Deshaun Watson to Browns - $230 million guaranteed
BarleyNY replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
You’ve shown that you are no expert either. Watson was a top 5 QB in the league when he played. He’s been off one season. Work ethic and talent have never been an issue. The contract and trade value are both in line for someone of his talent and performance. His character is the only issue - and it’s an enormous one. You don’t have to make up garbage excuses to not like Watson or the move. It’s right there. -
Star released. Pre-6/1 per Joe B, $1.5M cap savings.

Finally. The nightmare is over. -
Right or wrong, once the Browns showed their hand and looked at an upgrade at QB it was predictable to see where this would go. Could the Browns make him play this season? Sure. But that is fraught with pitfalls. They still have to say they expect him to be their QB this season - until they replace him. Then they can trade him. As for Mayfield, he deserves some of the blame for this situation, but I don’t blame him for wanting out now. That would be a huge mistake. He could wind up having to play there this season if they can’t get his replacement and his trade value sucks.

OT: The sudden existential crisis in New England
BarleyNY replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
***** that’s funny. (That was a 4 letter word.) -
The salary cap is real, it’s the contracts that aren’t. The Bills had room for one big addition this off season. Kudos to Beane & Co for getting it done.

Ah. Misread Taylor’s deal as per season.

How TF is Tyrod making twice what Trubisky is?

My concern is that three Bills players were in the top 50 players in PRWR in 2021 - and two of them were Hughes and Addison. The third was Oliver, who had the 5th highest double team rate of those top 50 players. PRWR is a good metric to look at. It’s more stable than sacks overall. But I worry that outside of Oliver we don’t have the players to pressure QBs. He’s going to need more help. That could be a draft pick, a free agent or development of players already on the roster.

Levi Wallace gone to the Steelers on 2-year deal
BarleyNY replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
A Yeah. I was fully prepared for Wallace to go elsewhere - but not for $4M/season. -
Anyone know of any sites/apps/vendors that sell quality Bills artwork?
BarleyNY replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall
I want that on my wall -
Meh. Baker never let anything like that affect him. He got jerked around in college. He walked on at Texas Tech where there was an entrenched starter and wound up starting that season for them as a true freshman. Then after getting jerked out of a scholarship there he left and walked onto Oklahoma’s team where he had to sit out a year. Then he beat out the entrenched starter the following season. All he did was start there for 3 seasons and became the only walk on player ever to win the Heisman trophy. The Browns FO talking with Watson might not do anything more than piss him off Aaron Rodgers style.

Harrison Phillips to Vikings, 3 year 19.5 million
BarleyNY replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Yup. I’m happy for him and I’m glad we didn’t give him that contract. -
The big question is: Do they bother to put an OL in front of them this year?

Why is Miami is collecting fragile QBs? I guess if that’s you’re thing, then it’s better to have multiple ones.

Tremaine Edmunds contract comparison
BarleyNY replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Packers are stealing here. That’s a bargain for Campbell. But I would not want the Bills to give Edmunds that deal. -
Yeah. Saffold seems an odd choice. We dump Williams because he’s making too much and he’s not a good fit for the zone scheme we’re moving to, but sign an OG that, if I’m not mistaken, fits gap/power and is a good run blocker, but not very good in pass pro. I haven’t seen the contract details yet, but an early signing usually doesn’t equate to “on the cheap”. Gonna wait for that though. Edited to add: I see that he was on McVay’s LA Rams team for two seasons. He was already on the roster when McVay got the job, but he would’ve played in a zone scheme under him so there is some film of it.

I’m most interested in seeing what the first year cash payout and additional guarantees are

2 year deal being reported

Edit! McKenzie is back on a 2 year deal worth 4.4 million
BarleyNY replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Okay, this seems much more reasonable. And that’s why people need to chill out until the details come out on any deal.
