  1. He underperformed his draft position and then he underperformed the contract he got in FA.
  2. Fantastic start by Allen and the offense. Please bubble wrap them now.
  3. Shaq is pretty much what I thought he would be pre draft. He’s a solid DE who is good against the run and can get some sacks with effort. He belongs on an NFL roster. In the right scheme he can be your second DE and he can be a rotational/third DE in others. A lot of fans had unrealistic expectations for him when he was drafted. Too many compared him to Mario and thought he’d be that kind of player, which was ridiculous. He’s a decent player, but 3 for $30M was a contract I was happy we didn’t give him.
  4. I look forward to Fitz’s next career in the broadcasting booth.
  5. Yes. He’s vested. That’s my bad. He’d be a FA. Also with an injury settlement other teams would be able to sign him earlier than the Bills. They’d have to wait until the period of time covered by the settlement expired. Correct. I’ll add that I’d much rather see an injury settlement than IR. Partly because it opens the door for him to come back and partly because it’s be doing him a solid. He could catch on somewhere else and get some playing time this season. Again, it depends on the severity of the injury.
  6. An injured McKenzie would almost certainly clear waivers. There is a very slim chance that a bottom feeder team would grab him, but there will be a lot of similar players available and they will have better contracts. Bills fans have really been overestimating McKenzie’s value this offseason. Now if he’s healthy by mid season a different team might sign him, but if we IR him then he doesn’t play this season and then he’s a FA after the season anyway. Or we can burn a roster spot on him at 53 cut down. I don’t really love that but it should work if we have a wink wink agreement with a player we cut. Options all really depend on the severity of the injury anyway. Right now it’s all speculation until we know what is going on there.
  7. Another option is to waive him with an injury designation and settlement. He could be re-signed once that period ends. That period would be based on how long recovery is expected and how much of his salary he is paid in the settlement. A team could pick him up off of waivers, but that’s very unlikely. It is an option.
  8. This has been covered. He was in process of getting fully vaccinated. He likely caught it around the time of his second shot and definitely prior to the two week period after the second shot when he’d be fully vaccinated.
  9. While true, preseason defenses are usually very vanilla. Trubisky has started enough games that he can handle what he’s seen so far. Those quick slants and crosses aren’t going to be there all game against most NFL defenses. It will very much be a different situation.
  10. The less Fields plays this season, the better off he will be. He won’t be in the offense next season (agree, Nagy is an idiot and I expect the house to get cleaned) and he won’t get killed behind that putrid OL.
  11. He’s looking really good in preseason. Fans may get giddy watching that, but NFL GMs know that it means very little. What they care about is his regular season performance, which was not exactly great. He’s a back up level QB until he balls out in the regular season against a halfway decent defense. I know the coaching staff is working with him and may very well accompany Daboll to his next destination, but he didn’t transform into a “mid-range starting QB” in a few weeks.
  12. I fear Fields will be in the same boat as Burrow. They are both quality QB prospects who are victims of incompetent franchises. Chicago probably did make the right move letting Trubisky go, but they stepped in with their Dalton and Foles moves. Oh, and their work on the OL has been a joke. No many rookies can take the beating Allen did. Burrow couldn’t and it’s doubtful Fields can if/when he gets thrown out there.
  13. I agree. He did not lower his head and lead with the crown of his helmet. But you can’t hit a QB helmet to helmet these days. Automatic flag. No one on here wants to see Allen take shots like that.
  14. The Browns strength of schedule is ranked 9th hardest with an opponent winning percentage of .518. LINK The Bills are tied for 23rd with an OWP of .478. The Bills fairly weak schedule should be very helpful in securing a high seed. Just looking at schedules I expect the Bills to host the Browns if they end up playing.
  15. That sucks. Hate seeing that. Get well, Mr Lawson. On the bright side he did this after getting $30M guaranteed and it wasn’t the Bills that gave it to him.
  16. Good call on Robey-Coleman. I didn’t notice him. I see that he signed a couple weeks ago. But my point stands. This isn’t an issue that just popped up. Players like him have been available. It’s becoming more difficult to find a decent option, but it could’ve been avoided.
  17. DB depth is something that certainly could have been addressed already. But here’s a few still available: Sherman (baggage), Robey-Coleman, Conley and Boston (S). Not world beaters, but they’d all be cheap, except Sherman who is probably off the table anyway. The name that interests me the most is Robey-Coleman. I’d have wanted to see Conley in camp first. Others will come available too.
  18. I am absolutely discounting that theory because pass rush and coverage should help each other. A team is way better off if both can do that rather than one always having to help the other. That all said, I don’t think that the Bills fall into that category. The starters in the secondary are plenty good enough to help a pass rush get home. The real issue is depth because the Bills have very little in their secondary. One injury and everything changes so the addition of a solid vet would help a lot in that regard.
  19. So I saw news video footage of an elderly lady getting punched and screamed at by some 20ish kid. It was on public transportation (subway IIRC). Lotta people recorded it but no one helped. Then they showed people’s reactions to that and everyone said how disgusting it was that it happened and that no one helped, but chose to record it. The very last clip was of a police official explaining that the way to handle this as a bystander was to not get physically involved but instead to provide the police with any information they could to help apprehend the offender. You know, like video evidence.
