  1. I’m sitting here trying to think of what another team would have to give me to take on Wentz and his contract.
  2. Dunno. Seems like they are ready to part ways with him though. They aren’t extending him and there’s only one season left on his contract. They could make him play it out, but it seems like they’d be better off getting something for him and going with the youngster (or GOAT). They could use the cap space too.
  3. The Rams started in Cleveland but left because they did not think that they could compete with the Browns. Their last season in Cleveland was the one before the Browns first. IIRC they were only in Cleveland for about 10 years before moving to LA for something like 50. Then to St Louis for 20ish and back to LA. The Rams are much more LA’s team than anyone else’s.
  4. If inexpensive I wouldn’t have an issue with bringing back Lawson. My concern is that he would preclude us from signing an effective pass rusher as it doesn’t make sense to go beyond 4 deep at DE. Plus a developmental 5th player. If he didn’t have any guarantees he could fight for a spot and that wouldn’t be an issue.
  5. The weirdest thing about him is that with his physical abilities there’s no reason he shouldn’t have been affecting the passing game. I get why people get excited about him when they think of what he could become, but what percentage do you give that? I don’t think he makes it to 25, but he seems like the kind of prospect the Bills would draft there if he is.
  6. It helps to remember that the team was in LA before it moved to St. Louis.
  7. We’re up to $557k in cap space!
  8. $2.5M would come off the books, but another player would roll up into the top 51 for $700k. Net savings would be $1.8M. As such I don’t think he’s a definite cut.
  9. It’s tough to tell around here, especially this time of year.
  10. Trades don’t impact comp picks.
  11. We will see stuff happen around the league now. The biggest domino (Rodgers) fell. Minutes later the second biggest (Wilson) followed suit. Plus it’s getting to be crunch time anyway.
  12. That’s not good for the other AFC contenders. Might wanna wait and see what team he gets traded to first.
  13. Trubisky’s rise in status is unprecedented for a guy who did nothing but sit out a year.
  14. Sure, they have to be replaced. But they aren’t all going to be replaced by free agents. Qualified FAs with expiring contracts minus those signed is how it works. Like contracts cancel out. So if some of the above are replaced by a draft pick, a player acquired via trade or a non-qualified FA then we should gain that number of comp picks.
  15. That’s what I would do if I were them.
  16. Allen’s contract fully kicks in next season. These are picks that can help the Bills stay competitive for the long term as we have to let some good players walk due to cap constraints. Personally I’d rather be talking about this than “13 seconds” or some combine warrior a handful of posters want to overdraft
  17. Here is an extensive explanation from OverTheCap. Perhaps just as useful here is OTC’s calculation for 2022 comp picks. Scroll down to see each team’s signings and expiring contracts.
  18. A bargain for him.
  19. That would be the part I also would not like, assuming this is true. But it would certainly make a lot of sense from a business perspective. There is a new stadium deal is being finalized and the team recently fell short of their very high expectations. Gronk? He fits pass catcher and is someone who would reach out to the Bills. Also he’d be a big deal with the media. Not quite a “big splash move” as I’d normally think of one though.
  20. I guess he’d fill a need, but he’s definitely not an optimum fit here. We’d be bidding against teams that can utilize his full skill set and while he seems competent as a pass rusher he has not proven to be a difference maker in that regard. The projection to how he’d do full time as a DE is not straight forward either. Maybe he improves and does well because it’s all he focuses on or maybe the additional exertion and pounding hinders him. If he’s really looking at a 5/60 contract, then I’m looking elsewhere.
  21. I don’t think Edmunds is tradeable on his one year, $12.7M deal. A team might do it if they loved him and could sign him long term. But that would have to happen pretrade and then he would know we were trying to trade him. I don’t think I’d want to go down that road. It could be a big problem if the trade fell through.
  22. Not the year to get Walker, but he’d be a better, less expensive option if we weren’t tied to Edmunds this season.
  23. This is why I can see the Bills talking themselves into Davis at 25. There’s just too much risk with him in particular for me, but some team will ignore the red flags. If it’s the bills, then I hope I’m wrong. The specific red flags I’m talking about or his lack of conditioning in college where he could physically dominate his opposition and his weight fluctuations. He was at Georgia so it’s not like he didn’t have the best nutritionists and trainers available. That’s a great line. Thank god teams don’t pass on first and second downs these days.
