  1. I know for a fact it happened in Cleveland. It must have happened elsewhere too. They were so bad for so long people just turned them in so they didn’t have to buy the season tickets. Many PSL holders also sold theirs for pennies on the dollar. Then the Browns offered the tickets of the turned in PSLs for sale as single game seats until the market picked back up. Then they sold the PSLs again.
  2. 31 pages and we don’t even know the offer. Wow
  3. Y’all need to look at some facts: Adams and Hill aren’t getting $30M a year either, unless they play out their deals. Adams is getting an AAV of $22.5M for the next 3 years and Hill am AAV of $23.7M over the next 4 years. Spotrac article. Diggs is in the last two seasons of a $14.4 AAV deal. The cash remaining is $13.5M and $13.7M. I’m sure he’s looking in the $20M-$22.5M AAV range for years he will realistically be playing for an extension. The Bills could do a four year extension with a big signing bonus and a couple huge salaries he will never see at the end. That would lower his 2022 cap hit and everyone here would call Beane a magician. IMO the odds that Diggs plays on this deal in 2022 are slim to none. The Hill deal hurts. It is better than the Adams deal and Adams is WR1 in the NFL. Hill and Diggs are both arguably top 5. I thinks Diggs gets a deal that pays him $80M-$88M over four years to stay. That or we have to ship him off for picks because O can’t believe that he is playing this year on his current deal.
  4. The optics are for people who do not want public money spent on stadiums and who do not attend games. It’s money that comes straight from people who go to games/buy tickets. There is also a sneakier angle. It is an additional revenue stream for owners if the team gets bad for long enough for people to turn their PSLs back in to the team because there is no market for them. The team can then resell them when the market picks back up and keep that money.
  5. People do them to have something football related to talk about this time of year. They are pretty worthless until just before the draft. There are other things to be gleaned from research that goes into a draft class, however. For example, this is a pretty poor DT draft class. The Bills recognized that and made filling their needs at DT a priority in FA. There was a writer for Dallas’ paper that usually had the best mock. He only did one and it was always right before the draft. He was pretty dialed in with NFL FOs though. I just can’t remember his name or find it easily via Google. They are useful to teams too. They can get a feel for how to react if the real draft breaks one way or another. They can also determine which other teams are likely to be interested in the same prospects as they are. Accuracy varies widely, obviously. Here is a link to a site that tracks mock draft accuracy.
  6. Yup. Roethlisberger soon will be honored with a HOF gold jacket. Multiple accusations of flat out rape seem a distant memory. Not many Steelers fans seemed to have minded. Ray Lewis’s involvement in a double murder was gave way to his “redemption” story, complete with his hands folded in prayer on an SI cover. Bills fans aren’t immune to this either. The majority here want OJ Simpson’s name to remain on the the Bills Wall of Fame. Jim Kelly remains a fan favorite and is the most beloved former Bills QB. His repeated physical abuse of his wife and infidelity don’t seem to bother most fans. Obviously every fan is free to make up their own mind about such things and set their own limits, but some should take a look in the mirror before getting up on their high horse. I will leave this discussion there.
  7. I agree with pretty much all of this. One thing I’d add is that I have heard that the Stefanski offense was dialed way back for Mayfield. It remains to be seen how it’ll look with Watson at QB and you can certainly argue that the Wide Zone wasn’t a fit at all for Mayfield. It’ll be interesting to see if he can be effective elsewhere. If he was limited by having his back to so many plays with so much play action or if the problem is him getting beyond his first read in any offense. Some team will take a shot on him. I suspect that it is slow going right now because he’s still recovering from surgery.
  8. To be fair he went from good to very good to top 5 to sitting out a year. Off the field stuff aside, that three year progression gets QBs paid pretty much everywhere.
  9. Based on what? Contracts don’t paint that picture. AAV is $7M vs $6.5M, but Phillips gets an extra year and more guaranteed money. That is very even. I don’t see either in the top 100 on any free agent list. Phillips is better against the run than Jones while Jones is a bit more balanced. If it’s not a push, it’s very close.
  10. FWIW parity also helps keep the NFL’s revenues up. More eyes on games more butts in seats and more general interest in the league.
  11. I like really having Jackson on the team as our 4th CB. I’m also perfectly good with him starting while Tre gets healthy, but I don’t want to go into the season with him as our CB2 behind Tre. IMO the Bills need someone in front of him, not behind him.
  12. I’m looking at Harrison Phillips and Butler being swapped out for Jones and Settle. Harrison washes with Jones and Settle is an upgrade over anyone else we had at DT. It’s definitely a gain at DT3. That’s offset by the loss at CB2.
  13. Thanks for those breakdowns. Von Miller is obviously the huge addition - and the only change that makes a huge difference. The other moves offset each other. There were some modest gains at several positions which are offset by the loss of Wallace. Again, Miller is a huge upgrade and improves the team greatly. Obviously further improvement can still happen in FA and the draft.
  14. Ojabo will almost certainly go before the Bills second round pick. I’m certainly good with Williams if he falls to us in the first.
  15. I honestly don’t think it’ll really matter to them. If the Browns don’t think he’s good enough for them, then they aren’t going to worry about him being on an AFC team - especially a non-division one. They gotta get through some combination of Burrow, Lamar, Allen, Mahomes, Wilson, Hebert, Carr and who knows who else. He’d be way down the list even if he was on a good team like Indy. I am sure they will use it as a bargaining chip for AFC teams though. Indy would have to way overpay. The reports of Colts interest in other QBs that are suddenly popping up makes me think they are interested in Mayfield. Or perhaps it’s Mariota. But I expect them to at least try to make a move soon.
  16. He is at the stage of career where that’s what makes sense. Still, I’m not pumping the brakes on another CB2 acquisition. Haden would be very good depth and be able to fill in for Tre (or compete with Johnson to fill in for Tre) if he’s not back to start the year.
  17. The huge salary cap caveat these days is the impact of the new broadcasting deals that will be inked soon. The cap should see an enormous increase.
  18. The Saints structure their big contract to do this kind of thing. That strategy definitely has its pitfalls, but the bigger point is that the Bills don’t have things set up like they do. There are places they can create space, but their situation is not like the Saints.
  19. Cleveland wants to recoup draft capital so it really depends on their offer versus Seattle, Carolina, etc.
  20. Could extend Diggs and Poyer. Can also gain space by restructuring White and Dawkins. That’s the remaining low hanging fruit. Edmunds is the only other real possibility, but I think we are stuck with him this season unless a team gets stupid.
  21. The NFL has to approve every trade made and every contract teams sign players to. They can disapprove the trade or contract. They could also conditionally approve the contract with changes. Then the only recourse would be a lawsuit.
  22. LOL! Whaley was sidelined for that draft because he was on his way out. He was so angry about being ignored that he actually left the draft room. McDermott ran that draft and Whaley was fired the day after it concluded.
  23. Thank you for reminding me. I had blocked that out of my memory. My favorite part was when he bid against only himself and drove up Clay’s price.
