This draft looks shallow at the top. By the middle of the first I think more teams will be looking to move back for picks than up for a player. So we might get a bit of a deal. You have a valid point though. Do we really want to move up from 27 in this draft? No, not really. But I also don’t like the thought of sitting at 27 with how I think the draft will likely shake out. We’d probably be one of the teams looking to move back - and at that point I’d probably prefer that. So the way I look at the situation is like this. I see Addison and JSN as first round prospects. I’d give up 27 and 59 for one of them. That should get us up to around pick 16. JSN is a perfect fit here IMO. The alternative is to draft two second round level prospects at 27 and 59. I’d rather have the prospect I think can be a real difference maker on our offense.

I think that using 2 TE sets would be great, especially if we aren’t in a spot to draft a quality slot WR prospect. Regardless I hope we get more talent at the position and Dorsey embraces true 2 TE sets. It could really help the run game too.

WR is my preference, but that depends on who’s there. I’d be happy to see the Bills move up for one (Addison, JSN) as long as they didn’t go crazy on trade compensation.

LT - Dion Dawkins LG - Ryan Bates C - Mitch Morse, Luke Wypler, Ohio State, 3rd round, heir apparent to MM at C, immediate competition for Bates at LG RG - Nate Davis, FA-Titans, 26 years old, 4 years, $30M total ($7.5M AAV) RT - Competition between Spencer Brown and Jermaine Eluemunor, FA-Raiders, 28 years old, 2 years, $8M ($4M AAV), winner starts, backup is the swing tackle I’d look to do something like this. Reasonable spending, good competition and depth, succession planning at C.

Daniel Jones wants more than $45M per year on new deal
BarleyNY replied to billsbackto81's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree. Non-exclusive rights franchise tag is $32.4M. That is a done deal if I’m Schoen. I’d gladly take 2 firsts if a team wants to sign him away. And I’d listen to their other offers. -
WR is a top 5 position in the NFL and, like CB, the top three on a team matter a lot. Davis is a starter in the league, no question - but he’s not a difference maker. And the Bills need more difference makers than just Diggs at WR.

I bet he’s waiting to run the 40 until tOSU’s pro day so his only timed run will be on that blazing fast track.

Great job with the math. How many teams in the NFL do you think are happy with the production they got from their top two WRs? Maybe a third of the league and certainly not more than half.

McDermott and Beane exceeded my expectations in that they built a team that was capable of winning a championship. But they also fell short of expectations with their failures in the biggest moments. Even when a team has done a great job of putting itself into a position to win it all, that team still needs some good luck. You can’t squander those opportunities and they have. On the coaching side the 13 second debacle was inexcusable. On the FO side the neglect on the offensive side of the ball is where they’ve fallen short.

Is Rutgers the worst division 1 college football program ever?
BarleyNY replied to Another Fan's topic in College Football
Well, that’s fair on the shady undertones. It’s not like UB or Kent State have that added taint. -

Except for the brief time they were good and looked like and up and coming program under Schiano I’ve always thought that they were a poor program. I don’t know that I could say that they were the worst - too much competition for that. Heck, they’d probably win the MAC. But other than those few seasons they’ve been bad for my whole life. I’m 54. -
Despite some bad weather games the Bills threw the ball a lot. One stat that tries to account for volume is Yards Per Route Run. Davis is 53rd among WRs at 1.43. By comparison Stefon Diggs is 5th at 2.49, McKenzie is 84th at 1.10. Knox is 31st among TEs at 1.10 as well - which surprised me. Equally surprising - in the other direction - are Hines 4th among RBs at 1.77, Cook 15th at 1.43 and Singletary 41st (among 50 qualifying RBs) at 0.75. I’d have more hope for Davis if I thought he had the physical ability to expand his route tree. I don’t think that’s in the cards though. I do think his ankle was an issue last season so he could be better in 2023. Edited to add: in 2021 before he was a starter Davis was 48th at 1.62.

Antonio Brown - (Former) Arena Football League Owner
BarleyNY replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall
How’s he going to fit in time to be a successful owner while also fulfilling his duties as CEO of Ye’s Donda Sports - and being wasted all the time? His schedule must be crazy! -
Bills need to add a decent TE to the roster. I’m not suggesting using a first round pick or anything like that, but there has to be someone on the roster who can play respectably if Knox gets dinged. The drop off right now is immense. It would also allow the Bills to use 12 personnel if they could get a favorable match up.

How many of those 11 or 12 with first round grades are QBs?

Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract
BarleyNY replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Browns are restructuring Watson for the same reason the Bills will restructure Allen. Both need cap space and both players have big salaries in an early year of a long contract - and the money being restructured in both cases is guaranteed anyway. -
Agreed. The good news is that he got a public vote of confidence! The bad news is that he needed to get a public vote of confidence. What really matters is what the Bills do. To date they are in a holding pattern. No replacement, no extension. I think we see at least one significant addition to the WR corps and the team goes into the season intending to let Davis play out his rookie deal. Anything that happens beyond that depends on Davis.

As much as I hate to contribute to this thread, I’ll weigh in on this. My first thought was that Frazier was dealing with a serious health issue, but after hearing Beane talk about it I think it was a firing. Warrow said that Frazier’s contract wasn’t up yet and contracts typically prevent coaches from double dipping so Frazier probably wouldn’t be coaching in 2023 if fired. The way it was done seems like more of a face-saving measure for a respected colleague.

Allegations of bank fraud by Dan Snyder with Roger Goodell complicit
BarleyNY replied to BarleyNY's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree that while Goodell certainly looks guilty, he likely isn’t going to be held accountable for this. -
http://amp.thecomeback.com/nfl/roger-goodell-dan-snyder-bank-fraud.html Allegations that Snyder fraudulently secured a loan to buy out minority owners of Commanders. Goodell alleged to have signed off on the loan despite knowing it was fraudulent. It’d be such a shame if both of them were no longer able to be involved with the NFL.

Please not Greggg. The only experienced coach I would want less is Wrex. -
He’s like a Jake Locker, but with less heart.
