One would hope. The public has gotten hosed before, however. The Bengals screwed the county they are located in on their deal. Their stadium opened way back in 2000 and negotiated back when teams had leverage of moving to Cleveland. They paid less than 10% of the cost of their stadium - $44M of the $455M cost. The public was also required to pay for upgrades and maintenance. Cleveland got stuck with massive overrun costs for their baseball stadium and basketball arena when they were built too. I’m not saying anyone is getting hosed here. I’m just trying to figure out how the new stadium will be financed - and how much is coming from PSLs. https://static.clubs.nfl.com/image/private/falcons/zykp7mef7y5pqoqut3da Here is a chart for the Falcons PSL. Note that the prices listed are the 10% deposit on the PSLs, not the full price. Add a zero for that. One thing that runs me the wrong way regarding PSLs is that they are a money maker for teams. The initial sale goes to financing the stadium, but when owners have to turn them back in the team gets to resell them and keeps the money. When the team is bad, you move away or run into financial difficulties you have to either keep buying the season tickets, sell them privately (usually at a loss) or turn them back in to the team.

Speculative article on friction between McDermott and Staff?
BarleyNY replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Gotta be honest, this is where I am. If things go South for the Bills, this is what everyone will point to as the place it all went wrong. It’s by no means a foregone conclusion that’s how it will go, but I agree that a lot of goodwill is used up. That matters if, for instance, Dorsey’s offense gets off to a slow start or the defense takes a step back. The former is a possibility, but the latter is a near certainty IMO simply because we are going to play a tougher schedule with better opposing QBs. I hope that the ship gets righted and we get over the hump. Expectations are so high for this team that it is difficult to live up to them, especially in a loaded AFC. 🤞 -
I assumed that was the plan when they drafted him. That or get him to trim down like with Epenesa.

So let’s piece this together: - $1.4B estimated cost (though there always seems to be overruns) - $850M in “public funds” (awaiting details) - $200M from Pegulas - $150M NFL loan That would leave $200M needed from other sources like PSLs. In a 50k venue that works out to $4k per seat on average if only from PSLs. https://sportsnaut.com/buffalo-bills-new-stadium-funds/amp/

Wyatt won’t make it to Day 2. I don’t know if he even makes it to 25.

How much $ is Trubusky going to sign for in FA?
BarleyNY replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was surprised when he signed with us for $2.5M too. But his issues in Chicago seemed to be of the “neck up” variety. Could that have a lot to do with poor coaching? Sure. But even if that was the case (and it almost certainly was), that doesn’t mean he can play if he gets good coaching. That said, I don’t blame a QB needy team for taking a crack at him. I would. It’s a poor QB draft and very poor QB FA class. What’s worse is that - other than Trubisky - we know who every other FA QB is. He’s the only one that has a real possibility of upside. But let’s keep in mind that his stock rose in a year when he didn’t played a meaningful snap. It didn’t do so well the years he was. -

Do you mean no reason other than his performance while in Chicago? -
Which WR do you think the Bills will draft?
BarleyNY replied to Milanos Milano's topic in The Stadium Wall
He’ll have 9 months between injury and NFL week 1. He will miss camp, etc so there that issue. That’ll knock him down boards. So will the number of high end WR prospects this year, but I’m taking him before any second tier WR prospect. -
Raiders getting calls from multiple teams for Derek Carr
BarleyNY replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m thinking along these lines. New HC in town who already might have something in the works for a different QB. Now they are trying to pump up his value. I feel about Carr a lot like I felt about Stafford. What would he look like in the right situation? In Tennessee, for example. Lots of fans dramatically underestimate how much working with Daboll impacted Allen’s development. He had a stable, consistent environment and a scheme that was tailored to his strengths and minimized his weaknesses. There are a number of QBs we can look at as failures or under-performers that did not have that. -
He’d be a hell of a book end with their Josh Allen. They might go OT, but I think Hutch. Thibodeaux has not been impressing in interviews FWIH so I think he will fall a bit.

Which WR do you think the Bills will draft?
BarleyNY replied to Milanos Milano's topic in The Stadium Wall
That’s who I picked. Burks would be my first choice of the players I think might be available at 25. The other is Williams due to his injury, but I still think he’ll be gone along with Olave and Wilson. Sky will probably be there in round two as he is a slot only WR - and we need that. Seems like a really nice fit. -
Cole Beasley given permission to seek trade
BarleyNY replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
IIRC as the season progressed Beasley wasn’t seeing the field much against man heavy teams. He was on it and still effective against zone heavy defenses, but that isn’t enough. That’s when I knew they wouldn’t bring him back in 2022 (unless it was due to him playing with an injury). -
Speculative article on friction between McDermott and Staff?
BarleyNY replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Sure you can. Some people don’t even like ME. But that’s not what we’re talking about. Accountability is. Specifically the contention that McDermott preaches it, but does not personally take it. I’m not taking this accusation as gospel, I’m just saying that it bears watching. Seems reasonable to me. -
Browns reinforce their plans for Mayfield.
BarleyNY replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed. It’s really their only choice. And, honestly, IF they were planning on drafting a QB they’d say the same thing. No need to telegraph your intentions and risk getting jumped for your guy. -
Speculative article on friction between McDermott and Staff?
BarleyNY replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
If true, this is about the most damning thing you can say about a leader other than incompetency. A normal and healthy amount of friction is expected in a high pressure organization like the Bills. But it bears watching to see if a lack of accountability is really an issue. I thought that the logical point of friction between Daboll and McDermott/Beane was the allocation of resources. Premium draft picks and higher priced FAs flowed far more freely to the defensive side of the ball (which is McDermott’s) than the offensive side (Daboll’s). -
Bills interested in signing Rob Gronkowski, per Tim Graham
BarleyNY replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
It is awkward Wonder if the team floated this to the media to make sure there wouldn’t be a big backlash? -
That’s a good thought. That really didn’t happen nationally. I guess people were just enamored by how fantastic a game it was. And they probably chalked it up to Mahomes playoff magic.
-
It’s reasonable that both are correct. Yes, the Bills should’ve played better defense those last 13 seconds and, yes, the postseason OT rules should be improved.
-
I think that it is more a result of Nagy’s further indictment. Some GM is going to talk himself into believing that Mitch was a victim in Chicago and all he needs is a good coach and solid team around him. And who knows? Maybe they’d be right. I wouldn’t stake my career on it, but they probably won’t have to either. He’s a perfect candidate for a 3 or 4 year deal that is really a reasonable (by NFL QB standards) one year deal with performance bonuses and an option for the rest at starting QB rates.

Today's Locked On Bills podcast - listen to it
BarleyNY replied to ProcessTruster's topic in The Stadium Wall
Was a decent listen. Interestingly his comment on Edmunds was that he was the best option at MLB for the Bills in 2022. Under the current circumstances - with his guaranteed $12.7M contract - I think that’s correct. Not much to be done except draft a developmental backup/replacement.
