get punished by the media (and occasionally the league) when they say too much. Beane did everyone a favor in your example. Even Hollister by basically saying that he is good enough to be on the team, but there just wasn’t room with the direction we went. Even if there was a little bit of a white lie in that, there was no harm done and it was a kind gesture.
  2. This is correct. It’s worth mentioning that Spotrac and OverTheCap do not get their info straight from the league and are not always immediately privy to everything - especially restructures. Dion Dawkins is the obvious candidate to create cap space by having some of his salary converted to a signing bonus. That or another similar move is forthcoming - or it may have already happened and not been made public.
  3. It’s almost like you have an affinity for gunners or something
  4. Maybe 4-6 games a week, including Bills. Sunday is good for 2-3 games and then I watch several condensed games on GamePass. Sometimes a Mon or Thurs game, but usually I’d rather watch 2-3 condensed games than a half of most MNF or TNF games.
  5. The Pats are still paying Cam $3.6M for not being on their team. Sweet
  6. Houston paid just over $7M for that 6th round pick. That is not good GM work. And no need to invite a QB controversy.
  7. There is still plenty of talent on the Stillers. Unfortunately for them none of it is on their offensive line. Also it is to be seen how much is left at QB. Rapistberger had a huge arm but I don’t know how much is left. He couldn’t throw long last season. I only saw him throw one deep pass this preseason and it was lofted too high. If he is reasonably back to form then it might be a game - especially if the refs aren’t calling offensive holding. If he’s not, then there’s no reason it should be. It’s wonderful to be at a place where a single big flaw in an opponent equals an almost certain win.
  8. This isn’t saying that it’s okay to be terrible at run defense. It makes a lot of sense if you think about it like this: it’s better to be average at run defense and great at rushing the passer rather than the other way around.
  9. He underperformed his draft position and then he underperformed the contract he got in FA.
  10. Fantastic start by Allen and the offense. Please bubble wrap them now.
  11. Shaq is pretty much what I thought he would be pre draft. He’s a solid DE who is good against the run and can get some sacks with effort. He belongs on an NFL roster. In the right scheme he can be your second DE and he can be a rotational/third DE in others. A lot of fans had unrealistic expectations for him when he was drafted. Too many compared him to Mario and thought he’d be that kind of player, which was ridiculous. He’s a decent player, but 3 for $30M was a contract I was happy we didn’t give him.
  12. I look forward to Fitz’s next career in the broadcasting booth.
  13. Yes. He’s vested. That’s my bad. He’d be a FA. Also with an injury settlement other teams would be able to sign him earlier than the Bills. They’d have to wait until the period of time covered by the settlement expired. Correct. I’ll add that I’d much rather see an injury settlement than IR. Partly because it opens the door for him to come back and partly because it’s be doing him a solid. He could catch on somewhere else and get some playing time this season. Again, it depends on the severity of the injury.
  14. An injured McKenzie would almost certainly clear waivers. There is a very slim chance that a bottom feeder team would grab him, but there will be a lot of similar players available and they will have better contracts. Bills fans have really been overestimating McKenzie’s value this offseason. Now if he’s healthy by mid season a different team might sign him, but if we IR him then he doesn’t play this season and then he’s a FA after the season anyway. Or we can burn a roster spot on him at 53 cut down. I don’t really love that but it should work if we have a wink wink agreement with a player we cut. Options all really depend on the severity of the injury anyway. Right now it’s all speculation until we know what is going on there.
  15. I’m sure they got something in return
  16. Another option is to waive him with an injury designation and settlement. He could be re-signed once that period ends. That period would be based on how long recovery is expected and how much of his salary he is paid in the settlement. A team could pick him up off of waivers, but that’s very unlikely. It is an option.
  17. This has been covered. He was in process of getting fully vaccinated. He likely caught it around the time of his second shot and definitely prior to the two week period after the second shot when he’d be fully vaccinated.
  18. Gotta admire his confidence
  19. While true, preseason defenses are usually very vanilla. Trubisky has started enough games that he can handle what he’s seen so far. Those quick slants and crosses aren’t going to be there all game against most NFL defenses. It will very much be a different situation.
  20. The less Fields plays this season, the better off he will be. He won’t be in the offense next season (agree, Nagy is an idiot and I expect the house to get cleaned) and he won’t get killed behind that putrid OL.
  21. He’s looking really good in preseason. Fans may get giddy watching that, but NFL GMs know that it means very little. What they care about is his regular season performance, which was not exactly great. He’s a back up level QB until he balls out in the regular season against a halfway decent defense. I know the coaching staff is working with him and may very well accompany Daboll to his next destination, but he didn’t transform into a “mid-range starting QB” in a few weeks.
  22. I fear Fields will be in the same boat as Burrow. They are both quality QB prospects who are victims of incompetent franchises. Chicago probably did make the right move letting Trubisky go, but they stepped in with their Dalton and Foles moves. Oh, and their work on the OL has been a joke. No many rookies can take the beating Allen did. Burrow couldn’t and it’s doubtful Fields can if/when he gets thrown out there.
  23. I agree. He did not lower his head and lead with the crown of his helmet. But you can’t hit a QB helmet to helmet these days. Automatic flag. No one on here wants to see Allen take shots like that.
  24. The Browns strength of schedule is ranked 9th hardest with an opponent winning percentage of .518. LINK The Bills are tied for 23rd with an OWP of .478. The Bills fairly weak schedule should be very helpful in securing a high seed. Just looking at schedules I expect the Bills to host the Browns if they end up playing.
